Just waiting to tell you.............I respect your answer though....
This is the post you're so proud of. I read it a long time ago and I didn't respond because most of it makes no sense and what little that does adds little to the discussion. More importantly, you have given no indication that you have even read, never mind tried to understand, the various points I have made. You simply contend that she should take the money in installments while citing reasons for doing so that don't make any sense.

First 2 sentences: Is she going to invest it or isn't she? If she doesn't take the lump sum, she can't invest what the lottery is holding onto. The lottery isn't investing it for her. They're taking a little itty bitty piece of money and investing it will grow into the 1/20th or 1/40th of her prize they will owe her when it is due.

What does bank insurance have to do with anything?

My bank account/certificate of deposit illustration was just made to show that even the most pathetic invesment vehicle will earn you pots of money when you have $50 million to invest. She should actually buy stocks, bonds, mutual funds, in the hopes of earning 10% or better.

"it is unwise to spend it now" Sure it is, but she's not going to spend $50 million all in one place. A really, really, really nice car can be had for a few 10s of thousands.

I could address more individual aspects of this post, but it would be pointless, because you will be back here telling me how dreadfully wrong and misinformed I am.

This is my last serious response to you, morphius. If you are just a young kid who's too ignorant to understand how little you understand about the world, who has learned a few big words and has a hankering to philosophize, than I am sorry that I have been hostile and belittling to you. But you have to learn to shut up and soak up a little of your surroundings before you start spouting off about this and that. Right now you don't make any sense. If you are an adult or close to being an adult, then I pity you.

The bottom line, however, is that you have made it abundantly clear that you are not equipped to carry on a logical discussion about any of the topics that you have ventured into over the last day and a half. So, I am finished responding to you.

First of all you can still invest the money when you take long term plan, and (short term) the bank will only insure (cd) so much money so you do not wants millions of dollars unsured, and if you spread it out do you know how hard it will be to manage the funds? I can tell you it will be impossible.........Next the money will be worth a lot more in the future so why spend it now?...On top of the fact she will be losing about 60%-you my friend are not listening..........Last you however do not know about funds, and you are not being realistic and for carrying on logical explanation? I have and when did I not...........? Why dont you just gaze at some of my other posts?

Thank you for proving my point so perfectly. I am completely at peace now knowing I've done the right thing. Goodbye, morphius.

morphius 04-20-2002 05:31 PM

When exactly did I prove your point.........? Doug I will say this again you do not have any other aspects to prove, and you are ignorant however, and how does it not make sense (what i wrote)? You are right you can put it in stocks but the key is in hopes of money..........

morphius 04-20-2002 05:39 PM

where did I go wrong? I hope you do not invest by yourself in the future, hopefully you have an advisor (I hope).

Danny 04-21-2002 02:25 PM

I don't want to intrude upon your argument (which Doug seems to be handling just fine), but I feel I ought to point out to you that, if you click the button in the bottom-right-hand corner of your post (labelled "Edit") you can Edit your post, surprisingly enough. That would negate the need to double-post. Although if the only amendment you are going to make it to insult other forumers, you're probably better off not bothering...

Al the Vykker 04-21-2002 03:39 PM

lets stop fighting

morphius 04-21-2002 03:50 PM

I am quite aware of the edit button and I was insulted first........

Well...use it.

Oooohh, this is jolly. How come Morph always thinks he can win arguments. I have actually learned that Danny, Doug, Dequibenzo and Faz are really good at proving their points...however...Morph seems to try and confuse them with 'logic' which...makes no sense. Also, he didn't answer my Q'z which i found HIGHLY rude.

morphius 04-21-2002 05:11 PM

Jacob, Most of the time I find your manners highly rude, and when did I not make sense? I only discuss........

(1)Jacob, Most of the time I find your manners highly rude, (2)and when did I not make sense?(3) I only discuss........
(1) - My manners do not matter, for you will not be the ones judging me in the end.

(2) - Your logic baffles me...how entertaining.

(3) - I only observe.

I heard that too. I can't remember where, though. Something on TV...

Steve 04-21-2002 06:11 PM

there was a lottery a while back where the chance of winning the full prize was less then the chance of being killed while eating peanut butter.

morphius 04-21-2002 10:50 PM

Yes, Jacob I wont be judging you but you said I was highly rude so I went back and said your manners are worse, this is a fair statement because you said it when you are just as bad and what about observing?
