Kinda does seem a bit silly not to release it the same time as the PS3. Surely that's just the same game only scaled down a tiny bit?

I got a PS4 just because of New 'N' Tasty. Anything else released on the system is a bonus :P

@Connell - Thing about Munch and Stranger is that they weren't planned for a later release on most other main platforms (at the time of their release). This time we have the choice to wait a bit longer.

I have to wonder... when development of Abe HD started the PS4 wasn't even out yet and the game was still planned for release on Xbox and PS3 but NOT PS4. Now almost a year later the PS4 has not only been added to the list but has been promoted to the flagship and exclusive release platform and we're being told that the PS3 release might even be released later.

I'm sorry but I'm calling bullshit on this. This is obviously part of a publishing deal with Sony which may or may not involve a big bag of money. I can't blame JAW as a small studio to accept a big bag of money and free promotion for their current flagship game. But the irony in combination with Lorne's praise of being an independent developer is staggering.

He was so proud of not being some big publisher's bitch and here they are again, so far up Sony's ass that daylight no longer reaches them. :happy:

Ugh, thought those release dates were for the ps3, oh well. But it's a release date regardless, so I won't complain. It'd be quite a gift if the ps3 version were on the 24th! :p Hoping it won't be too far behind the ps4 dates.

You're an idiot, Havoc. Devs always prioritise the newest, shiniest system over the previous generation. The PS4 has been out for ages, not to mention the fact that Sony would have given them access to devkits quite some time before release. More than enough time for them to shift the primary development platform to the PS4

OWI and JAW have been focusing all their effort on the Playstation for months now, every piece of promotional material is plastered with Playstation branding. The PC titles are still buggy as hell and the HD update for MO has been postponed until christmas 2070 while the Playstation already got it months ago.

And what about the Wii U version? You'd at least expect all console versions to come out at the same time. But somewhere down the line apparently someone made the call to release the PS4 version regardless of the other console versions being ready. Jaw would be the only developer I know that releases on a single platform without some sort of agreement with that platform. It would make absolutely no sense otherwise.

And you know, I get it that when Sony offers you lots of free promotion and maybe some funding you jump right on that as a small time developer. But at least be honest about it. Even a blind person can see what is going on here.

Just on a side note in between your arguments, any one know where/when we will see the gameplay videos? Last year the stream went onto the floor and some people got covered through the whole event. Gametrailers? IGN? Youtube?

JAW/OWI have a temporary exclusive agreement to release the game first on Sony consoles. Not just the PS4; the PS3 and Vita as well. They've been fully upfront about that.

You were saying in your post that the PS3 release had been delayed because of bribery; I was saying that it just makes good fucking sense.

Havoc, you do realise that, with a small company like JAW, they will release whichever version is finished first?

So they have the 30 day Sony exclusivity - They've basically finished the PS4 version and are going to get it out as soon as possible. They are now finishing up PS3 & Vita and are trying to meet the PS4 release date - but no guarantees.

THEN, most likely, they will finalise the PC, Mac & Linux versions and release them at the end of those 30 days. Then they'll finish off the Wii U version - probably since it has the smallest potential gamer base.

Indies want to get their game out as soon as possible and JAW are in no way the first developer to release their games, on platforms, as they go along rather than wait a few extra months to release them all at the same time.

Whether it's because they're sucking Sony's dick or not, I'm still pretty gutted about the fact they've said it's only PS4 on that day. I wish they'd clarified they were only giving out the PS4 release date so I didn't get all excited, just to be told I have to wait again. Real nice.

But at least you guys know that it will come for everyone eventually.

Think about it: It has an actual release date, no more "When it's done!" or vague "Coming soon!" bullcrap. And then after you've finally got it and played it, it won't matter any more.

They clarified that they're working hard to release it on PS3/Vita on the same day. But they announced the PS4 version because it's the only solid release date they can promise at this time.

I saw this, thank you for repeating it. My problem is we were told we were getting the release date, something we've all been waiting for. Naturally I assumed they'd announce all platforms. Now it's just another big maybe for the majority of players. Happy to wait longer if it comes to it, just feel a bit cheated as PS3 players still have nothing solid.

This is most likely the reason, though. Because they promised a release date before E3. So they'll give us the only release date they can guarantee. If they hadn't said anything at all I'm sure there'd be a much bigger stink. "Sorry, we can't give you an exact release date it turns out - gonna have to wait a few more weeks!".

And man, if they are aiming for the same date surely a week or two delay is not something to get agitated over.

I am by no means agitated. As I said before, I am happy to wait. My problem stems from STILL not knowing when exactly I'm waiting for. I am glad they're aiming for a same day release though. I think you have misinterpreted my problem as being that I am impatient and want it right now. My problem is I thought I'd have a fixed date to look forward to now, but it is still fairly up in the air. Happy waiting a bit longer after all this time.

Yeah I have to agree, it’s nice knowing that hey, one version of the game is definitely coming on 22nd/23rd July, but that’s not the version I’m buying and I still have no idea when that’ll be other than a ballpark guess.
