We're all polluting the earth by existing. Lorne is a hypocrite just by living.

I feel like we can't get more nihilistic than that, do I win?

Seriously, if it's a real limited edition then buying it might be a good investment (it will take value in a couple of years).

It probably is one of the only true "limited editions" in recent years. Companies these days tend to just slap that phrase on a box when it's actually produced en mass. 5000 copies is limited and it will most likely hold it's value. It all depends if there will be people round who want it.

Some argue that digital distribution has destroyed the potential for games of this generation every growing in rarity / desire akin to the PS1 / Nintendo golden age, but that's a whole other debate.

If there was ever a PS4 release I'd say would be worth something in years to come, It'd be this. But this baby's a keeper for me. And I think anyone who buys video games SOLELY with the hope that they become valuable over time is quite silly. You'd be much better off investing your money in stocks or something real, than on a whim a video game might be desirable.

Yes, but those people exist, you know.

I know that too well. Scalpers are the bane of video games. Hopefully none of them got N'n'T.

EDIT: So this is going down on the UK Ebay... There are still copies on the Limited Run Website for god's sake. Fake bids to create artificial demand?

Same guy is flipping the Vita one here:

Is that really an efficient way to make a small profit? (The answer is no)

EDIT 2: Several on the US eBay, too many to link to in fact. Very sad times, these people see the opportunity I guess. I personally don't think it's worth it.

Bagged myself a copy, Just because I have an extensive Oddworld collection, and this will add nicely to the shrine

Crashpunk 04-26-2016 06:20 AM

People buying up limited editions just to sell at a profit is nothing new. In fact it's one of the main appeals for a lot of people.

I personally just like to know something I own is worth a lot, yet never actually selling it. :)

Scrabaniac 04-26-2016 12:34 PM

That I do too. I will never sell any of my oddworld collection, not even my sealed Exoddus CD

Somewhere far far away, Cullen Heath is crying.

Kind of disgusting seeing all those copies on eBay.

Happy to have snatched one for each platform during the first sale batch. :)

Or did I?

I'm confused!

Somewhere far far away, Cullen Heath is crying.

HAHAHA, that reminds me. Oh man! Not long after I started at JAW, Cullen Heath messaged me on Facebook to say he was looking to unload that massive Abe and Munch statue from a past E3 because it was clogging up his grandparents' house. I can't find a photo to jog your memory. It's not the most elegant object in the world, but it's a bit of Oddworld history that we thought would be cool to have in the JAW office.

He promised to get it sent to us on the condition that he got a Facebook message from Lorne. Eh, sure. Lorne's a busy guy, but eventually I convinced him to spare a minute and send a message Cullen's way. And then we never heard from Cullen again. The end.

Crashpunk 04-27-2016 05:47 AM

I just had to search for him because I had absolutely no idea who Cullen Heath was.

I can't believe I never heard about that.

Xavier 04-27-2016 05:51 AM

Did Lorne mention he was a friend of Mathew Bell in the message? That might explain it.

The idea of Lorne and OANST being friends fills me with warm fuzzy feelings before my sides split with laughter.

I'm getting my game! So excited *.* Never sell it though way too nostalgic I remember first playing the original when I was 8. Don't mind me -u-
