NV is slightly better than FO3.
|
I finished playing Final Fantasy VI (now one of my favourite games) and have started playing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. So far I'm really enjoying it. It's like a far better version of Fable 2 and 3, with elements of The Elder Scrolls blended in.

NV did have lots of cool new stuff, though. I really need to give it another go, as I never actually finished it. |
I felt that FO3 was the empty one – in FO3, the main story quest was kind of the only really interesting thing going, and vast swathes of the map were useless (how many enterable buildings were there in D.C.?).
In New Vegas, I got sidetracked by side missions for weeks, and the world map felt much less empty – towns and outposts all over the place, and much more evenly spread. |
But what was actually in all of those extra places? I discovered whole locations that were devoid of anything interesting in NV, whereas in FO3 everything was something, even if it was only one chest with a very hard lock.
|
Well for a start, pretty much every settlement in NV had at least one trader. In FO3, it was only some of the larger settlements like Rivet City and Megaton that had that kind of stuff. Most places were tied to quests, too, even if they were just small sidetracks.
There’s plenty of interesting stuff throughout the Mojave, too – even little abandoned shacks have a smattering of supplies, bigger buildings were usually tied in to sidequests and had some rare items and/or enemies in them, and wide open outdoors-y areas were usually battlegrounds. I never found a place in NV that had nothing in it. |
I've never played FO3 but what i've heard it's just as good as NV. I'll buy in when it's on offer :)
|
Eh, I guess I need to play it some more. Most of my experience with the game comes from watching my mom play it.
|
Personally I preferred FO3, I thought the environment and story were much better.
|
I'm busy making chambers in Portal 2, learning to use Hammer so I can make even more awesome chambers and replaying single player to get inspiration and look at the artistic design of the facility.
|
I'm playing Silent Hill 2. The logic of which objects you can inspect, and the shit sucking camera pretty much ruins the experience for me. I have not been even slightly creeped out. Instead, I have been mostly irritated.

Diablo III
It's really good. Feels a lot like the old games but with enough changes to keep it fresh. I've only played as the Demon Hunter class and it's great so far. Yeah. It's Diablo. It's pretty awesome. Go get it. But not until Blizzard gets their damned servers working. |
Quake Live duels. Lots of them.
Every one makes me want to curl up into a ball and cry. I'm so bad at it. It brings out everything I hate about myself. I can't keep track of items, I panic under pressure and I'm just generally a stupid shit. People that were at my skill level 2 months ago are now much, much better than me to the point where they don't want to play me anymore. No one wants to play me and I'm getting a reputation for being shit, making it harder for me to get games/improve. But I'm determined to learn. |
Lost Planet.
|
Well get it back.

or you can add me, my name's verymadmax |
This is my page on qlranks. I'm #69347 in the world.
I bought Diablo 3 today. It feels very nice to play. I'm 60 minutes into the first act with my level 6 monk and I haven't really been challenged yet. The monk seems to be more of a tank than I'd anticipated. It should be good to jump online once I get a bit more of a feel for it. I'm a bit annoyed that it requires you to be online all of the time, though. Especially when it tells you the servers are full and puts you in a queue to play. |
Diablo 3 is very fun indeed. Having only played a few hours of it, I can't fully post my opinion, but I agree with you about the difficulty, I didn't feel challenged at all, even during one of the big scary bosses. Then again, I was with a friend who was a monk, so maybe he just did all the tanking, like you suggested. My guy (girl) is a Demon Hunter, so I mostly play support.
And yeah, I hate always being online. I got the game on opening night with my cousin and we were up til 3 trying to get online. No luck. We got on the next day, but only for a few hours. |
From what I gather on the forums Normal is a bit of a joke. It seems the real game starts on Hell.
I'm probably going to try and find some people to blast through Act 2 with later today, as I don't have any friends with the game. I'll get my foot in the door with some newer people who I can fly through Normal with. |
I'd join you but I'm currently without a laptop charger. When I get a new one, we'll have to put together an OWF Diablo 3 party.
Who else has Diablo 3 here, anyway? |
I'm going to start a Diablo 3 thread. I think there's more than enough scope for discussion for it to deserve one.
EDIT: Here. |
Been playing some SuperTux and SuperTuxKart (rip offs of Super Mario COUGH!) :tard:
Wilber from Gimp Image editor is in Super Tux Kart and so is Mozilla Dinosaur and of course Tux the Penguin and a few others. |
Joe got me Overlord as a gift on steam.
It's a really fun game, though it occasionally has finnicky controls. |
I played the beta of yet another pretentious art game; Hazard: The Journey of Life (now retitled Antichamber for various reasons).
Firstly, it's white. Very, very white. I had to turn the brightness down on my monitor for the sake of my retinae. Secondly, it's got one of those funky non-Eucledian things going on - corridors that lead into themselves, rooms that are bigger on the inside, multiple rooms occupying the same space depending on the angle you look at them from, invisible surfaces, corridors that lead somwhere other than the place you came from if you turn back, dissolving walls etc. Thirdly, it doesn't make any secret of the metaphors it uses - what each puzzle represents is plainly stated afterwards, plus a funny cartoon. Fourthly, It messes with game structure in entertaining ways - the concepts of level progression, timed challenges, narrative instruction etc. Example: One path locks behind you, and going forwards leads straight to the end of the game. "Some decisions bring us to the end of our journey sooner than we'd like." placates the philosophical poster, accompanied by a cartoon of a man stepping in front of an oncoming car. |
Just beat Ocarina of Time. The last boss was fucking epic.

But, yeah. Very white. |

They've taken the beta demo off of the official site now, but you can still find it on other sites if you search for it under the old title.
|
Oh, I would love to try that.
