He could have said DFC and you'd still have searched for it.

Because you're an idiot and a walking example of every argument any kind of conservatives level at the internet.

MarsMudoken 07-15-2010 08:37 PM

I just didn't want to get 'let me google that for you' again.

Alf Shall Rise 07-15-2010 08:54 PM

I've only seen a "shadow person" once, and it was right after someone I knew passed away. Besides that, I used to sometimes catch quick glimpses of strange things, though I usually considered everything to be my imagination.

Disgruntled Intern 07-15-2010 09:11 PM

Working around death in hospice care/hospital/assisted living facilities has sort of opened my mind.

I don't believe in souls, and that seems to be what a ghost really boils down to in the end, but I do believe in an energy, a force, or whatever the fuck.

In one facility I worked we had a room that everyone claimed was haunted. Despite numerous rewirings and diagnostics, electrical items [beds included] would either short out or simply overheat and die. Things would also move around in that room, though never directly in front of you. You'd walk in, do whatever, and set something down. You'd toss a sharp or your gloves in the ajoined bathroom, and when you'd come back the item would be on the floor.

This happened with a folded blanket, a dixie cup, and a box of extra large latex gloves. The room wasn't super cold or anything, nothing hokey like that. Just a generally weird vibe to it.

A lot of nurses and CNA's had also seen what they thought was a resident darting into various rooms late at night out of the corner of their eye. Upon entering the room the residents are elevated and out like lights, or simply not capable of darting. I saw this a few times. Always on the same hall.

I [among other staff] also heard a lot of weird shit. It could have just been a group paranoia thing. Who knows. The mind plays tricks. But in a building full of years of death, I am open to the possibility of something else.

My apartment in burbank had hardwood floors and sometimes at night it sounded like someone was walking from my front door, across the living room, and into the kitchen. Then the noise would just stop. My dog would get upset. My bathroom and bedroom doors would also slam shut independently of one another when the windows were closed and without the heat or window A/C unit running.

Ghosts? I don't know. I never saw anything, but my dog would get creeped the fuck out a lot. And she's really brave and dumb. She once ran into my closet and refused to budge for about an hour.

That apartment was built in the 30's, if memory serves.

MarsMudoken 07-15-2010 09:15 PM

I agree with you. I know we have some soul-ish thing inside us, although I'm not quite sure what.

Daxter King 07-15-2010 09:19 PM

I dont think you do agree with him.

MarsMudoken 07-15-2010 09:21 PM

Yes i do.moron

Daxter King 07-15-2010 09:28 PM

How discreet of you.

MarsMudoken 07-15-2010 09:30 PM

Why thank you.

Bullet Magnet 07-16-2010 01:21 AM

Jesus, souls too, guys?

Strike Witch 07-16-2010 01:33 AM

Of course there's Souls!

Otherwise why would there have been a Soul Edge dumbarse

Oddey 07-16-2010 01:46 AM

Encounters with the paranormal? Most likely just me being paranoid. I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting a ghost quite yet. Creepy stuff, yeah every now and again, but probrably very easy to explain in a logical way, but try and tell that to someone with a big and vivid imagination when they hear a twig snap.

I had a friend who had a lot of stories to tell. Among them, ones about the paranormal. I don't really believe it yet, but all the same... I'm relatively open-minded.

Then the noise would just stop. My dog would get upset. My bathroom and bedroom doors would also slam shut independently of one another when the windows were closed and without the heat or window A/C unit running.
To this day I experience a similar phenomenon. Late at night I hear the distinct sound of somebody walking, sometimes heavily, around upstairs. For the longest time I dismissed it as the cat, but we have carpeted floors and that fluffy little lightweight is absolutely incapable of making those heavy boot steps.

