I recently met a guy who had previously worked for NASA and he suggested that that was Bush's plan all along. He said that if they simply shut down NASA, there'd be a public outcry, but if you give them an impossible task and allocate all the resources of the organisation specifically to that task, it will be easier to take those resources away once everyone realises it was a mistake.

Why work towards becoming a spacefaring race and exploring the universe when that money can be spent on flinging crap at each other like apes? (missiles, etc)

Indeed, also on the subject of teenage pregnancy it wasn't much of an issue at the school I went to although I did go to a private one.

Perhaps teenage pregnancies could be curbed by encouraging parents to actually talk to their teens about that stuff, removing child payments from the government and making contraception/abortions cheaper?

Well you see it really does explain my physical appearance. But I guess the uterus or wherever it is babies are made is pretty near the stomach I mean in the tummy.

We learned at an early age about pregnancy at school. Sex education was pretty thorough. They had animations with these colored people who showed how periods went and stuff.

Sex ed did put me off dick for a long while though(They used these really horrible icky photos of bushy wrinkly dicks in bad quality).... It made them look very bad and I remember thinking: Im never putting one of those things inside of me.

So yea. Sex ed nearly turned me lesbo :D

Anyway i do feel that girls are getting a bit too excited over babies ._. ... Or at least it seems that way now that they are more prominent on TV and stuff.

And I suppose thats a downwards spiral cos things that gain publicity(whether good or bad) tend to make more people aware of it and thus follow the trend.

It was the same discussion here in denmark too about cutting. People were debating whether more people started cutting cos of them hearing about it or some other reasons.

In the end, early pregnancy is bad IMO, cos it sometimes means the girls drop out of school, and no education leads to problems :(

Well, they kinda do have to have some realistic features on it for Sex ed. It isn't as if they're going to show you a gorgeous blond with a nicely trimmed/shaved vagina and and hunky, ripped man with a huge ass penis.

They need to show you what it's really like, how disgusting sex actually is and how horrible and ugly real life pee-pee parts are.

When I was in fourth year in secondary school, the year below me were shown a sex ed video.

I was jealous, I wanted to see sex.

I was ill the day we got shown a video but everyone said it was nasty.

We were shown sex education twice in our school life. Aged 11 and 12. Now I know of 10 girls who are pregnant all before their 18th birthday and 3 before their 19th.

Now I'm not against teen pregnancey in theory. But seeing some extremely talented people get preggers and waste their education and be forced to possibly never fulfil their potential to the utmost. It just makes me sad.

I'm not against teen pregnancey in theory because I know of several teenage mums who have florished after having a child and actually not be on benefits They have their own flat, the fathers stick by their child and seem to generally seem to have a healthy family life.

Age has nothing to do with it, maturity (and I guess a bit of luck) does.
