That is pretty much the same shape as Ruptire Farms' facade...
I always picture the original RF so that hadn't even crossed my mind, even tho I was already looking for instances of that logo elsewhere.
Good eye!

Connell 06-29-2016 07:01 AM

Yeah, now it's mentioned it is pretty much the same shape as that Rupture Farms. Pretty cool and it makes sense. As for the other clues, I'm not sure the highlights on the logo mean anything in particular, other than looking all glitchy and cool. You never know though, everything in this ARG seems to be relevant. ;)

seniormeatbox 06-29-2016 07:05 AM

They should just rename this to
Watch_sl0gs
seems to fit

Ugh, same here, even though I like the new design, the old one is rooted in my mind. It seems so obvious now that someone pointed it out.

I think it's pretty cool to have a distorted picture of RF as symbol of the SO1029 movement.

Let's get the word out guys. The more people, the more awesome behind the scenes stuff we'll get? Let's hope it works like that ;)

Damn you're fast

Guineapiglet 06-29-2016 10:08 AM

Sounds like another one of those tasks to gather likes and shares?

DreadfulDrummer 06-29-2016 10:19 AM

Is there any way to DM Oddworld's entire Twitter follower-base and strike up as much knowledge and interest of the ARG?

As it stands, I'd say everyone participating would fit in a restaurant and that ain't enough, boy howdy!

Connell 06-29-2016 10:26 AM

OWI tweeting a link to the 1029.io site is probably the most vocal they've been about the ARG so far, which is nice. It would be great to have more people in the know, considering the amount of time and planning OWI have put into it so far. I suppose part of the whole atmosphere was it being sort of secretive, but hopefully if people go sleuthing they might find us.

It's also kinda strange to see them openly acknowledging the ARG's existence, but cool at the same time :p

Just checking in.
Hm, so it looks like more Ed wants followers, retweets; spread the hype?

Also, organise what I wonder?

Soulstorm Brew Resistance? Rebellion? If we have Ed, surely that implies Abe's not alone in the world against the brew?

Wow I have missed a lot.. Anyways I was just messing around with the new arg info and I wanted to see if something happened if you put 8291 and Ed together in the 1029.io page and what I got was 1029.io/8291/ed and I got a page that has the text from the normal 1029 page but every E and D are capitalised. Now I don't know if this is just my phone messing up or if it's really a page but I thought I'd say something about it

It's not your phone that's messing up. It seems like this site appears whenever you type:
http://1029.io/8291/anything
or
http://1029.io/anything

On the page text, the letters E T N O are sometimes highlighted – reload the page a number of times and you will eventually see it:

http://i.imgur.com/j6WnatF.png

EDIT:

HIDDEN, ERASED, and LOST are also sometimes highlighted:

http://i.imgur.com/nBEr75J.png

Different sections of the ASCII logo are also highlighted when you reload multiple times. I’m not sure if there’s a correlation, let me check. EDIT2: No noticeable correlation between the logo highlights and the text highlights.

Yes, it definitely seems E N T O are important could it be an an anagram?
TONE?
NOTE?
A clue that we are to take "note" to the words and sections of the logo highlighted, parhaps?

They wouldnt highlight words on the page for nothing right? Just need to figure out a pattern, not sure what it is or if it just needs to be reloaded __ number of times

Edit: or maybe we won't see any real clues until__ number of likes and/or follows on the Twitter account but will keep checking :)

I was running with this idea to maybe try and find a tone in the 8291.mp3 video - perhaps one that has been hidden, erased or lost - and find its note but I'm in Lapland, away from my computer now.
Maybe someone else could have more luck.

For example, 82.91 Hz sounds like
http://onlinetonegenerator.com?freq=82.91
and 8291 Hz would be
http://onlinetonegenerator.com?freq=8291

If we found a tone, got the note, got the frequency of the note, maybe we'd have another set of numbers or an alphanumeric code.
Maybe it's elsewhere than the video.

These are some of my thoughts.

Ive seen examples of this in other ARGS (Like the valve ones), and there might be something in the waveform of it. There's probably a code hidden in it, if you can manage to visualize the sound of it somehow.

DreadfulDrummer 07-03-2016 06:13 PM

Man, there was a Valve one? Sheeeeit; wish I'd known of that.

There was also a red herring one back during the last Steam Winter Sale.
I actually have the badge you get from doing a certain string of events during the sale, but I don't remember what it was.
You can't do it any more, either.

racx_00 07-05-2016 09:10 AM

Well, I'm happy to help with sharing and liking for all the good it will do. I doubt I'll be any good with deciphering clues though.

burgrr 07-05-2016 10:27 PM

I never found out, (though it's probably answered somewhere), what's in Ed's twitter icon?

Xavier 07-06-2016 02:50 AM

No clue, I'm not sure anywone found anything interesting in that picture.

