And Glitch being the new Lorne.

That's not fair. Glitch actually says things when he talks instead of using Lorne's ability to let some kind of hippy bullshit newspeak fall out of his mouth for half an hour without ever saying anything that anyone can put a finger to, and say "Here! Here is some meaning".

Glitch will have to work extra, extra hard to reach Lorne's level of bullshit is all I'm saying.

Varrok 02-01-2012 08:35 AM

Just admit you're jealous

Of course. As a person who works in marketing I am both fascinated and jealous of Lorne's ability to spew meaningless garbage, and still convince people that what he's saying makes sense, and is possibly visionary.

STM 02-01-2012 09:11 AM

And yet you hang about on a forum for a game series he created.

Sekto Springs 02-01-2012 09:43 AM

The quality of a creation doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of it's creator. *cough* George Lucas *cough*

I'm actually glad Lorne remained relatively reserved in the messages he put in the Oddworld games. The art came first, which I admire. I am more than certain, however, that there was plenty of damage-control on behalf of the PR guys as to what Lorne was allowed to say in his games.

Now if only Doug fucking TenNapel could get the same PR guys, we could re-live the glorious 90's all over again.

I never said I was smart or anything.

STM 02-01-2012 11:23 AM

You insinuate it repeatedly though. Don't worry, I forgive you.

MeechMunchie 02-01-2012 11:42 AM

He stopped being interested in Oddword years ago. He's just here for kicks.

STM 02-01-2012 11:55 AM

And because he loves us. Each and every one.

I'm looking forward to synergising my skill base above and beyond the status quo by extrapolating the market base previously explored by Lorne. The future looks to be a time of incredible expansion and unparalleled in terms of levels of furtive creation. I am, personally, excited for all of our onside customers who invest in our ongoing strategies; their ad-hoc approval of our creative structures will allow us to gain the capital we need in order to firmly establish a foundation in our chosen market niche.

OANST or Lorne?

Varrok 02-02-2012 03:08 AM

Both

That's the spirit.

STM 02-02-2012 09:26 AM

You laugh now, but Lorne is crying over this, bitter, bitter tears.

OANST 02-02-2012 09:39 AM

Well, that's what he get, 'cause I cry every time I read one of his damn interviews.

STM 02-02-2012 09:39 AM

What about his fan fiction?

OANST 02-02-2012 09:45 AM

Naaaaaaate, STM is troooooolling meeeeee.

STM 02-02-2012 10:36 AM

Oh how things have changed in your absence my boy.

Oh how things have changed in your absence my boy.

A laudable attempt at bravado, however it is merely a façade.

MeechMunchie 02-02-2012 10:50 AM

A façade, I say! An imitation most inept!

Ah, "Façade". A word so eloquent it has a beard.

Oh, how you saw through my elaborate reuse. It seems the jest was significant yet the cover was lacking.

Glitch 02-02-2012 12:52 PM

I feel that, once again it falls to me to lower the tone. So, with that in mind, nipples.

Nah, you were just shit.

Wil 02-02-2012 01:27 PM

So, anyone know a web dev?

OANST 02-02-2012 01:37 PM

I heard Glitch does stuff like that.

Havoc 02-02-2012 02:46 PM

I know these two girls who used to do web dev... well sort of.

Nope. I hate web development. Did it for a little while, discovered it's soul eroding properties, and got out.

Wil 02-03-2012 12:45 AM

So I need to target people without souls. Good to know.

Havoc 02-03-2012 03:51 AM

Gingers it is!

Your face is shit! Hah!

Also, web development.

Gingers it -- fuck, Havoc beat me to it.

Wil 02-03-2012 01:02 PM

I was thinking more along the lines of people that discriminate against ginger people.

MOD EDIT: Ginger discussion split off to this thread here.

Xavier 02-07-2012 11:36 PM

Come on people, this is why we can't have nice things. You know, like a new Oddworld Library. :)

abe is now! 02-08-2012 09:22 AM

Get back to Max the Mug, Wil!

Havoc 02-16-2012 05:31 AM

I really don't get why you can't just use Mediawiki though. It's a fine piece of software as far as I can tell from my limited experience with it.

Wil 02-16-2012 06:49 AM

I've been using MediaWiki for a while, but it just pisses me off. As in, I simply cannot use it without slapping my face against walls of spikes, because that at least gives me relief from the painful clumsiness of it.

For example, when you paste any text into its editor, the cusor moves. It doesn't go to the end of the text you paste in, or even the beginning, it goes to a random point in the line before the text you paste in. Who is that helping?

If you copy text from the editor, it inserts double spaces randomly. They don't match newlines or wraps or anything: they're just pointlessly inserted for NO REASON.

The only plugin that powers references (and I use a LOT of references) uses a pain-in-the-arse bunch of redundant syntax. Let me give some example code.

Pain. In. The. Arse. Especially when even my pathetic regex skills can come up with a neater solution.

God that felt good. And page redirects. There are no regex redirects. If I want everything that can be described by ^(o(dd)?w(orld)?(:)?)?a(be(')?s)?o((ddysee)|(dyssey))? to redirect to the Abe's Oddysee page, I have to manually add a separate redirect for each possible string.

Just a few examples for you there.

Havoc 02-16-2012 07:12 AM

Fair enough. Carry on.

MeechMunchie 02-16-2012 02:56 PM

I didn't understand any of that. Should I be aroused?

Havoc 02-16-2012 05:39 PM

I think another question that should be asked here, how much are you willing to pay? People are willing to do a lot, writing an entire wiki content management system from scratch for no pay isn't one of them, I'm pretty sure.
