Oh look, you can use YouTube doubler to play them side by side.
As I said, they don't sync though - I was using the music as queues to change scenes and manually counted the duration of scenes in the original video. Some sync up, most don't. Yay for lacking software. :S |
Meech, thanks for mentioning Minerva; just finished it. Had a lot of fun. :D
They did it! Black Mesa has been Greenlit on Steam in less than a week!
But it was about 50% a while ago... did they lower the requirements?
Guess Valve are still testing out the Greenlight process considering it was only 48% yesterday evening... But that's really good news. :)
EDIT: It's among the first 10 games to be accepted on Steam via Greenlight. Valve has decided that there were enough interest in the top voted games/projects to let them on early. |
Yes, I think. Yesterday there were none
And it is the remake for the game that put Valve on the map as a company. I think a little favoritisme is in play here ;)
Valve can do whatever they want because what they want has proven over and over to have the interests of the consumer at heart. They may not always get it right, but it's easy to see that they aren't driven by greed.
I'm also happy to see Cry of Fear is on that list, I've been meaning to try that out. :)
Is it? Oh, it really is. Cool, I may finally play that

so is this coming out or not? I'm getting tired of waiiiiiting.
Greenlit games will continue to be Greenlit. There used to be a "pending" tier, presumably so people could frantically downvote games that got cheated to 100%, but that no longer seems to be the case.
Yes, in about 2 days, either on Steam, or if that isn't ready by then, via torrents. Xen isn't finished yet 'cause they're completely redoing it from scratch rather than basing it on existing Half-Life levels, so you'll only be able to play up to Lambda Core.
Also: (Yeah, I know Valve hasn't made BMS. :P) Oh and speaking of Valve, apparently there's a rumour going around the various news sites that EA tried to buy them in the past out for 1 billion dollars. And Gabe said that he'd rather let Valve disintegrate than be sold out by EA. What a guy. :) Seriously though, that'd be the end of good PC gaming if that ever happened. EA just wants to make money, while Valve care about their customer base and listen to their fans. If Gabe ever resigns or dies or something, I hope somebody like-minded takes over from him. |
The remastered Xen is an intriguing idea. I've heard many different opinions on the possible flaws of that part, with the most prominent saying that Xen felt a bit rushed and not as chiselled as the previous bits.
When I first saw Xen, it was very disorientating, with the different geometry and lack of symmetry that ruled in Black Mesa, the changed gravity and the constant need of using long jumps to get around. But after getting past the inital shock, it was alright - after all, it was a different dimension, it was supposed to feel like that. I hope they keep Nihilant though. That part I enjoyed a lot. |

One more reason for me to say that Valve is one of my favourite companies, even when I think some of their games don't classify to my personal top10 list
EDIT: shitpost ignore

I wonder how much is entire EA worth... I think their finances go down a bit every day since some time ago
My back-of-the-envelope calculations using information from Wikipedia and their current share price suggests it's on the order of 4.6 billion.
And going down quickly :D
I hope so. I think it should be worth about 4 bilion less
But so many years!!! It must be one massive crowbar!
Remember that one from HL2? Was there any moment when it just broke? And you hit maaaaaaaaaaaaaany different things with it. Now, do you remember HL2 production time? I can clearly see a connection
:
It would be a pretty neat HL3 Collector's Edition gift, receiving a crowbar made by Gabe Newell himself. Maybe the game has already been finished, they just need to make the estimated number of crowbars to be packed with the game.
Heads up: It's under an hour until BMS is released, for those looking forward to playing this as much as I am. (Well, I have been waiting nearly 8 years...) Keep an eye on their site:
http://www.blackmesasource.com/ I don't think there'll be a Steam release yet though, apparently it'll have to be torrented if you want to play it immediately after release. |
Fingers crossed my crap pile of a PC can run this!
When a site is overloaded due to heavy traffic, how long does it normally take to...
Longer than you think
I'm currently downloading through Torret Trackers. I don't like to use torrents but right now it's the only fast way to get the mod.
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?...1#post37663480 Currently at 12%! I hope this works :D |
Downloading it too. This should be good :D
A working torrent (official) can now be found here (linked to Facebook to prove it's genuine):
http://www.facebook.com/BlackMesaDev...95876847212424 Be kind and don't forget to seed it when it's done. |
I guess I'll wait for the steam version
Yeah, I think I'll wait, too.
I was going to do that until I decided that I didn't want to wait another few months for something I've already waited 8 years for... :S There isn't a lot of info on the Steam version and it may not even be released until they're done finishing Xen.
it's not a finished version?