Just want to point out that the E T N O characters are all present in the highlighted "HE has lit a firE in our hEarts" sentence.

I tried to Erase them and Join the remaining bits and I come up with:

Hhasliafiriurhars

Which looks ridiculous and doesn't realy help us. :p

I remember saying I thought it was Abe's Moon, because you can see part of a curve that would form a circle in the bottom left if you look closely. Perhaps it's the Spirit of 1029 logo though. Either way there hasn't actually been a definitive answer, as of yet. Could just be jumbled static.

burgrr 07-06-2016 07:15 AM

I feel like 1029.io is glitching more. I've been noticing more glitches, more vigorously, and the 'WE WERE TAUGHT THAT THIS IS ALL THERE WAS:' now cycles between 'work', 'obey', and 'comply' constantly, changing about once per second.
Though I might just be finding stuff that existed there already.
I took a look through the page code just in case, and nothing has changed there that I can see myself. That little code still there, and Abe's still being philosophical.

Connell 07-06-2016 09:11 AM

I have just posted this in another thread discussing a few recent interviews with Lorne Lanning, but I thought it was worth posting here to make sure that those interested in the ARG see it. Here's my post from the thread:

:

()
. Lorne speaks very briefly about how a major element of his original plan for Exoddus was this "flammable brew". He stops himself very quickly, but says it was meant to be an "active" and integral part of the evolution of gameplay that would form part of how the game works. It was cut due to those time restraints that everyone knows about. Has this flammable brew ever been mentioned before? Sounds interesting!

I've only just realised about how this directly relates the "FL4MMBL3" clue that led us to the 1029.io. I thought it was quite interesting, and probably confirms that this flammable brew will play a big part in Soulstorm, and potentially the rest of the ARG. Perhaps that's what Abe is seeing in his eye reflections in the face picture we were studying? This flammable brew being set off. I feel like things are beginning to click into place in my head.

I feel like flammable brew DID make it into the game, partially.
In the form of explosive farts. :p

So do we think the point of the ARG was to find this website, or do we think this is just another phase of it? I'm thinking this is possibly the end, because it's given us new information about the game.

There's still things like the 'note' or 'tone', which we haven't figured out yet.
Maybe it's the note of the noises a Glukkon makes when it's walking? Who knows.

Finally found the time to update the wiki:

http://oddworld.wikia.com/wiki/Souls...Using_the_Code

x3Julle 07-13-2016 12:44 AM

Hey everybody. Yesterday I read the whole thread of the SoulStorm ARG. You guys did a really good job! Great teamwork! It was very entertaining to read everything.
Now I also want to try to help you guys.

When you look at the source code of the 1029.io page and scroll down to line 167 theres a huge space to the following code. Marking the whole thing from line 167 to line 366 you'll see that there are some spaces in a few rows.
181, 212, 243, 274 and 305. Then the pattern by 31 lines stops and theres nothing til line 366.

I saw something similar in this post

I hope it is something that might help you...

Connell 07-13-2016 03:26 AM

Welcome to the hunt. :) The space is interesting, at the minute we're not entirely sure if there's anything we're meant to be looking for, but it's good to document everything.

Also, I believe this maybe a new addition to the source code, but it's sort of nestled within a few lines it's possible I've missed it. Down by the mailing list sign-up, hidden in the source code is the message:

< !-- real people should not fill this in and expect good things - do not remove this or risk form bot signups-- >

Not entirely sure what to make of it. Might be new considering the 1029 Twitter tweeted this morning. Perhaps it's an indicator we'll be recieving mail soon? I've been signed up to that mailing list since the Soulstorm site was first announced and I don't think I've ever got an e-mail from it. Also I think they've added a box where you have to confirm your age, but that's not really ARG related at all :p

EDIT: I just tried to sign up again and it keeps saying "please enter a value" underneath the part where you put your email address in. This is different to the error "This field is required" when you simply don't write anything in the email address box. Is that happening to anyone else? Again probably not ARG related.

seniormeatbox 07-13-2016 05:48 AM

More stuff from the spirit of 1029 twitter.

This is most likely a honeypot to catch spambots signing up to the mailing list – pretty common practice, so unlikely to be significant.

Gotcha. I've never seen anything like that, but I suppose I've barely ever been on the source of any other page aside from this ARG. Does show you how much I want there to be another clue, but it appears the ARG is either done / lying dormant until another announcement.

1029.io has too many weird stuff going on that we still need to figure out. I don't think the ARG is done but rather we reached end of a phase.

Also, I refuse to believe the ARG is done until we know what 8291 stands for. :p

It happened to me too. It's not a honeypot. It's either poorly coded Javascript stopping people from legitimately signing up for the mailing list, or it's a poorly thought out part of the ARG.

rzil 07-15-2016 10:40 AM

maybe we should find some special email adress to fill in?
