e: although to be fair I have no idea what Quake’s campaign is like. |

|
:
EDIT: Well, shit. Basically what WOF said. |
I remember Quake 3 as a wonderful game to play multiplayer, the campaign was not memorable in the slightest but then, I may be seeing things through nostalgia glasses.
Haven't played Halo 4 yet. I am a little bit cautious simply because I thought Halo 3 was supposed to conclude the series and Bungie aren't developing. The first posts have restored a little of my confidence in it however. |

All the reviews I’ve read also say either they get Halo better than Bungie or are at least competent enough to make a game as well as Bungie.
So, either way that’s reassuring. e: What the hell are Bungie doing with themselves nowadays anyway? |
From the looks of it they are developing for tablets and smartphones now.

What happened was Microsoft wanted to keep Halo going, and a part of Bungie wanted to stay with the project and the rest were over it. So the ones who were done with the whole thing are Bungie, and the ones who continue to make Halo for Microsoft are 343.
Also, a bunch of staff from Retro Studios (Metroid Prime) helped out with Halo 4, which explains a few stylistic and level design elements. |

Knowing that Retro Studios helped with Halo 4 makes me wanna play it even more. Metroid Prime is amazing.

Didn't Giger help with level design on H4? I remember hearing that somewhere, where I heard it I forget though.

On Halo 4... The game is alright. There are alot of design choices that ruin the game for me, such as the new alien appearances and MC's armor and a few others. There are also some sound issues during cut scenes which are killing the mood as well. Game play is pretty much the same as it has always been, not that i was expecting a whole lot of new features. Haven't tried multiplayer yet. I'll give that a go after i beat the campaign. |
My main problem is with how rapidly weapons disappear when you drop them.
|
The map Complex is bugged to shit.
People are glitching into walls and hiding there, frustrating as hell during Flood games. |

I loved Halo 4, probably not as much as 3, but it's still much better than Reach. Campaign wise: Halo 3>Halo ODST>Halo 4>Halo 1>Halo 2>Call of Duty 4>>>>>>Halo:Reach Multiplayer: Halo 3>Halo 2>Halo 4>Halo 1>That Minecraft Halo clone on Xbox Indies>Reach As you can see, Reach is terrible. |
Reach was pretty sucky. The campaign wasn't that replayable, the multiplayer didn't capture me like Halo 2/3 did and Firefight wasn't as near enough entertaining as it was in ODST.
I've put my Halo 4 Legendary run on hold, as Promethean Knights and their little faggot Watchers rape the shit out of me. What happened to the good old days when a good old stick or a supercombine saved the day? |
ODST would have been awesome if they would have put matchmaking in it. Firefight was awesome, but i rarely found people to play it with. The campaign was kind of cool. It wasn't spectacular, but i admire Bungie for trying something new it least.
Reach... I didn't think it was that bad. I have my complaints, but i didn't think it was that bad. Plus I actually liked the campaign, story line wise at least. Campaign for me would be: Halo 1>Halo2> Halo 3(Maybe)> ODST> Reach (Haven't beaten Halo 4 to decide where is ranks yet) I loved the original game and to me it's the best in the series. I was so happy when they released Halo CE: anniversary.(With crappy old graphics included) I Hope they do the same with Halo 2 in the future. |
:
I'm for Halo 2 being HD'd, loved that game. |
I thought it was the weakest in the series. The difficult middle child.
Still liked it, though. |
Which one?
|
Two.

