Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Reincarnated!

Phylum 08-03-2012 09:15 PM

I'd prefer if it was just called Oddysee HD officially, with no ingame title like the original.

If you don't like HD just call it Oddysse. It's just more striking than any other title.

Oddworld Begins.

Followed by 'The Odd Knight' and 'The Mudokon Rises'.

JennyGenesis 08-04-2012 01:57 AM

The first oddventure.

That's really the only other thing I can think ofbesides Abe's Oddysee HD.

RoryF 08-04-2012 02:10 AM

I agree that it should be simular, almost unchanged from the original title. Abe's Oddysee HD would be cool but Abe's Oddysee Oddiversary sounds awesome.

Crashpunk 08-04-2012 02:12 AM

Gabe's Oddysee It's going to be worth the weight.

Jordan 08-04-2012 03:02 AM

Is anyone else having a problem submitting ideas? It keeps telling me that it failed to submit my suggestion and I should contact Oddworld through another method.

EDIT: Fix'd

My suggestions were:

Oddworld: Odious Oddysee of Abraham Lure
Oddysee: Rehatched
Abe's Oddysee: Repossession

Michael 08-04-2012 03:40 AM

Just submitted a couple of ideas :)

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee- New 'N' Tasty edition

and

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee- Ground Up!

I was going for the double meaning of 'ground up', as in 'built from the ground up' (said a lot by JAW regarding the game), and also 'via a meat grinder'. I hope that comes across correctly!

I think both the Oddworld name and Abe's Oddysee title should remain because it is the same story and same part of the quintology effectively. All the HD version needs in my opinion is a little subtitle to distinguish it from the original version.

Also, I really like the suggestion of 'Abe's Oddysee- Reprocessed' by AvengingGibbons earlier.

enchilado 08-04-2012 03:44 AM

I do like the idea of dropping the "Abe's".

I do like the idea of dropping the "Abe's".

But the point of the Quintology is that each entry introduces and focuses on the plight and journey of a new character.

Taking Abe’s name out of the title takes away from that somewhat.

Phylum 08-04-2012 04:10 AM

Then pick it up in the next game.

This isn't AO. This is a HD remaster of AO that they want to give a new title. The only sensible way of doing that without it being stupid and confusing is to drop the "Abe's".

Strike Witch 08-04-2012 04:10 AM

Just, Oddysee.

My reasoning is that since this game is supposedly redesigned, not just prettier parts on existing models, so advertising it with the "HD" sticker isn't necessary.

Also no offense, but the "name's ___" makes me think cheap flash game.

Oddysee sounds interesting, it's easy to remember, and it gives the series a bit of a different feel to it.

I guess this depends on how they’re handling the series. If Abe HD is just a one-off remake then I guess it would be okay, but if they plan on restarting the Quintology all over then I would have a problem with changing the naming convention.

Luskan 08-04-2012 05:18 AM

That's the thing, I'm not sure how much they would want to keep the same title wise.

Would a long one be awkward? I was thinking of something similar to the fangus title

Something like "Oddworld: The Rapacious Rise of Molluck the Glukkon"

But that's a pretty hefty title.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee- Ground Up!

I like this.

Phylum 08-04-2012 05:51 AM

But it's too tacky for Oddworld. It would really hurt a dark, moody game to have such a cheap title.

MeechMunchie 08-04-2012 05:54 AM

I think it recalls the crass marketing of the Industrialists.

Manco 08-04-2012 06:05 AM

I wish this game would be a retail title so we could have fun with the box quotes.

“New and improved recipe!”

“200% more pixels!”

“Only a third of our workforce was harmed in the making of this game”

MeechMunchie 08-04-2012 06:17 AM

You could have a "May contain traces of..." list twenty items long.

Manco 08-04-2012 06:29 AM

“Made with real ingredients!”

MeechMunchie 08-04-2012 06:40 AM

"Free box!"

Homer's Oddysee.

That was what the second episode of The Simpsons was called wasn't it?

The one where he's mistaken for bigfoot? I think so

pupbenny 08-04-2012 06:50 AM

No, I thought it was the one where he starts standing up for the community or something.... Hang on I'll check....

*Some minutes later.*

Yeah, I was right but I think that you was right about the second episode being that one you said. Because I was mistaken and Homer's Oddysee was actually the 3rd episode.

Scrabaniac 08-04-2012 06:56 AM

Would have been cooler if it was about homers father instead, that would make an epic reference

The Retelling of Abe's Oddysee

I'd say mine but someone might steal 'em....

Tired Glutton 08-04-2012 07:03 AM

You could uh, send 'em in first then post them

pupbenny 08-04-2012 07:06 AM

I sent 'em yesterday.

How did you fix it?

pupbenny 08-04-2012 07:21 AM

Wil, how do you know if the ideas were submitted? Do you get an email or something?

Wil 08-04-2012 08:28 AM

They go to a shared email account. But in one day we've got 1000 suggestions, so I'm not going to go rummaging for specific ones.

pupbenny 08-04-2012 08:44 AM

No, I know, I was just making sure I wasn't meant to get an email or something.

Also, how many times can you enter?

Wil 08-04-2012 08:52 AM

Any number. Knock yourself out.

And no, I didn't think to set up an automatic message to the sender, but that could be really simple to set up. Or impossible. I'd have to investigate, and it's the weekend.

pupbenny 08-04-2012 09:03 AM

Ok, and one last question! What if you choose a name but someone chose it before? Are you making sure that it is protected against that? You don't just choose the first one you find you choose the first person to send that answer?

JennyGenesis 08-04-2012 09:30 AM

Well, maybe they will credit everybody who had the same name, like Wil said, they had 1000 e-mails in a day, would be hard to find a specific one.

Most email clients have a “sort by date” option

JennyGenesis 08-04-2012 10:43 AM

Well that wouldn't help, as people could submit the same name on different dates.
