I never noticed a difference, but then, I stuck with the Longshot sniper rifle in both games. And the chainsaw, when I could get it out.

Unless you're talking about another chainsaw weapon in Gears2 I don't know about. I'm actually kind of glad they weakened the shot gun in Gears 2 because that's the only weapon anyone ever uses in Gears 1 online and the games become way too "twitchy" for me, I like the Lancer and SMG. |
Yes, the shotgun makes working the chainsaw rather tricky.

GoW becomes a stealth game when you use the chainsaw.

Pretty much. The killings aren't very stealthy, though.
