2001 isn't retro either.

There's no dictionary definition of retroness. Anything that has been superseded can be regarded as retro.

Wings of Fire 03-09-2012 05:54 PM

No. I'm not old enough to have anything that was produced after I could walk to school on my own retro.

I refuse.

I used it from 2001 onwards as a hand-me-down thing. In fact it's a Nokia 5190 from 1997. 15 years. I think that counts as retro as far as mobile phones are concerned... That's as old as Abe's Oddysee.

And it was old even when I got it!

Wings of Fire 03-09-2012 07:01 PM

Oh fine.

RoryF 03-10-2012 06:39 AM

I've been thinking about upgrading the Libretto's hard drive to 16GB+ using a funny IDE SSD replacement. Shouldn't be too difficult since the Libretto has just 2 screws and the Hard Drive can just be slid out and replaced with another 2.5" IDE Hard Drive. The thing that confuses me though is the fact that the hard drive takes up like 70% of the space in the unit, how is there room for PCMCIA and other computery stuff.

Also, I'm going to try and take it to a tech shop to swap the standard old 6.1" TFT Display with a touchscreen, 100% possible as special models have been made in the past with this exact spec.

The touchscreen is undoubtedly the most exciting thought.

Strike Witch 03-10-2012 09:53 PM

My family had an old green iMac.

Nanosaur was revolutionary.

Crashpunk 03-11-2012 03:57 AM

Them shelves are pretty much what I want in my room. And DAMN YOU with your SNES! :tard:

RoryF 03-16-2012 10:38 AM

Finally! The Libretto now has 40GB instead of 1.5GB! This was not an easy hack by any means and almost lost the Libretto. It fell on the floor with the motherboard out because I was working with my friend on it and somebody knocked it off but now it's absolutely fine and works great!:D

I FOUND IT

Crashpunk 03-17-2012 04:49 AM

That is one awesome looking Gameboy. I've always had a thing for semi-transparent plastic on games.

The N64s looked so awesome

Mudokon_Master 03-17-2012 04:54 AM

Oh wow, I didn't realise there were so many versions of the N64. I have the black one with a few old carts of unheard of titles.

RoryF 03-17-2012 05:51 AM

I have the black one as well, but not with a grey controller, mine has opaque coloured yellow, blue, red and green. Twisted Edge and V-Rally Edition 99 are my favourites without a doubt and unfortunately there aren't any good pc rom dumps for them. :(

Sekto Springs 03-17-2012 09:23 AM

Man, when I read the title of this thread, I expected stuff like this.

Edison is the OG retro master.

The Aeolipile.

This steam reaction turbine was invented by Hero of Alexandria in the first century CE.

OANST 03-17-2012 10:11 AM

He's my...oh, I can't even say it.

Bullet Magnet 03-17-2012 10:32 AM

He does sound like a Fable protagonist.

Crashpunk 03-17-2012 03:28 PM

Surely stuff like that would be considered "Vintage"? :tard:

Nate 03-17-2012 05:24 PM

I've got one of them. I was bitterly disappointed when I realised that this model didn't come with Tetris.

I only ever had about two games for it, because I got it not long before they switched to the pocket/colour/GBA/etc.

I'd say so, looking up vintage laptop gives you stuff like the Compaq Portable III, but Retro Laptop gives you things like an old Toshiba Tecra.
EDIT: If anyone wants the retro netbook (Toshiba Libretto) like my one, there's a 100CT going on eBay for £50: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toshiba-Li...item4cff77227d

Crashpunk 03-25-2012 08:20 AM

I've updated my collection! take a look

I've just bought a
-Sega Megadrive 2: Pretty much a Megadrive only improved,
-PSone: a Playstation but much smaller. I think it is actually the smallest home console ever made.
and a little gem called a Interstate Pistol TV game 1160.

http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...30333463_n.jpg

It was released in 1979 which makes it the oldest console I own and is pretty much a Pong styled game but with sports and gun games. I don't actually have the gun so the pistol shooting games are out of the question.

What did I pay for them? £2 each. :tard:

and I might own a SNES very soon, I saw a cracking deal on eBay :P

Spooce-aholic 03-26-2012 12:39 PM

When I was really young, I had a whole bunch of computers (about 6) with Windows ME (beta) on them. My dad, bros, and I would play games like Quake 1 - 3 and Doom II on them together.

I think I was the best (atleast at Quake 2).

Crashpunk 03-27-2012 11:10 AM

scrabface 03-28-2012 08:26 AM

mine just vanished - coincidence? I think not. GIVE IT BACK
also don't think I fall for your fake price tag. it's obviously shopped.

And it was overpriced!

£34.99 for the console in amazing condition, 2 controllers(One is offical), 3 games (One being Super Mario All Stars). What part of that is overpriced?

...and why would I fake the price tag?

Dynamithix 03-28-2012 09:36 AM

Ah well, I don't know how much it's going for anyways. 35 quid just seems like a hefty price.

What the fuck is your problem? Seriously, I haven't done anything to try and piss you off at all in this thread and you're just on purposely targeting me. Leave me the fuck alone and do something productive instead.

Crashpunk 03-28-2012 11:29 AM

Don't take it personally Oddman, MA is just messing around... I think

Oh and a better picture.
