abe is now! 06-10-2008 02:54 AM

Abe is now! That level is ‘Brewery to Be’, which takes place in a valley surrounding a windmill temple. Scrabs live in the valley. The Scrubs are kept in industrial pens—you can see the entrance to one—so if Abe tries to free the Scrubs while the Scrubs are still around, loss of Mudokon life will shortly follow. Abe and Munch need to lure the Scrabs into holding pens first.

Ok, thank you, I remember the GBA version of MO that I could play, but it isn't the same thing.

It’s a design for Munch’s Oddysee, why would Squeek be there. It’s just some Mudokon guide.

In fact there is a picture when they reach a village upon Mongo River where there are other Mudokons that look like the one in the Song Engine's picture.

Munch's Master 06-10-2008 10:36 AM

Max, the sketches by the 1%er in the OWI studio pic, what are they? One looks to be a Slig, or is it an unseen sketch? Do we even know?

Sanssouci 06-10-2008 01:25 PM

1%ers with flying harnesses instead of legs. The label above them says 'Flying 1%er'.
Further along is Abe.

Munch's Master 06-11-2008 10:05 AM

Are there any better quality pics of these pics, as I have never seen them and would love to.

Wil 06-11-2008 02:29 PM

Only the one in TOGG, and the Flying version in the Art of book.

mudling 06-12-2008 03:01 AM

AIS, you're talking about the picture in the art book, depicting abe travling to the underground secret mudokon city.
It is just concept art, but abe and munch were supposed to travel to the hideouts of the native mudokons, probably similar to the mosaic lines.
But that could have been for ME, I don't realy know.

abe is now! 06-12-2008 04:22 AM

I have question: it is about AE. In the first CD, when Abe is in the Necrum (I mean Mudomo and Mudanchee Vault too) and when you are checking some sorystones you can see some strange symbol and hieroglyphs... especially in the crypt (http://www.oddworld.com/firsttenyear...temple_cg.html)... what are they? Could they be an ancient Mudokons's language?

Ah, I do not have the Art of Oddworld. I take it posting pics from it is a no-no?

How would I go about getting it in the UK, Internet order?

Jordan 06-12-2008 09:27 AM

Posting pictures from it isn't allowed unfortunately. I ordered my copy from here. It's a fantastic site, and it also sends you a free catalog every now and again.

Zerox 06-12-2008 12:01 PM

I ordered mine from the source, Ballistic Publishing itself. Even the softback is a pretty penny though. Bear in mind it's not cheap, and being that it's somewhat outdated is rather irritating, but if you like Oddworld, it's invaluable.

EDIT: That was a new one though. Second hand ones from other sources may be cheaper, maybe eBay, Amazon...?

What else can they be? That's what hieroglyphs were for in ancient civilizations -- a way to preserve spoken language. Ancient Mudokons probably didn't know how to do this without illustrating someone's words. Now, they use Industrial Language (sadly). I have a question: What is this Super Smash Bros. Brawl video, and why does it have Abe in it?

Xavier 06-12-2008 10:44 PM

Abe in Brawl? I want to see that, but Youtube doesn't let me, it says the video is unavailable.

The player’s username is Abe.

Xavier 06-13-2008 02:31 AM

Wow, biggest disappointment in a long time...

this is beyond pointless

Jordan 06-13-2008 06:56 AM

MeechShrykull, I'm sorry, but you're a bloody idiot sometimes... It's quite obvious that isn't Abe.

MeechShrykull1029 06-13-2008 01:18 PM

No, this video is not the same as the one I posted. The one I posted actually had Abe. It even had a part of the AO ending video. If the link doesn't work, just go to YouTube, and type in "Super Smash Bros. Brawl Parody", and you will see the video I posted.

Well that was self explanatory, I advise you to look up 'Parody' in a dictionary the next chance you get.

EDIT for AIN as I don't think this shit deserves another of my posts.

abe is now! 06-14-2008 11:45 PM

@ MeechShrykull1029: I searched for it in youtube and there are a lot of videos. WHY D0N'T YOU EMBED THAT MOVIE WITH THE CODE AND NOT WITH THE LINK?

mudling 06-19-2008 04:37 AM

MeechShrykull, you need to stop taking things so literally, and relax a little. ;)
Oh, and I would very much like to see this movie you made aswell. :)
As for my question, most of the mods seem to know, or at least pretending they know alot about oddworld that we don't, now my question isn't how many people did you sleep with to get this information believe it or not, it's actually:
Is there anything more that you can tell us at this stage? :)
God, how low can I get, not even hovelling to a developer for information, but fans...

Nate 06-19-2008 05:25 AM

Mainly, the mods have read my coming soon interview with Lorne Lanning. It will be on OddBlog as soon as he give the thumbs up that I haven't included any of the stuff that he said was off the record.

Xavier 06-19-2008 07:27 AM

and there's other stuff too...

but Max thinks it raises too many questions :p

don't worry, everything we have will eventually be shown to you.

MeechShrykull1029 06-19-2008 04:04 PM

What are Elderlings, Guardians, Lusks, Musklums and Scoots/Worry Fish?

Wil 06-19-2008 04:27 PM

Elderlings: The Raisin is one, possibly the only one. They start as elder trees and develop from there.

Guardians: The tusked creature Abe lands on as he blasts out of Necrum Mines are the fossilized remains of one of these creatures that once defended Necrum from invaders.

Lusks: Marauders, so ruthless as to turn on each other.

Musklums: No idea, looks like some kind of hunter to me.

Scoots: The fish seen briefly at the start of Munch’s Oddysee. They are called Worry Fish because they always look worried that they’ll be eaten.

abe is now! 06-21-2008 01:30 AM

I have never understood... what is it: http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAMO0028.jpg1?

MeechShrykull1029 06-21-2008 07:20 AM

It looks like they wanted to make MO 2D at first, but decided to make it 3D. This screenshot is probably from the time AE was never planned.

Bullet Magnet 06-21-2008 07:36 AM

That's a high-quality render/painting of the Paramonian Temple's interior. It's artwork, promotional or conceptual.

MeechShrykull1029 06-21-2008 07:47 AM

It is from MO. When you click on "Back", it gives you other MO rendered art.

Xavier 06-21-2008 10:51 AM

I've put it in the MO section because it was released among other MO pictures...

I don't know what it's supposed to be, perhaps a concept of Paramonia in 3D.

MeechShrykull1029 06-21-2008 12:11 PM

It gives me a theory of what MO was planned to be like. I already have a theory about what AO was planned to be like.

Bullet Magnet 06-21-2008 11:08 PM

We know what AO was planned to be like. Abraham Lure would start out as a fisherman with his elum in the wild, and be introduced to the industrial world later, one way or another.
