What's wrong with being proud of who you are? It's great that groups of people who have traditionally been discriminated against are now proud of that attribute of their identity. Whether they be gays, blacks, or whomever.

Why shouldn't someone be proud of something just because they had no choice about it? You don't have a choice of what country you're born in, but you still get Patriots (who are, I admit, mostly nutcases, and so probably a bad example.
