Perhaps you should learn to show more respect to an Admin in future. I've seen some questionable spam posts from you also... if you keep it up, I can simply ban you and you will not be able to post again. At least Jacob can have a good discussion without getting all nasty about it... differing opinions make for a discussion.

Abe Babe...

Actually I don't consider Oddworld a very childish game... it is actually too "dark" for most kids to play... childish games are those like Pokemon and the Mario games (to give examples).
I think its relativly childish, its got a dark undertone but the colours, gameplay and gamespeak is quite child-like (MO is, not AO or AE...the 1st two aint that childish.)

:

I think there is a lot more to being a teenager than "schoolyard popularity". I never cared what people thought... in fact I never had a boyfriend in school, and that suited me fine. Sure a lot of people care about status and that... but not everyone does. I'd much rather be my own person than do what everyone else is doing just because it's "cool" or "acceptable".
Some people are like this and id rather be like that than like what i am. Not being accepted has caused quite a few suicides, which is a shame. But with the majority of teens they have a "need" to be accepted, hence why most teen programmes (Byker Grove, Grange Hill) and teen documentaries (Teen Species) focus around the popularity point and the need for teens to be socially accepted.

:

Another part of a relationship is that both need to be tolerant of the other. You can't "force" a person to change. You need to respect their beliefs and interests. You don't have to agree with them... but you should respect them and not try to give them an ultimatium (sp?). If you truly cared for someone, you'd like them for who they are. That's part of loving someone. Maybe in Molluck's case this is different, as it's a teenage relationship, not a serious one. But that's more the reason to not force the person. If she really cared for him, she shouldn't care if Oddworld is not popular amongst teenagers at their school. Plus if she is only going out with him to "boost her status" as you say... then that's "really" a wrong reason to start a relationship with someone in the first place, regardless of what age one is.
I totally agree with this. I usually make a joke about things like this, you have to know me quite well to get it though. Its basically about me marrying a really butch, masculine woman who breaks wind and finds it funny and watches football. She's basically be the "man" of the house while i'd be the "woman" who is really feminine and finds breaking wind in public repulsive and who would prefare to watch a good Soap than football anyday. Basically Mollucks in a teen relationship and although teen relationships last longer than younger relationships its inevitable that they'll break up. 18+ is when the longer lasting relationships start. However, a tip; Dont get too attached at this early age...it'll destroy you when u break up.

Jacob is back and once again every topic he visits turns into a battle to find out who is the most mature member with the best life. Thanks Jacob.

C'mon people give it a rest. Why does everyone care so much about eveyone elses views on life. I for one would love to give you people a piece of my mind but for the sake of these forums I won't. We are here to talk about Oddworld, not sex and maturity.

Mac the Janitor 07-11-2002 07:53 PM

I can see what you're saying, Khanz, but it does not actually sound like a contest, more like a conversation with different views and ethics. Sure, they've disagreed on a few things, but they do it curteously.

Cloverfield 07-13-2002 12:22 AM

You know the funny thing is ... I agree with most of what you say Jacob! Although our views are different, I agree with your view that there are people who care about social status, it's just the way things are... so there's nothing more to say ... other than ... thanks for a good short discussion! :)

Hee! You weren't here when Jacob was a newbie to the forums....there were insults being hurled [constantly] and he used shorthand. *shudders*

Now, he's one of my 'favourite' forumites. He does like a good debate, and he makes his opinion[s] known...But he usually does so in a fairly tactful manner, and is always open to the opinion[s] of others. [for the most part, anyway.] So, Khanz, ease off.

That's funny, I thought I moved this to General Oddworld Discussion.

*moves*

Is it? Munch's Oddysee is a mind-numbingly childish game. No child I know likes the Abe's games. I don't think it has anything to do with darkness I think it's because the controls didn't really seem 'fluid' enough to really be childish.
