In the last couple of weeks I've seen Children of Men, Trainspotting, American Psycho and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Enjoyed all of them. CoM was pretty dark and depressing. Trainspotting was just great. American Psycho is awesome and more people need to see it. Most quotable thriller movie ever. ESotSM was a wee bit confusing, but I enjoyed it, especially all the interesting techniques used to show the memories were being deleted. Some really cool stuff in there. I also bought Fight Club and plan on watching that soon, as I've only seen it once, and wasn't paying attention at the start because I don't like the name. |
12 Monkeys is very cool! I haven't seen it in a long while.
Loved Children of Men, good soundtrack too. Eternal Sunshine was quite good with the face erasion, don't know if I'd watch it again. Yesterday I watched SOOTY AND SWEEP! |
Ahh, my sister persuaded me to watch The Notebook again. I cried, like a baby. That damn movie always make me bawl my eyes out, damn it!
|
I saw Sweeny Todd on Saturday, and I liked it a lot. Depp was as hot as ever, I love Helena, and Rickman was as wonderful as he always is.
But that's from what I saw, anyway. I was pre-occupied with holding hands and other general lovey-dovey stuff with my date. To be honest, I had a hard-on for most of the movie :D Alcar... |

I have just seen... 8 1/2 Women, finally, after having watched half of it ages ago but was just too tired to go on. I loved its frankness about sex (the two main characters, a son and a father sleep together, then the father goes on to explain how his father was tall and had a big cock; cool, no?). And like the other Greenaway film I've seen, it felt big and archetypal, with a fairly strict structure, as this recently bereaved old-guy fills up his big ol' house with concubines he picks up from all over.
Slightly too long, probably, but quirky and very interesting, the sort of film the British film industry should produce more often, rather than dreary social realism (read: they're cheap to make!), uninspired period dramas and shit comedies. |
I don't know if I'm quite ready for some of your incest films MF. :tard:

I challenge you to name two good Kevin Spacey comedies that aren't American Beauty.
Now, if you'd said Kevin Smith... |
I certainly think Britain produces the best TV comedy in the world (saying that, I've yet to see it all), but our comedy films are mostly shit.
|
You both have an excellent point.
I shall shut up now and replace the name Kevin Spacey with Robin Williams. |
Finally watched Cloverfield. Better than I expected, gotta be pretty elite to just not like it.
|
Kevin Smith is a big windbag with stupid hair and poor taste in clothing.
He started out so strong. But now? Jesus, he's a cock. |
I saw Sweeny Todd and thought it was fantastic.
If you can't bare musicals or Tim Burton you'll hate it completely, however. |
Hmm, Sweeny Todd?
isn't that... A) A section of the police "flying squad" B) A british cop drama starring John Thaw C) A Victorian barber who slit customers throuts and gave the corpses to a pie shop next do to turn into pies? which is the film about? |
C)
Johnny Depp. Fucking yum. |

Super Munch, I vote C. |
The Lives of Others!!
Magnificent. A really understated, gorgeous piece of film. I was surprised about how thematically leaning it was toward art amongst all the political thrillering, although that may be my own interests warping the film. Long live Germany! The ending is perfection. Atonement!! Watched it again on DVD. Still fantastic. The ending is just absolutely devastating. Was supposed to go see Sweeny Todd, and I really want to, it looks marvellous, I love Helena Bonham Carter, but we decided to drink some more instead. And No Country for Old Men increasingly looks like a very thin, slight piece of film. I want to see it, cos it's the Coen bros, but the plot and character thrust from what I've gathered seems disappointingly simplistic. So much for the film made by adults, for adults. :) We shall see. I'm prepared to eat my words, delicious as they always are. |
Watched Saw IV last week. Expected it to be crap, ended up awsome.
|
Whoa. The contrast there just made me do a double take.

I just saw Jaws for the first time in an extremely long time. Still manages to scare me a bit. God it's good. And the shark I admit does look a bit fake but not as fake as the one they have in Universal Studios. (Probrably spelt wrong)
|
I saw Jumper over the weekend and thought it was pretty good. Hayden Christensen and Jamie Bell were both excellent. On the other hand, I think that movie-makers should put a moratorium on casting Samuel L. Jackson until he learns how to play a second type of character.
The only major objection I had was that it seemed like they cut out an exposition scene where it was explained why the bad guys hate the good guys. As it is, it just doesn't make any sense. |
I still haven't seen the goddam barber movie and I'm the one with a very genuine man-crush on Tim Burton. I am pissed as of this very moment.
I just saw The Bucket List, which I saw solely because I have equally genuine man-crushes on Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, and I thought it was decent. Being the movie hippie that I am, I usually watch Sundance-esque stuff. |
Yay, watcher thread, lol. Kay, I saw;
Alien VS Predator, the new one. ROCKED. watch it, the effects are brillinat! I loved it XD |
Just saw The Eye in the theater. Great work for a horror/thriller movie. Not many of those manage to scare the living shit out of me but this one did. All scare moments are at the exact places where you least expect them and that's how a good thriller should be! :D

Man I really love asian movies...
Try watching "Silk"... Supposed to be a horror movie.. Did leave me with an uneased feeling, but it really kept me on edge during the whole thing. Has an interesting and great story line. It's about a group of scientists capturing the energy of a ghost-child with the help of this new energy-device... It sounds cheesy, but it's not. It's great and has quality like most asian films :D |
I'll keep that in mind :).
Also watched The Forgotten on TV last night. Didn't think I'd find it a very interesting movie but I did. Somehow sucked me right in, constant plot twists FTW! |
I saw Oldboy. That's good stuff. Good Asian stuff.
|
I saw Ratatouille last weekend. No one does CG like Pixar, GODDAMN.
Jumper was AWFUL excluding everything about the book that was removed Hayden Christensen and his god-awful acting just made it horrible. Only likeable character was the British jumper because he was such a badass. |
Most new movies are mediocre..... I call the 80's the Golden Era of movies.. Seriously. The best movies came out then.

HOLY BALLS YOU'RE RIGHT

A movie about zombie-cellphones and zombie-cameras would be fucking ace! What films do they feature in and where can I buy them?
|
The book 'Cell' by Steven King ABOUT TRANSMITIONS SENT TO PEOPLE THROUGH THEIR CELL PHONES TURNING THEM INTO MINDLESS ZOMBIESjust begs to be made into a movie.
I for one pray Mr King never does more damage to his reputation by releasing another godawful second rate sci fi horror. |
They don't stay mindless zombies... THEY BECOME BORG

Voice mail machines are neither cellphones nor cameras :/ And no you wouldn't have watched much Stephen King because you're under the age of 15. |
:
I'm not under the age of 15, I'm at the age of 15. (Big difference, I know :)) EDIT: :
|
Saw Doomsday yesterday. Pretty good movie but weak ending :p.
