There still is a possibility then that we could play the new Oddworld games on the PS3 by downloading them from the PSN store yes they did say the new game wouldn't be on the PS3 but does downloading from the Network mean that it is a PS3 game?

It just seems that the 360 is conspicuously absent from that list of places that the game won't be.

Well since they're not releasing physical media, I'd like to know what other alternatives they can use.

I'm praying everything will be available on Steam. I haven't had a games console since 2005 and I have no particular desire to get one now, Oddworld game or not.

Sure looks that way but like OANST mentioned it might be X-Box Live Arcade download only but like Max suggested i hope it comes out on Steam so people without an X-box 360 can enjoy the new Oddworld games.

They could easily be on Steam, as well. But you never know. If the game is coming out on Live Arcade and not coming out on PSN, then it might be the case that Microsoft wanted it as an exclusive. This is all speculation, of course.

i'm not worrying about that as i have a 360.

Crappy little games? Some of the best games this generation have been Live Arcade and PSN games. Braid? 'Splosion Man? Shadow Complex? Flower? Pixeljunk Eden? These are not crappy little games.

well, if its on arcade, its gonna be small, its not gonna be released on its own disc, and it wont have that feel to it.

It won't be released on disc. Fact. Get over your hunter-gatherer hoarding instincts and live with it, I'm afraid. I'd have felt like you a few years ago, but its impracticality and fragility has caused physical media to be blown out of the water by digital distribution, which is cheaper, faster and easier.

EDIT: Also, it's multi-platform stuff. Stewart Gilray says these things in the podcast.

I am a bit disappointed to hear that they're most likely arcade titles. We won't have anything close to the scale of Stranger's Wrath, if that's the case...

...but that doesn't mean they will be bad games. If, for example, they were doing a 2.5D Abe game (like what could have possibly been hinted at on their twitter) at a scale similar to Shadow Complex, I would be sooo freakin happy with that.

Besides, Oddworld needs to work its way back into the gaming industry. I don't think they could handle the funding for a full blown $60 retail title right now.

This is exactly right. They are going to need to prove that Oddworld is still a viable ip if they ever want to make AAA games again. Digital distribution of smaller scale games seems to be the best way to do this.

My guess is that the "multiple projects" refers to the porting of MO and SW to Steam, plus the new 2.5D game.

Does sound about right cant wait for the 2.5D game though going to be awesome to have Oddworld back.

I'm hoping it's on a platform like steam, my Xbox died on me a while back and i'm not about to buy another consol just for Oddworld.
