I'd never noticed before, but there an uncomfortably excessive amount of space between the "MUNCHIE" and the "S" on that poster.

That post on ow.com was a bit short on information. Were they just coming up with new posters for the in-game cinematics, or are these actually going to be printed?

I think they said this thing is not related to the actual game production. So probably not ingame cinematics

I assumed that meant that they weren't announcing a new game, but that it could relate to a previously announced one.

I think it's for in-game cinematic but it would be fantastic if they had them printed. I would love the Rupture Farms ads in my room :)

They specifically mention that they had commissioned Johnny Eveson to produce the posters, and Eveson is the same guy who made and sold prints of those fancy art deco Oddworld posters we all loved a while back. He sells prints of his poster designs, so it’s actually a safe bet that we might see prints of these.

Sweet. Now I can finally cover my walls with Oddworld posters. It's like a dream come true.

I might be the only person on these forums that didn't like his posters, which is strange because I really like Art Deco. I don't really like the new New n' Tasty logo either. Not that I could do better.

I'm looking forward to seeing some more posters, I don't know why though, but there's something about that one specifically which seems...not entirely professional. I'm not sure why though, might be something to do with the writing.

I was kind of disappointed as well when I saw the new poster... but on the the other hand the original one was dull as well. I'm waiting for an other poster before final judgement.

Want I want to know is, how will those aspects be incorporated into the new title? You know they will.

Frankly, I kinda like the new poster. But it looks a little Y-axis stretched, but it might be just me.

I like the bubble letters on the old one more. The shadow masking I can take or leave, but it does look more professional to have the shadow overlay pinned to the point of perspective as opposed to just off to one side.

I was talking to the guy who made them on the subject of official posters (on deviantart) and he said that he has some oddworld posters, one of which he mentioned to be on the oddworld blog, so these are probably physical real life posters.

Well, he's made several oddworld posters that JAW has prints of in their office.

Assuming this poster is going to appear in-game, it seems odd that Rupturefarms would spend money making a polished poster to promote a product they hadn't announced yet and that didn't even contain the actual product name.

By which I mean to say that whilst the new poster is pretty, I prefer the older, plainer one.

That's what we were talking about. I asked him if they were official because I saw them in pictures of JAW offices. He said they were fan art, but he gave them as a present when he visited JAW. But then he said he was working on an official oddworld poster that he said was on the blog. The way he said it made it sound like it was not exclusively in-game. And then I complimented him on his work.

Fun Fact: Jonny visited the old OWI studios in San Luis Obispo back in 2003 and is a fellow former Fan of the Month.

Apparently the marketing department thought it was worthwhile. The have a budget and this is how they chose to spend it. Chances are if they didn't spend it all each quarter they'd get a smaller budget after review.

On the other side I've seen plenty of nice commercials IRL teasing for products without the actual product being displayed in it or it being even revealed yet. So this behaviour does not surprise me at all in a fictional universe. :p
