Abe the legend 07-15-2002 04:41 PM

Just a thought...

There may have been a legend saying whatever paw shape the meteor shower makes on the moon would be the ruler of oddworld.:fuzcool:

Kaimana 07-15-2002 04:50 PM

I think it would be more hero then ruler. as we come to understand Abe as a hero and not a ruler.

TheKhanzumer 07-15-2002 08:22 PM

What you say makes sense. Perhaps the glukkon-mudokon conflict was sparked by a prophecy that the moons would reveal the true saviors of oddworld. Maybe it was one of the Raisin's earlier prophetic ramblings. This is the best compromise between the two "moon stories" I have heard so far. Good thinking AbetheLegend!

Kaimana 07-15-2002 08:30 PM

But if it was a prophecy, why would they try to out prove each other. instead of just wait to find out?:fuzconf:

TheKhanzumer 07-15-2002 08:38 PM

Who knows? Why do people on earth have conflicts? Usually it is over stupid things which get turned into major things. In the end, people forget what had even caused the conflict since they end up fighting for entirely different reasons.

Maybe both sides were worried in the beginning that the other would be the "Chosen Race". So they thought, "Hey, who cares what the Raisin says, if we dominate the other species how can they be the 'Chosen Race'?" And the conflict began.

Kaimana 07-15-2002 08:41 PM

Yes that makes sense. ok im cool. nice theory ATL.

Abe the legend 07-16-2002 05:20 PM

No Errors That I've Seen

The only things we really, truly know about the Oddworld universe are the things we've seen in the three games that have been released. Anything else we've seen or heard is not carved in stone so there haven't been any errors whatsoever as far as continuity goes. Keep in mind that there is not even a hint of where Abe's moon came from in any of the games. I would also guess that Lorne Lanning's tongue was pressed firmly in his cheek when he made that meteor shower quote. Honestly, do you guys think that he's going to try to say that the same thing happened when Munch's moon was seen at the end of MO? I would certainly hope not. I would also speculate that Lorne Lanning does not have the entire story planned out already. He probably adds some things in here and there when the games are published. Again this is just speculation. Anyhow, no errors have been published in the games, which are the medium through which the Oddworld story is told.

Oddsville 07-17-2002 11:15 AM

Actully Lorne Lanning has had his story planned out way before OWI started. Now keep in mind he may not have every single detail written but he dose have the whole story written out and now he's just converting it from a movie to a game. Another thing why would Lorne say something about the moon that wasn't true? and remember just because it hasn't been told in one of the games dosn't mean we don't have info about it. There are tons of interviews with little tidbits of info and don't forget the site which has vast amounts of info.

Hold On A Minute

You're missing the key point, here. How the moon was created is most likely not an important detail in the Oddworld story and Lorne Lanning just made something up to answer the interview question. And once again, the only things we really, truly know and the only things that are carved in stone and cannot be changed are what we've seen in the games, not what we've seen in the interviews. Even great minds like Lorne Lanning's can change.

I guess in all my typing I forgot to welcome you to the fourms. Welcome, and as Im sure you know Im Oddsville. Origanlly the meteor shower theory about the moon was going to be in the begining of AE but it was scrapped. If it was than it would be solid evidance like you wanted.
