But you can't just instantly warp anywhere, and there's actual content in the overworld. Daggerfall just kind of assumes you'll fast travel everywhere, even though in theory you could walk across the vast boring plains.

*silt strider

Also mage guild teleportation and propylon chambers (good luck).

I love Morrowind, but these days it needs mods to really shine. I posted this a bajillion years ago.

I've actually been playing the crap out of Morrowind over the past week or so. Vanilla Morrowind. On Xbox. Having a great time, though, really. Level 27 Nord Barbarian whose barely touched the main quest or even most of the guild ones. Just been spending so much time exploring, blundering, looting, and trying to sell all these Daedric weapons that are weighing me down. No luck, though. Even the mudcrab merchant is too poor.

I finally get the hype. This game just has so many things in its world! Hope I don't get bored after uncovering the entire world map, though.

I've been doubling down on Okami HD. I started a save file a while ago and got about halfway through the story, and I'm only just picking up where I left off months ago. Making great progress though, it's so easy to sink tons of time into that game.

If you can find Creeper, he's got a bit more gold. The writing's decent, so the quests should be entertaining enough to carry you once the wanderlust rubs off; the Tribunal Temple ones are my favourites. Also, try poking your nose into some of the books. They're genuinely interesting if you like LORE

I've just completed Massive Chalice (or MASSIVE CHALICE, if you prefer) by DoubleFine, which I got because of OANST's generosity. It's been... quite a long time since he gave me the code, and I was trying to get into it, but it was definitely too bugged to have any fun with it then. But, as for now (no longer in Beta), it's totally playable.

The game is about a chalice, which also happens to be pretty massive. If that alone doesn't make you feel interested, I really don't know what will. (A giant goblet, maybe?) It's a mix of basic economy game and stripped-down-to-basics Xcom-like combat. But, unlike the XCOM remake, this game is fun, because it's not trying to be something that it isn't (I mean, XCOM tried to be an XCOM game and failed miserably). It took me 14 hours to complete the game on Normal difficulty (with permadeath) and I believe the difficulty is well-balanced. It wasn't easy, and it wasn't impossible hard. It became harder the further I got. I won the final battle by the skin of my teeth and it was exciting.

The whole game has a tendency to suck you in for "just one more battle". The ending was pretty meh, but didn't feel as cheap and bad as Broken Age Act II's ending. Also, this game has one of the best credits mechanics ever.

Recommended 7/10

Pros:
-Fun

Cons:
-Kickstarter = Cheap
-A bit tedious at 50-80% of the game

Thanks, OANST!

Im still playing Mortal Kombat X.Yay.

Nepsotic 07-05-2015 09:00 PM

Beat Antichamber the other day. It took me around 11 hours but I wanted to be very thorough and finish all the puzzles.

Fucking amazing game, cannot recommend it enough. If you liked Portal, go play Antichamber. The less you know about it, the better it is when you play it.

Manco 07-06-2015 09:49 AM

I finished Okami HD. Still one of my all-time favorite games, the HD-ification just makes it better.

Saying that, I’ve noticed I always play it in two segments – I play up to around halfway, then stop for months before blitzing through the second half. It’s very strange, I can’t figure out why that would happen but my brain just seems to decide that it’s had enough perfection for a while.

I've been playing a lot of Kerbal Space Program lately. The idea of exploring every corner of a solar system excites me. They recently updated the aerodynamics for the game too. The aerodynamics model used to be complete rubbish.

I've actually been playing the crap out of Morrowind over the past week or so. Vanilla Morrowind.

I had some fun times on that. One thing I would love to do is take a ride to a city's mage guild and make as many different spells as possible. I'd have a "trigger fight" spell which did 1 damage on a huge radius so the enemies would get angry enough to fight me. I'd make other ones such as long-lasting ones and huge fireballs etc. Levitating was a lot of fun! Anyone remember the Bull/Betty Netch enemies?

They just added Team Battle Royale to H1Z1 and boy does it change how the game plays. It's great to start right next to a buddy and go raiding together. 5-man teams are even more crazy, although sometimes you do end up with a few nutters that go crazy and get you killed. Still, fun times. If you're curious about my thoughts on the game, go here! (shameless plug)

On another note, Hand of Fate is awesome. It's a randomly generated game that shuffles cards and gives you choices on what to do next. There is a lot of chance involved but it is a very enjoyable game and it gets more complex as you dig down further. Here's some gameplay!

Rocket league... Lots of Rocket League...

Oh and Styx master of shadows is free for PS plus as well, so ive been playing that. Its a bit Deus ex/MGS-ish. I dunno, I havnt played metal gear solid so I can only say it looks like it. A 3rd person stealth focused game where confrontation should be avoided. Really hard but having a blast.

Hazel-Rah 07-25-2015 07:01 PM

Destiny PVP mostly, I actually like it better than what I played of Halo 5 in the beta, you could really customize it to your liking. Unfortunately you have to grind your face into the PVE to unlock all the worthwhile weapons and I wish it had more vehicles.

