And I get that it's ten years later. I'm not fucking stupid. What is fucking stupid was the decision to go with this plot rather than the proposed prequel that they ended up scrapping. That aside, it seems like that because it's ten years later and "the setting's designed from the ground up to look like things have gone to shit", this gave the designers an excuse to recycle backgrounds. Constantly. Everything was just bland, mediocre, and rehashed. It could have been way better. It was just all substandard for bioshock. As for the boss fight of the first game, I'll agree that it was weak, but first person shooters and boss fights rarely work well. Still, I thought the 'good' ending for the first was pretty decent. But whatever. |

Besides, what did you expect? There's no way they could have made every single harvest unique. :
:
I think the problem is that it's a sequel to a very good, very popular game. Because of that, it's very easy to compare the two, and yeah I completely agree that it's just not as good. But I think that, on its own merits, it's not a bad game. |

|
Wait, they scrapped it? Wasn't it the one based in some cloud city?
|
:
Bioshock 2 was meant to be a Rapture based prequel to Bioshock. |
You mean before the whole ADAM tits up thing?
That actually sounded better. It would've been nice to see a Bioshock level where everything is not ruined or leaking. |

Deus Ex Human Revolution is going to be awesome.
|
agreed. also looking forward to the gunstringer.

I remember this trailer, don't know why I didn't post it then. Seems really interesting.

Also, this is freaking me out. |
This looks like it could be fun:
But I'm generally excited by any Kinect game that doesn't look gimmicky and boring like the majority of the launch titles thus far. Also not really a game [although it does come bundled with one], but we just pre-ordered this: http://cdn.pocket-lint.com/images/Bs...0110722-110756 |
I'd rather have a bundle with a blue and white Kinect, console and a controller. The golden controller and the game itself puts me off. Kind of cool though.
|
I love super mario galaxy 1, just don't have the second one yet. might be getting it.

Yeah, I understand. My Xbox is also an old 60GB model. I've been thinking of getting a new Xbox, I saw a deal with Kinect and an 250GB Xbox Slim for roughly 250€, that's a damn good price for a Kinect and the console. But then again, a Kinect wouldn't probably work in my room so I'd have to use the console and the Kinect in the living room.
Choices, choices... |
You Xbox louts finally get to join in the murderously frustrating fun.
Remember, Spelunky was making you tear your hair out before Super Meat Boy made it cool. Anyone interested should give the PC version a go, it's fundamentally the same, looks better in my opinion, has better music, and will have you addicted in 7.4 minutes. The first time you get chased by a giant spider you may piss yourself. Just a warning. EDIT: Squeee~! Mk. 3 Iron helms! |
Damn, Hard Reset looks really awesome. Only for PC though.
|
Double post, but I had to say that Borderlands 2 was officially confirmed!

There's a legacy of cop-outs when it comes to choice, you see. |
Lol at this trailer. Really want this game. :p

So I went to Quakecon, got to play Rage and see demos of Prey 2 and Skyrim.
Rage was honestly better than I expected. The visuals are really impressive, especially since its running at 60 FPS, there are few games even in the same league. The only complaints I can find are LOD(texture pop-in) and the lack of AA. Both of which are amended in the PC version, I played the 360 one since I prefer the controller, but saw the PC version and it looked visibly better. The gun play is great, you can hold up to four guns at once, with some guns having alternate fire. The AI is also robust, I died several times in the harder level I played through, the soldiers reminded me of the Elites from the Halo series, which is a very good thing. They flank, roll, take cover, and rush in when you start to take damage. I also played a racing segment, which was also fun, reminded me a lot of the racing in the Jak games. The only problem I found with this is that it seemed like sometimes the game would tell you a rocket is coming at you, but you can't do anything about it. I died right before the finish line and that sort of angered me that they dont have some sort of move to get rockets off your tail, since they are so abundant. Overall Rage seemed like a really fun game, but nothing more than a rental for me. The multiplayer is only races and deathmatches in the buggies, which I don't imagine will bolster a lasting community and the gameplay, while competent, does nothing to set itself apart in a sea of shooters, other than being really good looking. On to Skyrim next. They showed us an extension of the E3 demo we saw, I assume the press has already seen this. The guy playing went through a started on a mountain, went through a village, a dungeon, and ended in a dragon fight. The graphics are greatly improved from Oblivion, the animations specially almost look a generation ahead of what Oblivion had. There was a lot of different weapons and magic shown off, along with some new dragon shouts. You can mix and match different spells, resulting in some cool effects. There is a spell that lets you see all living things in the immediate area, coupled with another that sends the enemy into a rage and it will kill other enemies. He mixed and matched a lot of other things, I can't put it all in one post, just ask and I will tell you what I know. I dont know if they have showed off glass weapons before, but they look like the ones from Morrowind more than Oblivion, which I like. They didn't show any new races. The Prey 2 demo wasn't near as expansive as Skyrim's, unfortunately. It did show off some new interrogation stuff, threatening people, and interacting with NPCs, whether saving them or killing them. We were shown capturing a new bounty alive and then the demo they showed off at E3 kicked in, albeit played a bit differently because of AI. You can ask me questions about this, but they really didn't show anything new. Im still really excited for it though. |
The Quakecon demo of Skyrim:
Looks fucking awesome. Now I'm sure I'll get this. Oh, and the collector's edition was revealed: http://cdn.gamerant.com/wp-content/u...rs-Edition.jpg Nice statue, but if you really want that you'll have to pay 130£. Damn. |
Worth it.
|
So worth it.
|
That collector's edition? Eh, don't know about that. They could've added a lot more content for that price tag. And what the fuck's up with the pricing, 130£ in UK, 150€ in the rest of Europe and 150$ in the US. That's unfair.
The ME3 collector's edition on the other hand looks really good. And it's only about 90€. http://playstationlifestyle.net/wp-c...on-685x514.jpg Oh, and don't take this post as in that I don't like Skyrim, (I'm fucking hyped for it.) it's just that the collector's edition is a bit dull and for that price, they could add more stuff to it. At least some cool in-game content. |
