Peahat wants your family. Digested.

Hazel-Rah 10-31-2011 09:42 AM

I love Zelda, I have all the games except the handheld ones. I'm playing Link to the Past atm; I think it's the best Zelda game artistically because it contributed so much like: the Master Sword, Zelda's Lullaby, light and dark world gameplay, etc.

But they're all good as hell

StrangerEastwood 10-31-2011 09:52 AM

Especially as OoT is kinda a retread of aLttP, Just a damned amazing retread.

Hazel-Rah 10-31-2011 09:54 AM

Aren't all Nintendo games just retreads of previous titles? :P Amazing retreads (usually)

Crashpunk 10-31-2011 10:00 AM

They follow a similar pattern only with twists. Its not a bad thing, I actually like it.

StrangerEastwood 10-31-2011 10:02 AM

Yes, except perhaps MM's real time world and...huh. Cant think of another example right now. lol And that's why mario bores the hell outta me now. As Shigeru Miyamoto put it, "The nintendo of today would not have hired me."

Crashpunk 11-04-2011 09:43 AM

I've been playing through the original Zelda on the NES. I love this game to death although it is suprising challenging even now. If you know the right routes and secrets it is easliy the shortest Zelda game.

Crashpunk 11-17-2011 01:42 AM

Well tommorow is the launch of Skyward Sword, I'm so freaking exsited.
Anyone pre-orded it or getting the limited edtion one with the golden Wiimote plus and soundtrack?

jumper 11-17-2011 10:39 AM

Not pre-ordered. Planning on getting it for Christmas, because playing Zelda on Christmas day brings back good memories.

StrangerEastwood 11-17-2011 10:42 AM

Ah, same here...majora's Mask...

HHNNNGGGH. :p

My friend got the game today and he has sent me four text messages within two hours all about how great Skyward Sword is. This is the first Zelda game that has got my interest. If I'd have a Wii, I'd get this.

Ridg3 11-17-2011 12:24 PM

Pre-ordered Skyward Sword also, the limited edition one at that. This is going to be my proper introduction into the Zelda games.

I don't think not getting passed the second dungeon in Links Awakening counts as an introduction.

Jordan 11-18-2011 08:37 AM

Played Skyward Sword for the first time today! I'm really enjoying it so far, and the sword mechanics are fun. :D Only thing that's annoying me about it at the moment is the emphasis on moving the Wii remote for certain sections, I've always hated having to keep it still in one place, it kills my arm. Other than that all is great, it's far more Zelda-y than Twilight Princess.

Crashpunk 11-18-2011 03:09 PM

My mate got it today and he is going to play it all weekend.

I won't see him.

Where the hell did Link get those?

Crashpunk 12-23-2011 01:48 AM

The REAL Zelda Timeline
http://www.officialnintendomagazine....ine-explained/

Main Timeline
1. Skyward Sword
2. Minish Cap
3. Four Swords
4. Ocarina Of Time

Split 1: Link defeats Ganon - childhood branch
a) Majora's Mask
b) Twilight Princess
c) Four Swords Adventures

Split 2: Link defeats Ganon - adult branch
a) Wind Waker
b) Phantom Hourglass
c) Spirit Tracks

Split 3: Link fails in Ocarina Of Time
a) A Link To The Past
b) Oracles
c) Link's Awakening
d) The Legend Of Zelda
e) The Legend Of Zelda II

I still don't understand it :/

Jordan 12-23-2011 04:27 AM

I find it so chilling that there is a split where Link actually fails in OoT.

Does this make it a little easier to understand, Chris? The only branch I can't get my head around at the moment is the one where Link fails.

Crashpunk 12-24-2011 02:12 PM

No. Not at all :tard:

Dynamithix 12-24-2011 02:20 PM

Wait what? Have they never revealed the official timeline of the games? That's strange.

Jordan 12-25-2011 01:12 AM

It was always unclear whether Nintendo intended the games to be linked or to all be different takes on the ideas and concepts, like Final Fantasy.

It got translated from the Hyrule Historia.

EDIT: Just played Skyward Sword, Best Wii Game ever. I actually take back what I said about Skyward Sword being the best Zelda game. It isn't in my opinion, its reallly close though :D

E'l Scrabino 12-29-2011 01:53 AM

So I was playing Skyward sword earlier today, and I accidentally asked Fi about my play time (the hints are mostly useless in any case but I like to give them a shot) and it turns out I'd been playing for 9 hours. Looks like I should take a break.

Skyward Sword is my favorite LoZ game to date. Also, I've always wondered about how the games linked up (dohohoho), so it's nice to see that a timeline has been constructed.

Jordan 12-29-2011 03:34 AM

I've been playing it way too much lately. A load of hours every night. I'm so freaking engrossed though.

Crashpunk 12-31-2011 09:28 AM

I've been having trouble with the controls, I swear the sword has a mind of its own sometimes. The Loftwing and the Beetle are a little too sensitive for my liking and the bombs are really annoying to roll. I guess I'm not used to it yet however I'm so used to the Twilight Princess controls, that may be the problem.

Anyway, I'm currently 6 hours in, I'm at the 2nd temple trying to find the pieces for the Temple Key. I was messing around in the Sky for waaay too long :D

Jordan 12-31-2011 09:49 AM

Yeah, the motion controls can be very irritating. They've come a long way and are a lot better than when the Wii was first released, but it still has its disadvantages. Especially when Diving from the bird. Fuck me, you move the remote one way and Link will fly across to the other side of the screen so you have to keep repeating it to get it right. You'll get used to the beetle and the bombs quickly, I find them so fun to use. :D
