It can be alright. Just look at Donkey Kong 64.

I wouldn't know. I absolutely hate Nintendo 64. As a matter of fact I only liked the original Nintendo system and Super Nintendo. After that they just suck for me. However Abe will be with us forever!

ziggy 11-13-2010 08:18 PM

Chrematophobia! That's why they haven't released a game for a while. But I doubt it, I think I remember a cartoon of Lorne rubbing money on himself? Do you guys know what I'm talking about? I think it was a Penny Arcade strip. Oh and more characters to play as wouldn't necessarily be good. So I'm not excited until I actually see a trailer at least. Maybe since their last character Strange, was very physically strong, they might stray away from that and make something more puzzle oriented again. What if there was a character who had no arms, and they picked up everything with their mouth? Maybe it will star the siamese twins on the art book cover.

Lorne has featured in two PA strips:

Highly Anticipated! (the one you remember, I think);

and

Try Our Meef Quesarito

I'm not sure Penny Arcade likes Lorne much.

STM 11-14-2010 02:57 AM

Wait Ziggy could be on to something, maybe their not twins but one is a parasite living off a host, wasn't squeek going to be a parasitic creature?

Wil 11-14-2010 02:57 AM

I know Lorne didn't like Penny Arcade much for those.

STM 11-14-2010 03:04 AM

Heh, he's no fun! =D

enchilado 11-15-2010 02:51 AM

I didn't think either of them were funny.

OANST 11-15-2010 10:43 AM

I thought the second one was pretty funny.

Bullet Magnet 11-15-2010 12:02 PM

Why is his hat made of money?

OANST 11-15-2010 12:07 PM

Ask Lorne.

Wil 11-15-2010 01:21 PM

Because otherwise there'd be no such term as "money hat", which—as I understand it—came about because of something OddHunter forgot:

It Is Also Called "Moolah"

ziggy 11-15-2010 05:43 PM

THAT was the one I was thinking of!

Yeah, I did a search for "Lorne Lanning" to find the first two, and apparently that comic isn't tagged with that.

Also if I'm remembering correctly, Lorne actually does own a money hat.

I don't think Lorne with his anticapitalistic filosofy will ever own something like that because it will waste the message behind oddworld games.

By the way I would like to see a ME with Munch sole main charakter otherwise he will stay forever Abe's shadow.
And maybe rasurrecting the concept of giving Munch Jakil-Hide trasformation in order to balance Abe's Shrykull powers.

STM 11-18-2010 01:09 PM

I agree, seeing Much go Roid would be cool

Lorne isn't anti-capitalist. Why would he sell the games for cash if he was?

You have a point here... guess he his only against money hearted corporations...but with this they are still the 99.8% of them.
Maybe this is the reason he keeps changing platforms(PS-Xbox-PC-DS)?

marlz 12-15-2010 02:34 AM

Asmoden! It is good to see that I'm not the only one who wants the Shrykull back!
Good stuff, I completely agree. I mean, why leave the tattoos on his hands if he can't harness their powers?

Andrelvis 12-15-2010 09:12 PM

They should make Hand of Odd instead. I'm still yearning for that game.

Of course, the point is moot, since we will most probably get neither, but something new from Oddworld altogether.

Fred The Fuzzle 12-16-2010 12:26 AM

I think it would be wise for OWI to do a remake of MO, without Microsoft's time constraints. With all the stuff Lorne wanted to put in, and fix the flaws of the game. I think they should then sell them though both Digital Distribution and retail. Stranger's wrath felt finished and polished, Munch's Oddysee didn't.

OddChipango 12-16-2010 05:47 AM

I have a strong necessity of saving new mudokons.

I wouldn't mind seeing a bridge between AE & MO, Abe saving the remaining Mudokons.

Wil 12-16-2010 04:42 PM

Remaining Mudokons? Like the ones that were still slaves at the start of MO?

Andrelvis 12-16-2010 06:43 PM

Like Sam?

ziggy 12-16-2010 07:25 PM

Yes, maybe we should finally freakin see Sam.

mojito 12-17-2010 06:56 AM

they should come back to their impressive unique style showed in the first two games. no speaking chicken, no western scenario, no one eyed sheeps, etc. neat designs and a brilliant atmo made oddworld this popular (also gameplay of course). what they do with the story is less important.

Xavier 12-18-2010 11:14 AM

The story is what kept this forum alive during those last 6 game-less years.

mojito 12-18-2010 04:24 PM

well the story has a big influence to the atmosphere of a game, so my last sentence before wasnt right...

kjjcarpenter 12-23-2010 09:59 PM

Someone mentioned earlier that "Quintology" is a dumb thing to name a series. Well, it's not actually. A quintology means a series of five, be it a book, game or movie. Like trilogy, or tetralogy. Just thought I'd point that out, it's not the name of the series, but stating what the series is.

The Oddworld Quintology = The Oddworld Five Games

I don't think it was the story, but rather the atmosphere, the world of the series. It was all rather unique. That the storytelling was good (specially in Abe's Oddysee's case) was a plus, but doesn't seem the most important to me.

In theory, yes. In reality, 'Quintology' is a made up word. The real word that means a series of five is 'pentalogy'.

STM 12-24-2010 05:02 AM

Really? I didn't know that, I thought pentalogy was the name for the series before it collapsed. But then pent = 5. Thank you for enlightening me Nate.

kjjcarpenter 12-24-2010 05:38 AM

You may call it a made up word, but it is much the same as "quadrilogy", which is used for a number of different compilations, by taking the Latin prefix instead of the more common English one. Tetralogy being the more correct term, but sounding far less graceful, if you ask me. Although grammatically speaking they are made-up words, they are, in a sense, technically accurate.

Apart from all the literacy mumbo-jumbo, I personally believe quadrilogy sounds far better than pentalogy. Also, it may just be me, but it comes off as sounding like "Odd-ology". Quintology; Oddology. Probably just be me.

Manco 12-24-2010 05:41 AM

"The Oddworld Oddology"

kjjcarpenter 12-24-2010 05:44 AM

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the perfect reason why they didn't name it that, lol.

MeechMunchie 12-26-2010 08:22 AM

Erase Munch's Oddysee from history and make it The Oddworld Quoddrilogy.

Wil 12-26-2010 08:35 AM

That would be weird considering Munch has an important role to play in at least Squeek’s Oddysee.

He's the last Gabbit, and it's thought that research into Gabbits will reveal the cure for Gorman Disenza, a fatal disease that affects the rich, including a certain family member of a certain boss of a certain slaughterhouse who's been funding research organizations to develop a cure.
