I probably won't touch S10 much, but I'll give a few more chances to this one

I posted this in the wrong thread.
On the other hand, I watched one of Russel Peter's standup routines with my niece. He's pretty funny. No Jim Gaffigan. |
I just finished watching the Olympic opening ceremony. That was batshit insane, and a great deal better than I was expecting.
Also the Olympic Commitee president's surname is Roug or something French, but pronounced "Rog". Me and my brother found the idea of gathering large amounts of hulking physical competitors for the lighting of a giant fire under the gaze of someone called "Rog" very entertaining. ALL HAIL ROG, MASTER OF OLYMPIA |
One of the Brazilian football squad is called Hulk.
The opening went off without a hitch. Except for the hitch. Danny Boyle made us proud. |
Oh, Danny Boyle...
... THE PIPES, THE PIPES ARE CALLING |
Yeah, I remember seeing a preview of what the ceremony would be like (pastures and cottages) and being instantly turned off by how kitschy it looked.
But the actual ceremony was great; first thing they do was tear out all the grass and replace it with industrialisation while heavy drums get beat, then they threw in a healthy dose of comedy, and then the remembrance stuff. I thought the design for the cauldron was really smart and original and the decision to have seven young athletes light it (rather than just one famous name) was a nice touch. And yeah, batshit insane throughout. |
There should have been more Doctor Who.
And god dammit Paul McCartney. They should have booked Elbow. They should have sang "One Day Like This". |
There was some Bowie and Queen. That more than makes up for it.
|
I got really excited when they played Pink Floyd. That was awesome.
|
I completely missed the ceremony and can't find it online =(
|
I didn't even know it was on. Anyway, I'm going camping to avoid the whole thing, the misanthrope that I am.

Anyway, we were better than China and its dancing totalitarians. Also, giant Voldemort. EDIT: And I'm pretty sure that child-catcher guy was Noel Fielding. |
I saw Darkwing Duck Rises last night. Over all I was impressed. Bane was a lot more fun than I expected. The first fight scene between him and Batman was phenomenal. There were a few cringe worthy scenes, but they were all dialogue scenes between Batman, and Catwoman. I would have liked Bale's performance a lot more if he had dropped the gravelly voice after everyone figured out who he was. It was still really good, though.

You did. Well, I don't know if it was Prodigy or not, but the TARDIS definitely made a cloaked flyby.

If you haven't already got it yet, here.

Alternatively,
I'm probably the only one who laughed at this... |
I watched Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz again. Was probably the seventh time I've seen Shaun of the Dead. Both really great movies, but it's hard to say which one is better, I myself prefer Shaun of the Dead but Hot Fuzz is a really, really good movie too.
Sadly the latest film with Pegg and Frost, Paul, wasn't nearly as good as the previous two. It was still alright though. |
Which just goes to show that the talent in the trio was all in the hands of Edgar Wright.
I suspect this post will bring out the Scott Pilgrim haters. Then I shall laugh in their stupid faces for being so predictable. And wrong. |
If Edgar wright was so great Scott Pilgrim wouldn't have been depressingly mediocre.

I hate all those movies if that makes anyone feel vindicated.

I'm with WoF. Sort of. I don't hate them, but I found Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz to both be boring, and unfunny. I can see what they are going for, but they just failed to make it funny.
Oh, and I finished Season 3 of Breaking Bad. Starting from the episode where The Murder Twins attacked Hank, the season became phenomenal. I couldn't nit pick a damned thing after that. The last two episodes were some fucking nail biters too. Great season over all. |
Zombie army at the end of GoT, holy shit was that epic, and I didn't even watch the other episodes! I'm also currently downloading season 3 of Misfits, can't wait, it's one of my favourite programmes of all time. (One of)

(Hint: Continuing like this would be completely useless) |

I'd reply to this, but I'm afraid I'd stop being funny.
Anyways, I watched a couple more episodes of S9 of the Simpsons, and I'm glad I found no totally-unfunny episodes like Lisa's Sax. That's a relief, kinda. Was it the period when the creators were focused on making Futurama? I've never watched it, I guess you all like it and recommend, right? |
I watched Fright Night remake. It wasn't particually laugh out loud funny but it made me smile and it was a really enjoyable film. Colin Farrel was great as the vampire...but the star of the show was David Tennant, his Vegas vampire hunter character was hilarious.
Also seeming him curse up a storm was really weird since I loved his Dr. Who. |

Cool, I like the Beatles.
