I would snap up the yellow Mudokon Smiley beanie hat in seconds. Honestly I want one right now.. anyone know of any websites that you can create custom beanies on?
|
I'm sure if you did a quick search on Google, you'll find something.
It's better to wait to see if they release any official merchandise. Though, I wouldn't keep my fingers crossed. If they do come out with mudokon face beanies, then buying that will allow OWI to profit off of it, and that money can go to their future projects. And then there's always the option of trying to craft it by hand. |
I work in an embroidery store actually, was thinking of doing something Oddworld-related for myself. Those Mud smilies were definitely an idea...

Brew!
I remember there being SoulStorm Brew bottled beer just like the games! It was merchandise around the time Abe's Exoddus was released, sadly I was under aged then and my parents would not buy it for me BUT NOW I have my own moolah and I am of a responsible age!
|
Don't worry, it was only bottled water handed out at expos.

What's so special about Chris' water?

Well I don't mean I stare intensely at them whilst they are drinking. I mean I looked every so often to see if they notice the SoulStrom Logo.
|
A little posable Scrab figure is all I'd like, around the same size as the sentry turret figure from Portal 2.

I think clothing is a very good route to take for Oddworld merchandise. It tends to have very flexible design prospects. And be cheap. Just gotta be careful with the way it's being done, it sort of becomes ironic in a terrible way if stuff's being produced in sweatshops by people being paid virtually nothing and all.
For some reason I really think the idea of a stitchlip bandana is fantastic. http://i.imgur.com/GNtvv.png Maybe something like this. Although come to think of it, this might be a better thing for Stranger merchandise... Still! It's an idea. A nice cosy idea considering the northern hemisphere is going towards the winter months now. |

If so, I want three.

Even better.
I'm sure novelty panties with terrible Oddworld pickup lines would sell too. |
Can't think of any Oddworld related pickup lines off the top of my head but just
Oddworld underwear Yes. Not talking about the mud face boxers or any of the other AE merchandise, no. I'm talking about some quality Oddworld underwear here. You'd have your paramite bras and angry mudokon g strings and http://dl.dropbox.com/u/60726531/ser...tunderwear.png Personally though, I'd want something like this. Wear these and get all the bitches, guaranteed. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/60726531/bestunderwear.png |
I can't believe you spent time drawing them, mind you, I spent time on making terrible things just to annoy Crashpunk. I'd tip my hat to you if I was wearing one.
I like the angry Mudokon G string the best. |
Black background full colour graphic tees are hyper ugly and only worn by neck-beards. That can't be good for brand image.
Clothing merchandise is not cool. As well as being ugly, as the focus is on the brand rather than the style, people who wear them turn themselves into walking advertisements (the are also invariably lazy in their dress). I wonder if they have any self respect. Maybe a good, clever graphic designer could pull it off. I don't know. Mud face beanies and stitch-lip bandanna's look kind of cool, though (though without the OWI logo on the latter). Just my 2 pence :):):):):):):):) ect. |
^ hear that, folks. No one with wearable memorabilia has no self respect. Well fuck a duck.
|
I just spent literally 3 minutes in a fit of laughter after seeing that.
|
This looks like it could be a very cool concept if you drop the OWI logo. I wonder how it would look like in real life though. |
I imagine it'd have the full face on it, but could be folded in such a way that it only shows the mouth when worn in the way of a mask.
I mean, I got the idea from existing bandana designs that work in a similar way. I got a side-by-side of someone wearing a design I actually managed to find the unfolded version of (hooray for google). http://i.imgur.com/X1EpP.png I imagine a Mud smiley bandana would be a little plainer than that, mind. And I keep looking back and agreeing with you guys more and more that the OWI logo doesn't look right on that sketch I did. Definitely would be better as a plainer design. |

You know, some companies pay top dollar to tattoo their brand logos onto you.
|
...the stitchlip bandana is cool! :D
- Oddworld Necklace - an oddworld theme for your cellphone - oddworld brew, scrab cakes and paramite pies! - the live ammo from SW as plushies or something |
A sligface nosebag. Full of snuff.

People still use the word 'cellphone'? |
What the fuck else do you call them

Mobile Phones.

My cup and string hasn't failed me yet. It works a bit better than my dial up connection.

Different names from different dialects. Nothing shocking here. Back on topic.

Technically, now that most of us have smartphones, they should be called 'personal devices'.
Anyway, back on topic, I'd like an Oddworld mug. I own mugs of everything I like, it's strange. |
You should get a mug in the shape of a Mug.
Yeah, I know. I was just surprised you hadn't made that 'joke' yourself. |
I quite like the idea of an oddworld beanie, but those in the image are way too invasive. I think it would be better to have the same sort of graphic more subtly placed on the side or something.
Oddworld has quite a few graphics that would work well just standalone on t-shirts or other apparel. I'd wear a Butt-Flo t-shirt for kicks. Something like this might be cool as well, based on Meet the Scout from TF2: http://store.valvesoftware.com/product.php?i=C01400 but with "Hello, Hello, Follow me, Okay." Things that, if people who see it know, they'll know; and if they don't, it doesn't scream it at them. That's why I really like the Sekto Springs shirt. That said, in another clothing thread from a while back someone mentioned a 'Three Scrab Abe Moon' shirt. I'd go for that. EDIT: Oh, Valve already did it. http://store.valvesoftware.com/product.php?i=CP201 |
