There's nothing about that on BoI wiki afaik, and "Game's got harder" after 6completion is just more colored enemies, without actual "IQ" increase

Gurdy's okay. Bomb, run in circles, shoot boils as they appear, leave flies until the end, repeat.

4 Boils at the time + gurdy's attacks + a pooter = *almost* impossible to get nodmg, which got me mad several times : ( He's not hard to kill (no BoI boss is), but he's a pain in the A while trying to get Spelunker Boy

Well, that was fun. Just Maggy left to do now. Pretty annoying way to discover that Isaac doesn't have a completion bonus though.

I actually agree that none of the bosses in BoI are particularly challenging. If I played the game more often I doubt I would struggle with them at all. The only reason I keep dying in the Mom fight is that I haven't fought her enough times to learn her patterns, but I'm getting much better now.

I fought Peep as a mini-boss in the Womb in my last playthough. I was only on 1 heart and he fucking killed me :(

The bosses in BoI are not hard, really : o Once you learn their attack patterns, weak points and you get some lucky items (Fetus in a jar + Mr.Mega), you can kick them out in no time. And their attacks can't hurt you more than 1 heart (you usually have 6 or more at the time)... let's compare it to the last boss in Castlevania (Dracula):

He's got 2 forms, the first one has only one attack + teleporting, but even if you know that, it's extremely hard to avoid that - you have to jump at very, very accurate time - and you cant just hit his body - the only vulnerable part is head. You can't hit his head without jumping. And after he finished attack he teleports so you can't hit him then, so you have to do very-well-timed jumps to avoid his attacks and hit his head at the same time (it's harder than you may think). Oh, and his single attack takes 1/4 of your life or something (always)... and he's got a second form. And you have to hit him at least 16 times to see that second form (without weapon upgrade 32 times, I think)...

Finally got to the womb. I had some pretty neat items—full damage, full range, full (I think) speed, six or seven maximum hitpoints, and the horse thing that lets you fly. But then I got to the womb, and it was my first time there, so... I died pretty quickly.

Keep trying :) Once you've beaten womb 3-4 times and learned about enemies, it'll look much easier to you :D I remember dying 2 rooms from start point at my first journey to Womb

Oh right. I got Judas aaages ago, I guess I must have already done it with Isaac and forgotten. Or maybe I thought the first complete doesn't count because you don't have The Womb.

Yes, completing depths for the first time doesn't count as completing full game, and is rewared by unlocking Womb itself :)

I beat the Womb on my first attempt.

I must admit, I was pretty powerful. I had ample hearts and was dealing shitloads of damage with Brimstone.

Yeah. My first Womb complete was with Brimstone and Chocolate Milk, which lets you shoot without charging.

My most recent was with "high damage spectral rock laser". (Damage upgrades + Ouija Board + A Small Rock + Technology. I got Technology in Basement 1 and proceeded to destroy everything, as you can see above.)

Maggy's quite good. Got speed upgrades early so the slowness wasn't a problem, but I did have an encounter with Lust that was actually a threat for once. Also got Giant Mushroom and Mini Mush, so I ended up normal size again :D

Googled. Isaac isn't important. I unlocked Judas by completing The Womb with Cain, so boo-yah-sucks-to-you.

It must just be the first womb completion. I think I beat Mom in The Depths for the first time as Eve, but the game doesn't care at that point.

Mom's knife is great unless you've got low firerate/range. Then it sucks.

Chocolate milk and knife is a great combination. Poison knife isn't bad either.

Yay, I beat Mom's Heart with Maggy. The Yum Heart was a huge help; I kept it until the very end.

Yeah. She's slow, but does okay damage and is nigh-on immortal.

Also my fastest Run:Win turnaround by far, which hopefully means I'm getting better at the game.

Also, Boils are so fucking fast to regenerate now. If there's more than four it takes me minutes to kill them all. Plus they fire every 3/4 of a second.

Common Cold is down to luck, but you could just get Judas to headbutt flies for a while if you want the Pinking Shears.

The original is out now, free, and it's hard as nails. Complete that if you really want to impress.

I died 100times : D (Hell, that was a kamikaze run) and unlocked it but I wasn't lucky to find it in an item room. The same goes with the Common Cold (I saw it one time in satan's room, but my HP was to low to afford it at the time)

The achievement and secret didn't actually show up till now for some reason.

So I'm back on Judas again, who's refreshingly powerful after playing the others. For the first time I'm finding the game generally easy, not by an overpowered combo or anything. I get the right upgrades, find Transendence early on which is useful, crank up fire rate to maximum and use Book of Belial frequently. End up with maxed out coins, loads of bombs and more keys than I could ever use.

Wander nonchalantly through the Womb, get a really easy Blastocyst variant for Boss 1, almost lose my health a couple of times but get lucky with slot machines and Little C.H.A.D. Then, just outside the boss room, I get taken down to four hearts.

"Should I go back and look for more? I've blown up all the slot machines but I could probably find another, I've got 99 coins* and enough damage output that I'd still make a net health gain."

I'm at the last room of getting two wins in a row for the first time ever.

"Nah. It'll be fine."

Do the tried-and-tested Bomb 'n' Strafe method, get Mom's Heart down to maybe a quarter of her health, then get hit by a stray blood bomb and die. I didn't even get a chance to use Whore of Babylon.

The real kicker? I just remembered I had The Fool card. I could have got myself out of there when my health got low, but I forgot.

If you skipped every boss you would miss out on a lot of items, I guess, but I definitely wouldn't mind missing out on the Mom fight.

It's only useful to me if I find it Depths 2 or lower, where I'm not going to be missing much in the way of items.

Hmm. Finally beat Mom's Heart with Cain, getting the Basement Boy achievement in the process. I also found two 1UP mushrooms, although I didn't use the second one.

Yup. Seems last time was no bad omen, since I was more careful this time around and defeated Mom easily. Or maybe Judas is just really overpowered. Weapon of choice was merely Homing Spectral Tears, plus Lil Gish's Slow Tar.

Complete opposite of last run, no stat upgrades WHATSOEVER, nor a single activated item. I just got loads of companions and health ups, plus a couple of tear effects.

I've officially decided I like any item with "Lil'" in the name. Lil' Chubby, Lil' C.H.A.D., Lil' Gish... All good.

Success like this makes 100% seem a little less fantastical.

This is what happens when damage is set to 255 and you charge a shot. Obvious impossibility but I think it's cool how tear size scales with damage.
