Sounds like the server went down pretty well. I'll have to get online more often.

Oh, playing online means I can log in when I'm at my girlfriend's this weekend and don't have to start over this time! Sweet. Dripik you better have it running when she's at work. I have a lot of plans.
Don't worry, it'll be on.
I'm rendering an isometric map of the MP world right as I'm typing this. I'll post up the "inhabited" section of it when it's done. EDIT: http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1306448173 |
Wow, it's like a little village or so. (It's also helping me see where the railway system should go next. :) )
Looks awesome. I can see my little project.
You know what I'm really tempted to do? Is to implement a better torch laying system to navigate caves.
The setup that I seen was extremely confusing and I could get easily lost down there. I was thinking for the next time an excavation is happening; only put torches on the left hand side of the tunnel. So that means that whenever you want to go deeper into the cave you follow the torches that are visible on the left hand side of the screen and if you want to exit you follow the torches on the right hand side. I'll be perfectly okay for doing this entire project myself with that main cave that we have. It would be a lot better I think. |
How about you just put signs down pointing to the exit.
If I join, will you put up with the fact that I have absolutely no fucking clue as to what I'll be doing?

Well I'm not going to destroy anything on purpose. But I've seen plenty of videos of people accidentally burning shit to the ground. That seems...Problematic.
Burning things to the ground isn't going to cause that much of a problem anymore compared to old times. The fire has been nerfed... massively. Really is one of the easiest games to get the hang of, the only problem is for a beginner is trying to get all the materials needed to progress.
Wait what? How come I haven't known about this? Send me the ip next time it's up!
If any more people are going to join this we might have to start a dedicated server, lest we fry Dripik's computer and create a giant lag fest :p
:
It's really not all that complicated, you just need to know how certain blocks behave and how to make important items. :
If you have a vague idea of the concept 'teamwork', a tendency to be cautious about other people's work and you're not the attention-demanding type, you should be fine and welcome to the server. As it transpired, not everyone is blessed with such capabilities. But most of us get along well, even if we make a blunder every now and then.
The golden rule is: creeper-related accidents don't count. It's not worth raging about those, they are bound to happen. |
Problem with your plan, ridge; what if you get a wide cavern you can't illuminate with torches only on one side? What if it doesn't have enough floor to lay torches on it?
I strategically placed sand at key junctures in the cavern on my server. I had to keep an eye out for it but since sand rarely if ever appears below sea-level it worked well. Helped me realise how much the cave was leading me in circles, for one thing. |
:
As long as Dripik's computer holds out we should be fine though, but if it starts to get laggy like with the 1.6.2 patch it stops being fun quick. * a month. |

What if you get a looping tunnel?
What's the IP?
You need to PM Dripik.
Anyone want to help me making a life sized Paramonian Temple? PM me so we can brainstorm. It's killer to do by myself because it turns dark and I die. =) |
You can do that by yourself no problem if you're just going about it smart and put torches and stuff around and don't work at night.
How many torches does it take to ward away a skeleton then? Or stop a spider from killing you.
Also please, I'm not naming the person publicly but, stop leaving burning crosses in my house. It was funny the first time but next time I see it happen I'm going to do a little worse than leaving a burning cross in the person's house. Thank you. |
Monsters spawn in light levels of 7 or below. Light decreases by one level each block's distance from a light source. Torches emit light level 14. Therefore to ensure mobs don't spawn, don't let there be more than 12 blocks between torches.
Have you decided where to build yet? |
No, I'm thinking somewhere flat, but there's not much flat land that is easily findable.
:
While all the zombies, skeletons and creepers spawning in the dark side are emerging to eat your face?
That's basically the trouble with exploring anywhere alone. You want to build a wall or bridge to defend your back or provide light or cross a chasm, but the monsters just won't leave you alone. |
Don't you people use armor and weapons?
I never live long enough to justify making armour.
Our temple team needs a lot of gunpowder, if you have any, we will gladly trade it off you at a rate of 1:40 gunpowder to cobblestone/ dirt or sand (minor materials.)
I just popped 5 gunpowder in the communal chest. I'll have 200 cobblestone, please.
Why do you need gunpowder anyway?
He wants TNT. You know, after the server admin explicitly told him not to use any.
That's because I was going to use it near the habitable area not out in the sticks. Stop being a back seat moderator, I'm not four.
Who the hell do you think your talking to?
Don't be obtuse, Crashpunk. Max isn't a moderator; he's an administrator.
(Note: Irony.) By the way STM, my lair is somewhere below your house, so bear that in mind with whatever you're planning. |
Your lair is below my house? WHYY SPLATTICUS FINCH? Seriously when did that happen, I've been mining under my house for three days.
