There was a black millipede on the wall in the hallway yesterday. Still perplexed how it even got in.

It didn't bother me at all, so I just left it be, which is odd considering I indiscriminately destroy anything with more than four legs.

The only bugs I don't like are flies and house centipedes. Fuck house centipedes.

These guys are also pretty useful in getting rid of pests. They don't really like going out in the open so it's rare to see them (unless you surprise them by turning on a light), they can't really hurt you, the only bad thing about them is all the legs really.

I like to think it's because millipedes lack what make most bugs unattractive. They move slow instead of being quick and unpredictable, their tiny legs move in a way like we use our legs, and if you so much as touch them they just curl up until you go away.

I've met people who dislike woodlice though, and they act basically the same.

Did I tell my story about the zombie ants?

EDIT: And I don't mean the ones with the fungus in their brains, morbidly fascinating though that is.

I'm well aware that they're helpful, but they do bite. And hard. I also do see them surprisingly often, but I can probably credit that to the fact that my room is dark and in the basement.

Gwan-Thwei 06-17-2011 08:14 AM

I once knew someone who kept an african giant centipede, which grew to about a foot long. He fed it mice. Was really cool to watch.

Dixanadu 06-17-2011 09:08 AM

Any species of centipede is a blight and must be destroyed.

They eat bats. Fucking bats.

I like bees. They're vicious little bastards though. Gotta be careful.
Spiders are cool.
Scorpions are cooler.

:

I love jumping spiders. If I had one that was like, Cat sized, I'd keep it as a pet. How cool would that be?

Oh, fuck off already.

You first, Ench. Stop being so goddamn objectionable.

Dixanadu 06-17-2011 07:42 PM

Ench has caught the MA virus:

Hatred towards Gwan-Thwei.

Also, bees.

Bullet Magnet 06-17-2011 08:31 PM

There are videos on Youtube of live mice being fed to centipedes. Brilliant.

There's also one of a mouse being fed to piranhas. That was less cool, and actually disturbing. It was not quick.

Sorry, but I'm an extremely objectionable person. :(

I don't hate Gwan-Thwei, I just hate his posts.

STM 06-18-2011 03:30 AM

You know that even though he's not physically here on this thread at the moment, MA is feeding off your hatred, foul energies growing and bloating inside his sickening black vortex of a heart. Or maybe he's riding a tractor who knows.

I've had mice limping around my house with organs hanging out and flanks absent. Who need YouTube when you've got a cat?

Bring your cat to STM's bee orgy.

YEOWZA!

dripik 06-19-2011 02:25 AM

I find spiders OK. Used to be afraid of them as a kid, but I grew out of it. Probably because of their eating flies, which annoy me a lot. Then again, we don't have a wide variety of spiders here. A larger one crawling about would probably make me fall out of my chair.

:

When I was akid I used to throw random insects in spiderwebs and watch the spider eat them and stuff.

I did that too with flies when I was swatting them at my grandmother's. They are choosy though, they were not interested in flies that didn't move anymore.

Wasps, I don't like. Stepped into one with bare feet when I was younger, and was later stung by a ninja wasp that hid in a shoe I was retrieving from its place. Cheeky little vermin. I'm cool with bees for some reason. They seem less interested in me, they just mind their own business whenever I see them. Wasps tend to fly about in front of my face, they just provoke a response so that they can sting me.

Also, bedbugs. They haven't been mentioned before, it seems, though I feel they should have a place in this thread. Does this mean noone else had any experience with them?

enchilado 06-19-2011 02:49 AM

I've never seen a bedbug before.

But.

Fuck these bitches. They hurt like fuck.

MA 06-19-2011 07:28 AM

use Frontline. does the trick. like my flea collar.

Crashpunk 06-19-2011 07:38 AM

Argggh. I hate Moths and Spiders.

I was in the shower once and I saw this huge moth just fly past my face. Scared the living crap outta me.

MA 06-19-2011 07:46 AM

i love moths. i love garden spiders. i dislike harvester spiders and crane flies. i can't touch them because i worry too much about accidentally breaking one of their legs, and if i do i feel instantly sick. poor, miserable, fucked-up things.

STM 06-19-2011 08:07 AM

Try being bitten by a horse fly.

I hate them, harvestmen and crane flies terrify me so much, I don't like to kill them but if I see one flying towards me I won't hesitate to kill them. It's the long legs that just dangle around. Ugh. I can't stand the disgusting wretches that pull their legs off though it sickens me.

Manco 06-19-2011 03:14 PM

Harvestmen? Seriously? They're like, the least threatening arachnid.

STM 06-19-2011 03:37 PM

tiny head and enormous legs...yuck. It is an irrational fear though so what can I do. I only have irrational fears which is stupid.

Dixanadu 06-19-2011 03:50 PM

Harvestmen aren't at all threatening or scary looking.

Maybe it's their tiny body.

STM 06-19-2011 03:55 PM

As I just said, it's an irrational fear, I can't help not liking them.

MA 06-19-2011 04:03 PM

same goes for cave centipedes with me. never come across one, obviously, but i think i'd freak out if i was in the same room as one. daft, really.

mr.odd 06-19-2011 04:10 PM

I have a phobia with spiders sadly. I don't freak out, it's more like i freeze up like a deer in head lights. Bad childhood experience.

STM 06-19-2011 04:15 PM

I have the worst phobia here but I don't know if I want to say because even my brother gives me trouble about it, every time I've told someone, (and that's only three people) two of them have mocked me for it.

mr.odd 06-19-2011 04:18 PM

Come on tell. Or it least give us a hint. Or PM it to me, i promise i won't tell.

STM 06-19-2011 04:19 PM

I have kompounophobia I don't like to write the word of what it is I have a phobia of but if you type that in you'll get it. I can't breath when I say it it's that bad. =(

mr.odd 06-19-2011 04:21 PM

I don't dare google it...

STM 06-19-2011 04:23 PM

It's not disgusting for you don't worry but it is to me for some reason. Trust me it won't affect you at all.

mr.odd 06-19-2011 04:28 PM

i was expecting a bug.

STM 06-19-2011 04:29 PM

=*( in my opinion there isn't anything worse to have a phobia of because whether I like it or not I have to wear them for the rest of my life.

I have a sudden urge for vagina.

enchilado 06-19-2011 04:55 PM

Same, and I don't even find her attractive.

It's probably because I'm a teenage virgin.

STM 06-19-2011 04:57 PM

What the fucking hell Dixanadu, if I specifically say I can't even type the fucking word why the fuck would you think that posting a fucking picture of them is a fucking good idea? Please I actually want an answer, fucking seriously.

OddjobAbe 06-19-2011 05:17 PM

I'm more repulsed by that big gap in her ear than the offending clothing devices.
