If timezones are a problem maybe we could just play a boardgame or something?

I'd be up for that. anything, man. maybe a proper D&D game is a little too ambitious considering the collective situation we're in. we could give it a go later at some point but i reckon we should first sharpen our 'grouping together to play something' skills by playing something a little simpler and seeing how everything goes. timezones, mic's, webcam's etc might be a little too much for a first-time go at playing a game together.

unless we want to. whatever man i just want to play something with you freaks

LET'S PLAY LUDO

Manco 05-02-2015 01:11 PM

Y’know it strikes me that everyone’s flip-flopping around wondering if this will pan out, but no one is actually trying to organize anything.

Here, I’ll throw out a date for you all: May 16. It’s a Saturday, so most of y’all probably will be free. If that doesn’t suit then I’m sure you can suggest a more convenient date.

Now pick a time and decide if you wanna play D&D or another game.

MA 05-02-2015 02:47 PM

yeah, man. Manco's knocking us into gear now, bitches. I'll totally be up for any game, i'm not bothered what it is. i have a mic that i can set up if need be but no web cam unfortunately. May 16th is fine by me, just let me know the place and time (and what equipment will be needed) and i'll be there.

lookin forward to this shindig.

MeechMunchie 05-02-2015 04:33 PM

I remember ages ago a friend showed me some online Cards Against Humanity app, but I can't remember which one it was. There are a few, mostly bad.

Mr. Bungle 05-02-2015 10:44 PM

Praise be to Mabelco.

I think we could jump right into a DND game, though it might take some time to cook up a decent campaign. Also, a decent campaign on Roll20 costs money to create, and I don't think anyone wants to invest anything other than their time into this. Might have to get creative here.

May 16th should be just fine for me, though. What time's best for all you guys? Think I'm the only one not living in the UK, so whatever time works best for you guys is cool with me. I'm willing to fuck my sleeping pattern up for some nerdy OWF shenanigans.

Next order of business, then: who's doing what? And by what I mean Dungeon Mastering. I hereby nominate BM as DM, because he seems to have the most experience with all this stuff, and his mind should cook up one hell of a campaign.

Idea: Oddworld-based campaign? Sounds like it could either be really fun, or just plain lame and stupid. Probably the latter, but I just had to get throw the idea out there, considering what site we're on.

Or we could just say fuck it all and play Risk.

Manco 05-03-2015 06:02 AM

I think it would be a good idea for you all to try a short vanilla D&D scenario before jumping into a full campaign. That way everyone gets a good feel for how the game plays and can decide if they rolled the right character for them before having to commit, plus it wouldn’t take so much time for the DM to set up.

Mr. Bungle 05-07-2015 04:50 PM

That's a good idea. Hell, if no else is willing to, I'll take the DM reins. Sure we could get by decently enough with what roll20 offers to cheap/poor folk like me. Free stuff.

And if not... imagination, or something.

MeechMunchie 05-07-2015 05:36 PM

How about we just pretend to play D&D

Mr. Bungle 05-07-2015 05:55 PM

We can do it right here, in this thread!

Hi my name is Bungle and I'm a Bungle from the region of Bungle. I come from a land ravaged by war and poverty because I killed everyone and took all their money.

Bungled

...

No good?

Manco 05-07-2015 05:59 PM

I put on my robe and wizard hat.

Mr. Bungle 05-07-2015 06:02 PM

I steal them

*rolls to steal*

*critically fail at stealing and end up giving you my Grifter's Bowtie of Bungling +1*

Aha

Manco 05-07-2015 06:06 PM

Boy, you sure bungled that roll!

*+1 to laugh track*

Bullet Magnet 05-07-2015 06:39 PM

A power-gaming munchin has entered the game.

I use my Staff of the Rose to summon an administrator to kick all yo' butts.

Manco 05-09-2015 10:46 AM

Job McYossie 05-09-2015 01:13 PM

Seriously how do you miss this

Varrok 05-09-2015 01:23 PM

I don't miss it.

