From what I understand Take Two purchased the original publishing rights to Duke Nukem for 12 million dollars at the time and later added 2 million in developing costs. That's 14 million dollars to be cleared before any profit at all can be made.

I've already seen stores where you can preorder the game for around 44 dollars or so, which would mean they'd have to sell at least 310.000 copies of the game to break even. For a game franchise this old, with most fans having moved on and current younger gamers not having a clue what Duke Nukem is, I don't think they are going to make that number in retail/legal sales. It's not a highly anticipated title like CoD, it won't have people sleeping infront of gamestores and the only thing game magazines have to say about is: "Hey guess what, DNF is actually being released. You can go get it if you still care."

I think Take Two is going to be having a party if they manage to break even. Judging the current situation they are merely doing damage control at the moment.

I have no doubt in my mind that it can reach 310,000 copies sold. They're gonna be marketing the shit out of this one.

Well not on TV, then again I don't watch much American TV so I wouldn't really know. All I know is that, between all the casual family shit like Wii jumping games and Kinect fitness stuff, over here there are extremely little TV commercials for games. Last one I saw was for Black Ops and before that was GTA4.

Marketing on the internet is kind of redundant for DNF, given it's already wildly popular around these parts. It's the offline crowd you need to get to, and even if it's censored the anti-gaming lobby is going to have a field day with DNF's trailer, let alone the game.

No they're not. DNF is silly fun with tits and explosions. There isn't a hint at realism. Only the tardiest of tarded Censor commissioners would attempt to blockade its release.
