I just saw Premium Rush. It was quite entertaining. I laughed often at people falling off so many bikes even though much of it was cg. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is still one of my favorite actors ever since I saw him in Inception.
|
He was great in the new Batman, too. Also Looper, even though I didn't care too much for that movie.
|
So does John die at the end?
Also any Australians on here, please watch ABC3 this sunday night at 8:15. |
|
|
So I read the summary.
It sounds horrible. It sounds so horrible that I might watch it ironically because there's nothing else good on at that time. |
You should. It's dark and scary and totally not age-appropriate for ABC's children's programming.
Lots of us are planning to watch it and cause it to get good ratings so that it makes it to episode 3 and permanently scars tons of kids. |

Ok, I'm actually intrigued now. I haven't watched an anime since the first season of Code Geass a few years ago. I'll make sure I catch it on iView if I miss it.
|
Give it, oh say, three episodes to stand a head above the rest. It's definitely a slow starter.
|
I'll agree that it's slow for the first two or so episodes, after that though it's ahead of its game.

I suppose that's a spoiler of sorts, but not an enormous one. |
Oh boy, new trailer.
|
:
I won’t though. |
Thing is...it doesn't look bad. It just doesn't look fun the way Evil Dead is supposed to be.
Manco am speedy shit. |

I'll watch the new Evil Dead. Not in theaters, but I'll still watch it. I had read that Diablo Cody wrote the first draft, which was an immediate repellent for me because I hate that talentless skank.
Knowing that Raimi is producing and writing is good news. There can't be executive meddling if he's the executive, and it's his baby. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it won't suffer from too much Hollywood decay. It looks like they kept the gore, which is good. We need to get out of this awful PG-13 Horror trend. |
|
I saw Django Unchained yesterday, it was a good movie, but fuck me, three hours? I don't think it had to be three hours at all. Wonderfully shot though, that was the redemption of the last 40 or so minutes that shouldn't have been there.
|
I agree that the section with the three Australian gentleman was unnecessary, and added too much bloat to the film. But I'd be hard pressed to find another scene I would want dropped.
|
Besides that scene, you're right. I felt the same way about Inglorious Basterds too. That is was too long, but I couldn't pick a scene that I would want cut out. Django is much better than IG, though.

Has anyone here seen Twin Peaks? Is it worth watching?
|

Yeah, I've scrolled past it so many times. I recall attempting the first season but gave up because I found the setup way too slow.
I'm gonna give it a shot for real soon. |
I saw the first episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I enjoyed it enough. It was nothing too exciting, but I want to see where it goes. It didn't feel like it ran for 30 minutes, which is a good sign.
I looked on the ABC 3 guide and it looks like this is the only episode they're airing. It looks like I have something to spend my Christmas JB Hifi gift cards on. |
When I brought that show up in a conversation with Joe he didn't recommend I watch it because I hadn't seen enough magical girl shows to get the references.
Hiding something, Phylum? |
twin peaks is really good in the same awful way that most David Lynch things are.
one of my friends talked me into watching dr.who. I fell asleep 15 minutes in. she was upset. |
:
As I recall, I was recommending Higurashi and you noted that all the pluses I had for that you'd also heard for Madoka which also wasn't a show you intended to watch. I know enough not to push someone so I agreed that if reading up about Madoka didn't strike your fancy and you didn't have an interest in magical girl shows then while still being fantastic, it's not essential. Of course, this was before my second watch through the series where I remembered why I was impatiently waiting for every new episode while it was airing. Also you probably already know this, but it was written by the same guy who wrote Saya no Uta. Also Mami's theme. Way a-head of everything else on the soundtrack. |