Shade667 07-25-2015 08:38 PM

TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT is really neat. Alot like classic sonic games, in that its a momentum based mascot platformer. Im really liking it, and ill be routing it soon.

Crashpunk 07-26-2015 02:03 AM

Rocket League looks insanely fun. I've got to try and convince my mates to get it so we can have a 3v3 match :)

Diablo
Diablo II
Diablo III

All amazing games
the first two remind me of AO in a way. Making the most of limited technology

Played Guilty Gear Xrd last night with some friends and it was pretty dang fun. Reminds me a lot of Blazblue, especially the character designs. I'd be lying if I said I understood how to play entirely, although I think it's nearly impossible to grasp all of the mechanics for a fighting game in your first sitting. I'm a little tempted to buy it myself (we were playing on a friend's copy).

What I really liked about it was that it uses 3D models for the characters, which I'm usually not too crazy about with fighting games, but the way Guilty Gear pulled it off was pretty neat. Wouldn't mind if other fighting games used the same style.

The whole experience was also a little odd because the only other Guilty Gear game I've played was a demo of the first game for PS1 when I was like, four, and some of the sound effects in the game sounded almost exactly like the ones in the original.

OANST 08-03-2015 12:24 PM

Exploding Kittens. It's amazing. If you didn't back the Kickstarter, make sure you grab a deck when they are available to purchase.

Not a video game.

Phylum 08-03-2015 05:21 PM

ROOOCKETTTTTT LEAGGUEEEEEEE.

It's pretty crazy. Easy to play, very entertaining, and satisfying as fuck when you make some good shots. I'm still learning the ropes, but it doesn't even matter if you're good or not. It's just an enjoyable game.

Apparently it works pretty well at high ping so I'd be down for an intercontinental OWF championship.

I've just finished Bioshock Infinite. It's about Infinite universes. It (bio)shocked me how unpolished and plainly boring the game is from 50% of the game till the very end. It saddens me no end-boss, and no fight with the Big Daddy bird alternative. What saddens me worse is the amount of cut content since early presentations, they worsened the game throughout the years instead of improving and polishing it

I've almost finished FF8. The gameplay balance is horrible, despite the game having many avaliable battle tactics like standard attacks/magic/summons, only the last one really works, and there is little to no limitations for using summons, which means battle consist of spamming them, and being forced to watch a 20-30sec animation each time, resulting in extremely BORING battles. SHIT.

Before that I finished FF7. It was great.

Darkest Dungeon. Recently added the feature to turn off the controversial Corpses and Heart Attacks mechanic which honestly put me off the game. (look it up)

For those who don't know. Darkest Dungeon is a RPG which has a focus on the effects and the stress of dungeon crawling. It also has a heavy focus on positioning in a turn based combat system and a light system which effects everything in the dungeon. (if it's dark, you guys more stressed and enemies get stronger)

Stress is at first hard to manage. You guys can get stressed out which effects how they act. usually they have negative effects which also drags the others down with him/her. And once your guys get completely stressed, there is very little you can do about it.

Sometimes if their stress levels reaches max, they have positive effects such as inspiring allies, becoming more focus and decreasing the stress of others.

This game is bloody harsh. Like. hard as nails. You are going to lose, your guys are going to die and it's a big grind slowly getting resources and upgrading stuff.

By god is it addictive. I also frigging adore the artstyle, music and effects.

It's not for the faint hearted, but it's a really good game. By far the best early access game.

Yu-Gi-Oh! - Legacy of the Duelist has devoured my life for the past 3 weeks. getting the chance to relive my childhood and make all the decks that wouldve cost me thousands in the real world.

Phylum 08-26-2015 07:17 AM

Funnily enough, I've been playing a bit of Magic Duels, the new f2p MTG game. The campaign is pretty boring, but it's fun finding ways to grind the AI faster. If you have a few friends playing without being p2w tryhards I'm sure there's some good fun to be had. If any of you guys have played it let me know, but nobody I have on Steam has played it yet :c

Mr. Bungle 09-08-2015 04:14 PM

Playing the crap out of CS:GO. So much fun. Feels a lot like source which I played the crap out of back in high school. Having trouble playing online though for some reason, and bots are getting real stale real fast.

Phylum 09-08-2015 05:31 PM

Trouble as in bad or trouble as in connection?

Obligatory are you playing on wireless, ping the servers, tracert the servers, make sure people aren't on netflix or torrenting.

Mr. Bungle 09-08-2015 10:10 PM

Nah, none of that. I play other online games just fine. Just always fail to connect to servers or find any matches in quick play.

I suspect it might be because I'm playing it through a friend's shared Steam library . Which I guess is fair? I dunno.

Job McYossie 09-08-2015 11:17 PM

I am playing through darksouls for the first time with a friend. It good.

Shade667 09-09-2015 06:12 AM

I dont think ill enjoy the souls games, but I enjoy watching them.

Good speedruns as well.

Job McYossie 09-09-2015 01:27 PM

Speedrunning sections alone is fantastic fun tbh, when my friend isnt' around I like to just run through sections I've already done as fast as I can.