Manco (the sarky cunt) is actually right, i said subforum meaning a forum attatched to another forum. what we actually have is just an RPG forum, not a subforum. plus it's Oddworld-only which i forgot about, so i done fucked up.

in other words Manco wins again. god damn you, Manco! i'll get you some day!

and stop having so much fucking rep

not fair

Holy Sock 05-09-2015 02:40 PM

Is D&D fun? Never played it.

I was just joking because no one ever goes to the RPG forum, but I’m making this my reasoning because it’s cleverer.

Thanks for making me look smart, I win again!!!

MA 05-09-2015 03:31 PM

i fucking quit

fuck your dungeons and dragons

MeechMunchie 05-09-2015 04:09 PM

You need to do a Quit roll first.

Phylum 05-10-2015 12:35 AM

The roll critically fails - MA will end up responding to this post.

someone pass the nachos, it's gonna be a loooooooooooooooooong night.

also this

but yeah we should probably arrange something

Manco 05-10-2015 10:11 AM

If anything is going to be arranged then we need to know who’s definitely gonna take part, and we also need confirmation of who will be in charge. Most of the people who said they’d like to give it a shot are newbies so someone who’s played before and knows how to DM and explain the game needs to step up to take charge.

And then a date needs to be picked, and then we need to work out how to play – Skype, Roll20, some other channel?

MA 05-10-2015 10:42 AM

well i'll definitely be playing, so count me in. i don't want to be in charge though, if that can be helped.

so who's going to be in charge? the big dawg. the Game Master.

MeechMunchie 05-10-2015 02:03 PM

I'm in, and though I might try DM'ing at some point, I'd rather leave it to someone else for now.

MA 05-16-2015 09:33 AM

well May 16th is here and we're still no closer to actually starting a game.

WHO'S GONNA BE GAMEMASTER? i'm not letting this one drop. we'll play a game if it's the last thing we do.

Manco 05-16-2015 05:19 PM

I have literally never played DnD before and have none of the tools needed to DM.

Mr. Bungle 05-17-2015 06:44 AM

I'll DM, then. I can get a few pointers from friends. Give me a week or two to try and cook up a campaign and figure out just how exactly we're gonna make this work.

Bullet Magnet 05-17-2015 09:03 AM

I would, but I'd need to get to know the system we're playing with first.

I have all sorts of campaign ideas, and all are stupidly complex for a first time DM. Plus, several of the scenarios involved movable, drivable, three-dimensional terrain build in RL, which would be difficult on-line. That was one of my simpler ideas.

MA 05-17-2015 09:27 AM

well i'll be lurking for a while so just post in this thread if you get something together.

I think most people would want to try basic D&D before diving into any other systems. Also remember you’d be babysitting a whole buncha newbies, so crazy ideas are out.

Bullet Magnet 05-17-2015 03:17 PM

There is no such thing as "basic" DnD. There are different editions with different rules, which is what I meant by "system". I need to know which edition, DnD or otherwise, before I can learn the rules. First and Advanced are probably out, but 3.5 is still popular. I'm familiar with Fourth, which is believed by most gamers to be shit, and fifth (aka "DnD Next") is either just out or in public beta, and I'm unfamiliar with that yet (and there are no interesting expansions). There's also the ever-popular Pathfinder, which is a different brand name but developed which permission directly from DnD 3.5, and has a shit-tonne of easily accessible character, race, creature, equipment etc expansions. I know the character creation and advancement for pathfinder, but not yet how gameplay really functions.

The reason I say I'd have to get a look at the system first is that it's fine to have players who are learning while they play, but truly shit to have a DM who's doing the same. You don't want to forget or misinterpret a rule and make your encounters too easy or impossible, or misunderstand the level system and mismatch the monsters. The first sessions are usually practice anyway, using pre-made campaigns. New players will appreciate the opportunity to change or replace their characters if they don't play as expected.

Shrykull43 05-19-2015 03:58 PM

Well I've never played DnD and i know im kinda new to the forums but I would like to play if there is something going down
