If the world does end, then I'll be glad to go down burning as a follower of The Corruption. I follow what I want to follow, and no one can change that or stop me. Besides, I just do it for the lulz.
If the world doesn't end, then I'mma gonna go back to school and rub it in their religious faces. Again, for the lulz.

Though he'll get his comeuppance for misleading people of faith in the end.

Not really. 19 years ago he published a book claiming that the Rapture would occur in September 1994 but people still trusted him afterwards.

:

()
Why this date?

Apparently it's the anniversary of Noah's flood. No idea how he determined that detail though.

I'm actually contemplating getting out of my dressing gown and into some jeans, just in case.

Doesn't matter what you're wearing. Most versions I've heard imply that the people just disappear and leave their clothes behind.

I just had to throw that out there.

I just had to throw that out there.

Adam and Eve were naked in the Garden of Eden until they ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Feeling the need to be clothed is, in and of itself, shameful.

Besides, in heaven you probably don't have any bits to cover.

Pfft, people will believe anything. Actually I wonder how many people will take this seriously enough to lose their faith today?

That would be about the only good thing to come from this.

JennyGenesis 05-22-2011 02:15 AM

Apparently Harold Camping cannot be found now.........

what kind of heaven would lack sex

STM 05-22-2011 04:16 AM

Either they removed it from your want or...you can still do it, there's no definite answer to that.

Havoc 05-22-2011 04:27 AM

Is there a definite answer for anything related to your religion?

In many religions (and in Christianity in particular), sex is only for procreation. In heaven, procreation would be unnecessary and thus sex would be pointless. It's not like you're going to be sitting there sexually frustrated; in heaven you would have no actual desire for sex. You'd find much deeper fulfilment on a spiritual level.

STM 05-22-2011 05:42 AM

I suppose so, but if you don't want it in Heaven then it doesn't matter surely. On Earth yes, you might think how the Hell can we not have the most beautiful thing we are capable of but if you alleviate the want for it, then it becomes something unnecessary.

So another reason why religion is out-of-touch with the real world.

STM 05-22-2011 07:12 AM

Oh stop being all moody, everyone better thank their lucky stars for religion anyway because if there was no Islam or Christianity, we'd be living in the 1700s....

Have you considered that perhaps the 'real world' (or at least your perceptions and values therein) are out of touch with the true, deeper reality that is only revealed through religion?

Wait... how do I always end up in these discussions defending religion? God, I wish OWF could produce one competent religious debator so that I don't end up falling in to that role by default.

STM 05-22-2011 07:28 AM

So long as I'm here, that won't happen. Funny thing is, I cannot debate effectively on such matters as these on a forum...in IRL, I got an A+ for debating successfully on whether religion and God has caused more good than harm, and it was me against roughly 20 people...including a teacher who was really ferocious in acting an inquisitor when really she should have stayed neutral. I digress, the point is, OWF is some paradoxical entity were rolls are reversed.

Can God control the internet and does he know everything that goes on there? He made everything but then there has only been computers for fifty years and the 'internet' isn't actually physical...I confue myself.

It's perfectly feasible to have deep spiritual fulfilment and at the same time enjoy sex.

The internet is basically just electrical currents moving around the world between computers (both of which can be broken down into atoms), so yeah no the internet is actually physical.

So, God can be a mod of the entire internet, and edit anything recieved by computers through the currents?
I would love to do that! :D
I would edit the posts so they say something naughty hohoho =)

You're saying you're a good debater because you did well in a highschool debate?

Wings of Fire 05-23-2011 12:29 AM

I have a fucking qualification in debating. At post high-school level no less.

CrissCross 05-23-2011 12:39 AM

im good at debating because i talk so fast and make no sense that thy pants machine makes a mix of good jelly butter peanut requiem for a nyeaaa???

(this is why i'm single)

Dynamithix 05-23-2011 01:11 AM

what.

Wings of Fire 05-23-2011 01:12 AM

I believe that's commonly refered to as Argumentum ad Fucktardium.

Oh please, you just turn everything into a religious argument and use the word "fucking" in every sentence.

I can see how mature and awesome you are, yes.

Where did I say it wasn't feasible? I was talking about the concept of Christian spirituality.

If you're going to try to debate someone, you really need to put in the slightest of efforts towards understanding their point of view.

Eh, I never said I was mature, quite the contrary, and if you had the common decency to flick back a few posts you'd realise I said 'to hold and argument RL', (paraphrase)

Oh and erm, I made a religious argument, here and in the God debate...because well, it's all to do with this thing called Religion.

Bullet Magnet 05-23-2011 06:52 AM

Maybe the Rapture did happen, and no one made the grade.

STM 05-23-2011 07:00 AM

Mmm, not one person...and if you look out the window, you'll see all those minor demons wreaking havoc...although we could see Iran as the evil guys the Bible talk about.

All I'm saying is that it seems strange that a heaven would lack any physical pleasures.

what

T-nex 05-23-2011 08:12 AM

If the need for physical pleasure in heaven was removed... wouldn't that have defeated the whole purpose of free will?

Wouldn't that make god a brainwashing bastard?? :S

STM 05-23-2011 08:18 AM

We don't know, there's not enough information on Heaven for us to base any form of analysis on, don't make such accusations, especially if they are so offensively construed.
