Abe skin for Minecraft.

MOD EDIT: This post (and the two following) merged from its own thread.

Download it, try it out, and post feed back.

Dynamithix 07-13-2011 06:33 AM

It's pretty cool, but was there a need to make a thread just because of it? I think someone posted a Slig skin too.

Nate 07-13-2011 06:35 AM

Yeah, I think I'll merge it.

Gwan-Thwei 07-13-2011 08:16 AM

I have no idea what that was about, but okay.
What is the most annoying hostile mob?
While we're at it, what it the most annoying passive mob?

The one I hate the most are the skeleton archers. Those bastards are impossible to hit, and they attack from a distance, so you take a lot of damage before you actually get to them. That and the Ghasts. Even if they're facing the other way, they can still spit flaming snowballs at you? I call bullshit.

As for the non-hostile mobs, chickens, cows, and pigs annoy me. Pushing me off of cliffs and getting in my way...But mostly the chickens. I need eggs for a cake, and I need to follow one around to get it?

Wil 07-13-2011 10:05 AM

Skeleton archers are very annoying. If you have a good open space it's not hard to strafe around their arrows, but when you get to playing peek-a-boo with them they have lightning fast reflexes that will get you the millisecond you poke your head out.

Ghasts are even more annoying than creepers. There's no evading them, when one gets you in its sights you just have to spend time taking it out, else the netherack beneath your feet will be very quickly eroded.

Bullet Magnet 07-13-2011 10:23 AM

When I get my new computer I may get this game. You guy'll have to help me get up to speed

enchilado 07-13-2011 01:44 PM

Skeletons are easy enough to deal with on open ground and if there are obstacles you do this:

Do you think it's ready to be uploaded?

STM 07-13-2011 10:35 PM

There aren't really any hard mobs, even creepers no longer worry me because on the server I use we have the explosions turn off so while they give you damage they leave no physical scar.

enchilado 07-13-2011 11:22 PM

That's nice to know, but we're talking about the real game.

Huh? Uploaded to what/where?

Define real.

enchilado 07-14-2011 04:13 AM

In this case I suppose I meant unmodded.

Saying that 'there aren't any really hard mobs' because your server cheated and turned explosions off is just stupid. You might as well play on peaceful and brag about how you explore caves in the dark without any armour.

T-nex 07-14-2011 04:45 AM

I play on survival and I explore caves in the dark with no armor :p

STM 07-14-2011 06:05 AM

We still have explosions there's just no physical effect on the environment, if a creeper goes boom nearby you'll still lose all your gear.

DarkHoodness 07-14-2011 06:16 AM

It still kinda take the fun out of Minecraft though, annoying as explosions are.

STM 07-14-2011 06:47 AM

Hey, it means there aren't any big holes on...the beach....so it's all good.

Gwan-Thwei 07-14-2011 10:10 AM

I hate how my computer lags during a really important part in the game, like when I'm in a cave and I can hear a skeleton around the corner, or when I'm jumping over a lava pit. I have my fog up to full...um, fogginess, and it's still slow as fuck. I deal with it though, somehow.
Does anyone know any good seeds?

Ridg3 07-14-2011 12:54 PM

I used "Oh, fuck off you whiny, ignorant, self-absorbed, hateful, spiteful, detestable, horrendus fucking excuse for a human being!"

It was pretty shit.

Gwan-Thwei 07-14-2011 02:43 PM

>rolls eyes< I bet it was.

STM 07-14-2011 02:49 PM

try Forest (case sensitive) and Gargamel. and 404 if you want to go delve into the biggest cave of any generated map known to man.

Gwan-Thwei 07-14-2011 03:00 PM

Thanks man.
Now, as a contribution, I found out that there's a mod called "you are the creeper". You are a creeper, making friends with other mobs, growing other creepers, and attacking miners. Apparantly, you can explode like a creeper does, but I'm not sure if that kills you.
Here's a link if anyone's interested...http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...orks-with-173/

E'l Scrabino 07-15-2011 12:13 AM

Thanks for the link Gwan, definitely going to try that out!

try Forest (case sensitive) and Gargamel.

gargamel is case-sensitive too, you dolt.

DarkHoodness 07-15-2011 07:36 AM

Last night, Dripik, Splat, T-nex and I tried out Chronobasher's adventure map: Professor Grizwald and the Adventure of the Pyramid - The same map that the Yogscast people tried once. So we had a Yogscast style adventure, and fun was had by all. :) (and I think we were a bit better at it than them)

I didn't film all of it but here's the highlights of what I did film:

(and I think we were a bit better at it than them)

That's not a just thing to say, considering most of us have seen their playthrough before. But we did manage to keep to the path set out by Chronobasher, we didn't really have to find alternate routes or anything, so that's a feat, I suppose. 'twas good fun.

By that I mean we (well, you) solved one of the jumping puzzles and opened the lever puzzle after looking carefully at the wiring - Rather than use TNT on the door. :P

Splat 07-15-2011 08:03 AM

Aye, it was. I played 'Tree of Life' before I watched their video and my attempt was much less chaotic. And I think I had more fun :p

We're gonna do the next Grizwald map soon, the one they just released a video of. I don't know about anyone else, but for me the plan is to play the map before watching their attempt.

...and opened the lever puzzle after looking carefully at the wiring - Rather than use TNT on the door.

I think we just flipped the nine levers systematically until something happened. Also, if you look at the entrance hall of the pyramid, you will notice nine sandstone blocks. And some of them have torches on top. You see a patern emerging here? :P

I'll admit, I've seen the second Grizwald map videos, but I don't think it'll be much of a problem. Maybe I'll let the rest of you work things out more. And the way I remember the map, a lot of it consists of platforming, so we probably won't get stuck like in the previous map.

Wil 07-15-2011 08:59 AM

I forgot how camp Splat is.