I don't know why I like Halo 2 so much probably because I remember looking foward to it and it doesn't make sense to me that its just been forgotten. I haven't played it in forever but I remember enjoying it quite a bit back then probably mostly due to the fact it was my first online game but IDK I still think some of those maps are kickass such as: Waterworks, Gemini, and Turf. The latter two especially are still very unique and cool. I like when multiplayer maps incorporate aspects of the lore, it made the game feel special and less like another arena shooter.
Has anyone else had a problem with picking up ordnances in Halo 4 multiplayer? I'm having that problem a lot and now I worry about it every time I request something, like it's going to get stuck in the ground :P But yeah Halo 4 has the buggiest multiplayer in franchise history but it's still a lot more fun than Reach and I absolutely LOVE the way the Spartan IV's look especially the model that you see right after a match. Everything from the colors to the weapon aesthetics are just soooo much easier on the eyes than they were in Reach. |
I haven't had that trouble. You have to fill a progress bar if you want to steal ordnance, though. A problem when my friend and I were sharing.
"Ordnance stolen!" "Ordnance gifted!" |
|
Dear god... the insistence on using quotation marks around every single mention of "Halo" and 'Halo 4' in that article are super distracting. Especially because they couldn't seem to decide whether to use double or single quotes.
|
It wouldn't have been as bad if they hadn't used the word three or four times per paragraph.
|
I love that XBL ten-year anniversary logo but I hated that ten year timeline on XBL. It relugates: Mechassault, Crimsons Skies, and Halo 2 to mere footnotes that aren't available on XBLA. I'm sure they're going to remake Halo 2 but we want the other two franchises back...they were XBL pioneers.
|
Mechassault and Crimson skies were both amazing multiplayer games, it's sad that they never brought them over to 360. Everyone played those games when I was in middle school, it was great fun.
I still have Mechassault. Might play it later. |
I hate that they have added SWAT to the playlist. You can't even walk two footsteps without being killed.
I love Capture the Flag on Ragnarok, though. It's like 3 all over again + gay ass Mantis. Seriously, I fucking hate the Mantis. |
:
The live action intro just looked cheesy. Any game that puts live action cinematic scenes into it looks cheesy. Say what you want about Reach. It least it kept a lot of familiarity to its design. To me it felt like there was a lot more customization as well. |
Lore wise, I hate the Spartan IVs. May I make a comparison? Here are the Spartans doing extremely dangerous missions.
Spartan IIs: Get the job done with minimal to maximum casualties. At least one comes back. Spartan IIIs: Get the job done. None of them come back. Spartan IVs: SPARTAAANS! FUCK YEAHHH!! WATCH ME STAB THIS ELITE IN THE BACK WITH MY KNIFE, UNSC BOO-YAH! Seriously, fuck the IVs. |
You can see why, though. The Spartan-IIs were kidnapped as children as raised military from then on. The Spartan-IIIs were teenagers orphaned by the covenant who were willing to be augmented for the purposes of dying in a suicide mission. Spartan-IVs were normal soldiers before their augmentation.
You see the technological progress. The augmentation process has grown cheaper and the age at which it can be performed has grown older, which is why there can now be an army of them. They're limited now only by the number of recruits who make the grade and the cost of the GEN2 MJOLNIR, which is still orders of magnitude cheaper than the Mark V. The advances do mean that each generation of Spartan is less capable physically and less well trained, but the numbers and cost-effectiveness more than make up for it. Also, surviving members of previous Spartan programs were invited to join the Spartan-IV program, so a few of them could be IIIs, or even Orions. |
I'm tempted to pick this up to play online. How is the multiplayer in this one? Was great in 3.
|
From what I've read it's pretty different to 3, it seems to take quite a few things from CoD and other casual FPS games in that it uses custom loadouts and the like.
:
Although it's apparently very well balanced, it's also glitchy as fuck. |
Halo 4's story is okay. I was dissappointed with the final boss "fight", if you can even call it that. To be honest, it reminded me of CoD.
Never saw any bit of the multiplayer but I heard you can't go Elite, which is disappointing for me because I play them exclusively. ._. |
As much as I want to say it, i agree completely with Hulaabeo. They could of made a better boss "fight" cause it's hardly a fight. From what Hulaabeo told me, he said that the part when you take the boss down with the grenade was a reminder of CoD Modern Warfare. It is similar, but not exactly the same thing. CoD MW: 1 armed man and his body guards take you and your forces down. Only you and 1 other guy are alive. The 3 enemies are distracted and you get a gun and shoot all 3 of them down. HALO 4: Guy with God-like powers lifts over over the side of a bridge and kortana holds him down. As you almost fall off the bridge, you climb back up and you stick a grenade on him causing him to fall off the bridge.
I also have to say that multiplayer is like CoD cause i heard it has ranks and you have to buy your guns. |
