I'm not sure if this is a joke or real. I've met people who actually didn't know that some of the things they wanted to do was rape, and had to be informed.

Since men are usually the rapists it's largely a male responsibility to stop rape from happening, both oneself and those around you. It should not be entirely the role of women to not get raped. That just gives wankers even more reason to blame the victims for what happened rather than those who actually committed the crimes.

Varrok 06-04-2013 05:29 AM

It's now less funny, because of you.

I would say that it's somewhere in the middle. I think it was probably designed with the specific purpose to communicate to the sort of guys who don't understand what rape is, but using humour to do so.

Was that supposed to make sense, ir is it a stupid gay joke? Am I just missing something obvious?

Wings of Fire 06-04-2013 03:57 PM

You don't get it, and that says a lot about you.

OANST 06-04-2013 04:16 PM

Eh. It's just another self congratulating comic white knighting for women. It was eh.

By the way, I based that more on the facial expressions than the text. Without that overly sincere look that every self congratulatory white knight comic has I would have just thought it was a silly comic about a clueless person.

Wings of Fire 06-04-2013 04:32 PM

I did not read into the expression as much as you did and still don't.

I'm not saying the comic is good, I'm saying the level of obtuseness required to not get the joke is off the charts.

OANST 06-04-2013 04:36 PM

Yeah, that's true.

Jbot123 06-04-2013 05:24 PM

I got the joke, I just didn't see exactly if it was supposed to be funny or a parody of bad jokes.

MeechMunchie 06-04-2013 05:50 PM

I wouldn't read too much into it. He doesn't try to be edgy or smart, he's just an office drone who likes to make jokes.

A reference to “penetration” in a speech to parliament caused Israel’s education minister to burst into a laughing fit that went viral on Tuesday on Israeli websites.

Shai Piron, who is also a rabbi, could not get past the first sentence of his address, on a proposed law against smuggling cell phones into Israel’s prisons, before beginning to chuckle.

“Mr Chairman, distinguished Parliament, the aim of this legislation is to deal with a serious phenomenon — the penetration of prohibited objects into prisons,” he said during a late night session on Monday broadcast on the official Knesset TV channel.

He briefly recovered but broke down again over the perceived sexual innuendo when the word “penetration” came up in the text for a second time. Legislators in the hall joined in the giggling.

Struggling to continue, Piron wiped tears from his eyes, took a sip of water — and finally went back to his seat, unable to read on.

He later explained to reporters that he had been caught off-guard by the phrasing in the speech, which he delivered at the last minute after a cabinet colleague was called away.

I don't understand Hebrew either, but the body language is rather amusing.

Here are some truly awful white knighting sexism comics.

I feel dirty.

Nate 06-05-2013 12:38 AM

Are you suggesting that they're awful because they're white-knighting? Or just generally?

His comics are generally awful, but his extremely ham handed way of white knighting brings it down to a whole new level.

Also according to sources that browse a forum that gives a shit about him, he does exploitative art of his female characters masturbating.

So, uh, yeah.

STM 06-05-2013 04:36 AM

How does one exploit a fictitious character?

Can't we all just get aloong?

Jbot123 06-05-2013 06:12 AM

Fun Fact:That was an actual issue promoting the movie.

STM 06-05-2013 06:13 AM

I suppose it depends in what sense you mean 'exploiting'.

Wings of Fire 06-05-2013 06:16 AM

Real issue it was, but the movie came out in 2007. The issue is dated late 2009.

Jbot123 06-05-2013 06:38 AM

Then it was promoting the 20th anniversary.

Bullet Magnet 06-05-2013 05:13 PM

I don't get this problem of "white knighting". It seems to be a derogatory term for... not being a jerkass?

MeechMunchie 06-05-2013 06:03 PM

It's derogatory towards people who a) assume a demographic can't defend themselves, thus contradicting their supposed respect for said demographic or b) are vocal about an issue because they want to appear compassionate and be applauded for their concern, rather than actually caring about the issue in question.

This is especially ironic in the case of men who speak out against the sexual objectification of women because they think it'll get them laid.

There are white knights who are just nice people, but they're rare.

Bullet Magnet 06-05-2013 07:10 PM

I don't know anyone like that, and I know a lot of male allies. Asking for a cookie each time bullshit, yeah. As for defending demographics, it turns out that men are more able to reach male audiences than women, especially when the kind of men who need the message the most are the ones most most likely to dismiss women anyway.

MISOGYNY!

Seriously though, why bother 'white knighting' anyone? You could work for complete equality across the board. This is why I disagree with the execution of feminism. It wants to solve problems of inequality in the current patriarchy but I haven't met a feminist that admits there are real problems for men in society as well. A prime example would be if there was a war today, right now if a country started invading across Europe and they wanted to reach the UK. Society would expect me to fight and die for my country, but not a woman of the same age. Well, no thank you, I couldn't pick up a gun and shoot someone, I'd probably have a breakdown.

We should work to try and end societal stereotypes and educate people to stop them from being so judgemental to others just because of their beliefs or their gender or anything. Gender equality is a puzzle that can't be solved just by trying to improve things for women because then you only have half the pieces.

Vyrien 06-06-2013 04:07 AM

Yes, misogyny is unfairly prevalent in society.

More misandry say I. More misandry!

I don't know who you've been talking to, I've had only the opposite experience. But it is true that women do have it worse, and in ways that most men don't even have to notice (many of whom seem to get irrationally angry when asked to notice). However, the only people who I have ever met or heard of who are actively trying to resolve those male injustices have also identified as feminist. Which makes sense, come on. Many of them have young sons, and they certainly don't want to see their husbands, fathers, brothers, nephews, uncles, cousins and friends screwed over any more than they want that for themselves. And some of them are men.

Certainly groups like MRA aren't doing anything to help, they exist for the sole purpose of shitting on feminism and mention male injustices only so that they can bring them to bear in their juvenile pissing war.
