Saw that, uhh...whats it called....Resident Evil Apocolpse, or something along that lines. Kinda rubbish compared to the game. Still, kept my attention. Ugg, like that with Doom, and Silent Hill.

I dislike the Doom movie with every millimeter of my body, they completely changed the story.

Havoc 05-01-2008 02:31 PM

Not to mention the crappy acting.

Leto 05-01-2008 02:46 PM

Bio force gun gaize!!!

:

Resident Evil Apocolpse,
yes, that wasn't that good at all. but have you seen the first Resident Evil movie? It was really good. Probably more of an accurate Doom movie than the Doom movie was, even though it was based on an entirely different game series

But the true Doom movie is Event Horizon. it was like Doom 3's exact story/mood before Doom 3 existed. hire it out or torrent it now you monkeys

Doom had a story? Get the fuck out of here.

Leto 05-09-2008 02:40 PM

the story was IDDQD IDKFA

I think it originally had but they cut it out of the movie to make the acting easier for the actors.

I saw Ratatouille last weekend. No one does CG like Pixar, GODDAMN.
Pixar sucks. Anyone can make a CG movie where the characters have solid color for clothes and body parts... I hate Pixar's style.

GlacierDragon 05-10-2008 09:11 AM

Yeh I hate Pixar to.

I saw Black Sheep the other day. Now that was funny. "The sheep are revolting!"

Venks 05-10-2008 09:32 AM

So first I watched Iron Man. That move was f'n intense. I thought, "Nothing is gonna top this movie."

The next day my sis invited me to go watch Speed Racer with her. The movie looked so f'n horrible I didn't really go, but the promise of free popcorn was too tempting. THANK FATE ABOVE!

Speed Racer was freaken Ace! That movie made me cry, laugh, and hold my pounding heart as I was held back in suspense. I have to tell everyone to watch this movie. Anyone who like me thought it looked like trash MUST see it!

Mac Sirloin 05-10-2008 03:54 PM

Iron Man was fuckwin, but that bit with Samuel L. Jackson as NICK FURY AND YOU LOST THE GAME was really irritating. WHY IS HE IN THIS. GODDAMMIT. FIND SOMEONE ELSE. I'D TAKE DANNY GLOVER OVER HIM ANY DAY.
Supposedly Robert Downey Junior is guest starring as Tony Stark in the new Hulk movie.

I'd like to see either of you make solid coloured 3D model as iconic and artistic as Pixar has.

http://www.starstore.com/acatalog/ra...-kitchen-l.jpg

yeah just anyone can masterfully create creases in clothing, solid colour freckles and solid colour shaded finger wrinkles.

if your case in point is The Incredibles then you completely missed the point.

GlacierDragon 05-11-2008 02:17 AM

You would like to see me make one of those? Ahhh! I wouldn't dare! I abandoned 3D due to my terribleness at it! Yeh Pixar do make some good models and fur textures and things, I have nothing against that, I just don't like the films they make (thinking about the storylines here). Saying that, I do prefer CG movies where the charactors look more realiatic.

The rat looks cute, considering at has a weird nose.

...
They weren't talking about the story, were they? Pixar is ah-may-zeeng simply because of Toy Story. I wub Toy Story.

Wings of Fire 05-11-2008 05:15 AM

Pixar is good but classic Disney is far better.

I just watched Beauty and the Beast for about the thousandth time and I dare anyone to watch this clip without feeling any compulsion to sing along.

Classic Disney just seems to have far more style than all this CGI tosh (With the exception of the Toy Stories)

Nate 05-11-2008 06:09 AM

GlacierDragon: I disagree with you completely. It's the focus on stories that keep Pixar on a rank so much higher than any of the other CG studios. Monster's Inc, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles all have excellent plots, none of which could ever have been produced live action.

GlacierDragon 05-11-2008 06:20 AM

I prefer horror and monster movies :) which is why I rarely watch Pixar/Disney. But that's just my opinion. I understand that Pixar are very popular. Heck, i even used to like their stuff when I was younger!

Anonyman! 05-11-2008 06:24 AM

...Just because you are older doesn't mean you can't appreciate the classics. Also, Hunchback of Notre Dame FTW!

Disgruntled Intern 05-11-2008 07:57 AM

Fox and the Hound.

Ten dollars to anyone that produces the clip of the badger chasing them off.

Seriously. Via paypal.

Pixar has a lot of movies where the solid color is an issue. The Incredibles for one, Toy Story is another and a bunch of other movies. Of course they have some good work too but in general I just don't like the comic style Pixar always uses.

