What's happening?

Well, actually, Christopher Eccleston was credited as 'Doctor Who'. Tennant objected and it got changed to 'The Doctor' when he took on the role.

But he wasn't called Who in the episodes. Credits aren't canon, unless there really are such words tunnelling through the time vortex.

He wasn't definitively not called 'Who' though.

We'll just have to wait until Matt Smith decides to quit before we find out.

Must be the last one. Dorium didn't have a scene in the TARDIS in his other two appearances I know of.

He also mentions when he arrives on the Ood planet in The End of Time that he had, er, invalidated Elizabeth's nickname.

OH LOOKS LIKE I WAS RIGHT. Yawn.

I didn't predict it, if only because I didn't see it as being important or interesting or relevant to anything much beyond having a nice pointless mystery.

And I prefer not to see The Doctor as being actually important on a cosmological scale. Though I concede that the current and immediate previous show runners clearly don't agree with me on that one.

I like that that's something Moffat at least is keen to address - showing there be terrible consequences of The Doctor becoming known across the universe and The Doctor wanting to become more low key as a result. That might lead to some more... level headed stories.
