People want to upgrade every year, so why should Apple build the iPod to last?
People only want to upgrade because their subconscious is raped on a daily basis by advertising. An iPod from two years ago really isn't any better than the most recent model, it's just a fashion statement.
Nobody actually needs to be able to hold 5000+ songs in a two-inch piece of plastic, but they have to buy it because television, radio, the internet, billboards, and the sides of buses tell them they do. Even though playing and storing music is it's primary function, that's not why people keep buying them, otherwise they'd buy one and be done with it.

I wish this wasn't true, and you were just talking out of your ass... But it really is true :(

I mean seriously.. Who would spend millions on marketing if it didn't work? It does work, it's part of my education too. We're learning to become sneaky fuckers.
I'd like to see myself as semi-immune to marketing though. I'm very aware of it, which makes it a great shield at all the unneeded subconscious brainwashing, but some of it probably still gets to me.
But mostly I research what I buy .. and stuff.

Eh.. Perhaps I should get an old pair of headset. I really don't doubt your words when you say those sennheiser headset are great. All the new headsets I've bought have degraded during maybe a month. Even my expansive one. ima kill em!!!

You think that Lady Gaga is pretty. You aren't immune to marketing.

This would be true if I thought her music was the greatest thing ever.

If you don't think Gaga is pretty, then you're gay!

She has a penis. Invert the genders.

She markets her image much more effectively than she does her music.

Does she?
I found her pretty with the long hair with bangs(It looks good on girls) ... She hasn't looked that pretty to me lately.
Also I liked how she looked a little awkward in her one video.

So yea, don't tell me how her marketing works left and right. I already know what her marketing strategy is.

But as I said. I'm semi-immune. I'm sure some marketing slips past us all, since we all grew up with it.

I dunno if Lady gaga is hot cos of marketing, or if its just cos I like her type. I liked her style before she came into fame.
I don't think that everyone who finds her hot is just cos of the media and whatnot. I mean.. She has boobs, and at least looks like a girl.

Anyway.. Appliances!!

Edit: Fuck.. I hate gaga-discussions.

OANST 07-28-2010 01:04 PM

Way ahead of you.

Then they give the old ones to kids or other family members, it's just a continuous cycle until you have eight year olds walking around with cell phones because their parents need the newest iPhone.

In Russia, it's the 1980's every day.

My thesis: Exchanging something technologically advanced for something that's technologically complicated is not progress.

I believe that something which is truly advanced is so out of its simplicity.

Hazel-Rah 07-30-2010 12:59 PM

i think lady gaga has a nice voice

GABBITS OWN 07-30-2010 10:22 PM

Nice voice... some of her songs are good:)

Hazel-Rah 08-01-2010 10:34 PM

yer a black truth indeed, I heard she had released an album on vinyl, I'll definitely be buying that.

Sekto Springs 08-01-2010 11:19 PM

Wanna know the best thing about old tv's?
You can stack em. Try and do that with your flat screen ass tech.

Nate 08-02-2010 12:10 AM

How many TVs do you really need in a vertical pile?

Hazel-Rah 08-02-2010 02:11 PM

Photobucket

Mac Sirloin 08-02-2010 02:28 PM

Four on the left pile, three on the right, stacked adjacent to each other and all running from the same signal.

Hazel-Rah 08-02-2010 03:18 PM

Yeah TVs stacked on top of each other, that'll look gorgeous!

Oh you know what I hate? All those new glass TV cabinets those look like such shit lol.

As many as possible. All shapes and sizes.

As many as it takes to watch all the Rocky movies simultaneously.

Sekto Springs 08-02-2010 07:27 PM

Losers have picture-in-picture. Cool people have multiple TVs.

Hazel-Rah 08-02-2010 10:56 PM

Screw TVs, people are fucking obsessed with them today, they're gaming monitors to me and nothing more (that's why I like HD so much otherwise I'd agree with you Sekto) I don't even like movies. What's really taken a nose dive in quality is audio equipment. I was looking at audio amps today in a department store and it was all fucking home theater shit, it's like people prefer sound effects to music now, today's amps are complete JUUNKK

STM 08-03-2010 08:33 AM

I only have one TV, an 80s TV, before that we had a 70s TV, old, made of wood, this'n is plastic but still, it's good reliable as was the one before this'n. Simple, easy to use, good speakers. Better 'n some plasma screens I assure you

Ridg3 08-09-2010 07:11 AM

I would never advise someone getting a plasma screen anyways, CRT's for the win!

Pilot 08-09-2010 05:38 PM

Plasma screens are expensive, HEAVY, power sucking, theoretically complicated.... and run HOT.

Oh, and their lifespan is extremely limited at elevations over about 4500 feet.

Once again, we are the sheep.

Must... HAVE....

FLAT TEEVEE! :monster:

Heavy?! Compared to a CRT?! No way, an LCD is so much lighter.

Ridg3 08-12-2010 01:26 AM

But plasma is not.

GABBITS OWN 08-12-2010 01:28 AM

But plasma is different

Ridg3 08-12-2010 02:20 AM

Because plasma is gay.

joshkrz 08-12-2010 01:05 PM

Ah fair enough I assumed you meant LCD. Yerh plasmas are crap, expecially when it comes to burn in and dark lighting.

Emesdee 08-13-2010 12:19 AM

Don't plasma TVs also require like two weeks of special image pasterns playing on the thing before you can even use it?

Hazel-Rah 08-13-2010 12:22 AM

I imagine LED TVs are the most reliable, it would only make sense, too bad they're so expensive :P

T-nex 08-20-2010 10:52 AM

I don't own a TV. I'm very happy about this to be honest. It's the most unproductive product to date. It really makes me a zombie.

Hazel-Rah 08-20-2010 08:22 PM

The only reason I have a TV is for games, otherwise I'd just go to the movies once in a while and save a ton on cable which is COMPLETE CRAP. If you're not watching cable TV you're missing nothing. But it was stupid of me to say I hate movies because nobody hates movies.

Anyway check out my vintage audio set up I put together for about $130 (most expensive thing being the headphones)
Photobucket
80's CD player and headphones, 70's receiver and speakers
Photobucket
thirty year old receiver still works and it's American MADE what a surprise
Photobucket
Oh and here's something cool about HDTVs, you can hook vintage audio equipment to it, can you do that with an 80's TV Sekto? That's a pretty potent mix my friend. You could not get this kind of set up for ANYWHERE NEAR $130 in a store, which is bad for students and broke ass motherfuckers like myself.

Yeah, I expect LED sets are going to have a GREAT service record in the field because of their low power consumption, low heat combined with the reliability of the LED.

OH MY FUCKING GOD, what a cool setup. NICE Kenwood.

I'll have to post pix of my Hi-Fi setup.