Leto 05-11-2008 01:19 PM

mostly bad

Hahaha, changes from 'THEYRE SO SHIT SOLIDCOLOUR' to '...i just don't like them...'

AHAHAHAHAHAHA Grow up.

Havoc 05-11-2008 02:59 PM

I never changed anything. But if you want to get into an argument about it be my guest. I know Pixar is aimed at making kids movies so it's all about round shapes and pretty colors, but that doesn't mean I have to like the STYLE now do I? I don't like a movie where a dude's nose is bigger then an entire jew. And granted they do make some very nice sets in 3D which look pretty real, but if you're going to make the enviorment detailed then the characters should be just as detailed and that's where Pixar always fucks up. Not model wise, but texture wise.

Leto 05-11-2008 03:09 PM

fair enough. can't argue an opinion.

Bullet Magnet 05-11-2008 05:05 PM

I wrote a short essay on the merits of Pixar under some context or other here on the forums. The whole thread was duly lost during a time-travelling update, damn you Alcar!

Anonyman! 05-11-2008 06:17 PM

Heh, the whole Pixar thing is what makes TF2 so awesome. You know other than gameplay.

I disagree. They're not making simple, childlike designs - they're producing stylised designs because they can actually add to the story. They're not interested in making photorealistic human characters because then what would be the point in using CG?

Bullet Magnet 05-11-2008 06:48 PM

They may have excellent graphics, lighting, texturing, animation and world realisation, but they're still cartoons.

skillyaslig 05-11-2008 08:17 PM

Hell, I like both of them. I do enjoy Pixars lovely way of creating an interesting story line.

Cartoons are good. They help us to see beyond the life-restricting abilities we were granted!

Hehe, I just loved Ratatouille! It was so cute, but a wee bit long for moi.

I fail to see your point.

Leto 05-11-2008 09:33 PM

I see his point.

I think what he means is that they're not trying to be realistic, because at the root of it all they're still cartoons, which on the most part are heavily stylized.

Nate 05-11-2008 11:53 PM

Well, yes. But he used the word 'cartoon' to signify something negative.

Bullet Magnet 05-12-2008 06:42 PM

That was not my intention.

I meant that they're just the same as any caricatures and stylised environments seen in traditional 2D cell animation, but rendered in 3D in technical detail. That they have highly realistic lighting effects and individual hair-wind simulation doesn't put any compunction on the animators and artists to produce a photo-realistic cast. They're just higher quality versions of Homer³.

skillyaslig 05-12-2008 08:54 PM

You're so smart BM. Could I borrow your brain for my Science test tomorrow?

Cartoons are still good! You can make things do stuff they wouldn't normally do....Like with Over The Hedge, or as we are currently chatting about, Ratatouille. In real life you couldn't train a rat that way. And I doubt you could find one with blue-grey fur that was that tame.

Bullet Magnet 05-12-2008 09:21 PM

Or indeed, able to speak.

OANST 05-22-2008 02:24 PM

I saw Tideland, recently. I think I liked it. I think. The obvious thing that upset people in the film I actually found to be quite sweet. Overall, it was interesting.

I've also been watching a British comedy called "Peep Show" which I have been thoroughly enjoying. The only problem I can see is that you damn Brits have way too short of seasons. Six episodes a year is just not enough, dammit. The average American show runs far too long in comparison. 24-27 episodes is too many to keep a coherent, tight story. But thirteen would be the perfect number.

Havoc 05-22-2008 02:59 PM

24 epi's is perfect. It allows for a story line to be told in much more detail and still has room for some off-topic episodes every once in a while. And of course some of us are just TV serie junkies who need something to watch every single week.

OANST 05-22-2008 03:11 PM

I just have a strong dislike for filler episodes.

Havoc 05-22-2008 03:14 PM

Depending on what happens in them. But generally I kinda like em.

Bullet Magnet 05-22-2008 05:13 PM

British shows don't tend to have more writers than cast members, so to keep up the quality (and health of the writers) six is the usual number of episodes. This may be why our comedy shows have such different flavours.

Disgruntled Intern 05-22-2008 10:27 PM

I just saw Son of Rambow and I liked it. It made me laugh. It also made me sad.

Graham Norton and Eddie Izzard, brilliant...

I saw Iron Man a week ago. I liked it more than I thought I would.

Indeed. It's a shame that because of a few flops they decided to pack up the traditional animation studio forever. Those films weren't half bad either.