Also when I was very young (and both my parents can corroborate this story), my family was accosted by a poltergeist. And I'm not talkin' shit moved a few inches or weird knocking sounds, I'm talking doors slamming/things flying off shelves/floors creaking/etc.
I slept in my parents room in the summer because they didn't have enough money to put an air conditioner in my room. The bedroom had a small, personal bathroom. One night, the light in the personal bathroom came on by itself (I don't remember why I was awake to witness this). I could hear the distinct creaking of the medicine cabinet, and the fumbling of toiletries and the like, just as if someone was in there. The gentle creaking and shuffling became violent slamming, which woke both my parents. The dog also slept in the room with us and was barking like mad. My dad, being a skeptic and electrician at the time, tried to rationalize that faulty wiring can cause the lights to come on by themselves and that the creaking was caused by heat expansion.
It was then we heard the sound of something shattering down in the kitchen. Dad sprung to his feet and grabbed a baseball bat that he kept by the bed and went to the door. The door opens outwards, and he found he couldn't get it open. After pushing with all his might he got it open just enough to see that an entire dresser, which was originally sitting several feet away from the door, had been pushed in front of it.
In the kitchen, some dishes on the counter had fallen. After inspecting all the exterior doors, dad came back and told us they were all still locked.

Alot of this is my parents' testimony, and despite them being divorced, their individual recounts are nearly identical. I, unfortunately, only have blurry fragments of that memory so I can't be 100% sure how much of its hyperbole on my parent's behalf.

MarsMudoken 07-16-2010 02:11 AM

Lucky you. The only ghost that visited me was my grandpa.

You know what the funny thing is? A couple hours after he died, my uncle Stan (who was hiking a mountian somewhere) was asleep. Thing is, he had a dream about my grandpa/his dad, and Gramps was walking in it.

I think he paid Stan a visit. He went to me next.

Bullet Magnet 07-16-2010 02:25 AM

It's not unusual to dream about someone when they die. We dream about so many people, and so many people die. Some correlation is bound to occur, and of all those dreams it is only these that we choose to remember and tell people about.

Strike Witch 07-16-2010 03:01 AM

One time we were up in the mountains in China and we heard children's laughter coming from a misted-over spot, that, when we revisited it, was revealed to be a straight drop down to the foothills.

Bullet Magnet 07-16-2010 03:11 AM

Sound travels far in the mountains.

Well played.

I once slept in the house of an old mate of mine. There were eight of us there, sitting in his attic for the night. At about two in the morning, he shitted us all out by regailing us with what he claimed werre true tales of hearing footsteps at night. And another story where doors would burst open, not slam mind you, just burst open for no apparent reason when all the windows were shut and no obvious interference which could cause sucvh things to happen.

So yeah, when he finnaly went quiet, the others were so tence it was unreal.

I just wanted to go and hide in a hole somwhere.

Scraby 07-16-2010 07:35 AM

i got few ghost encounters,my heart almost stopped when i saw a shadow of a dead guy walking up the stairs, and i could hear footsteps, but nobody was there,it was at 6.00 AM at summer, night afther the death of michael jackson.... and when i saw that,i ran out of the house, frightend,i searched everywhere but nobody was there,i was 2 hours outside, until some guests from my boss arived,i was so scared to death, and when that shadow appeared, stuff started to fall, like plastic containers, plastic cups and even something heavy fell, cant remember what.... but it was frightening, the shadow started to get bigger and bigger as it came closer and closer.....

Josh 07-16-2010 07:37 AM

6 in the morning at night? That is pretty spooky.

MeechMunchie 07-16-2010 07:50 AM

Maybe Rijeka is in Iceland.

Bullet Magnet 07-16-2010 08:14 AM

Last night I heard this mysterious howling outside my window, my curtains billowed of their own volition, and in the morning, a tree in the garden had fallen down.

OANST 07-16-2010 08:20 AM

It's amazing how many people have ghostly encounters, and yet no one has been able to bring any kind of solid evidence to the table.

No. There are no ghosts.

There are only vaginas.

PuddiinLOL :] 07-16-2010 08:28 AM

Anyone belive in aliens ?

Josh 07-16-2010 08:30 AM

Ghosts, Souls and all this other weirdy stuff I don't belive in. Aliens, maybe.

OANST 07-16-2010 08:32 AM

You're all alien to me.

Wings of Fire 07-16-2010 08:48 AM

Goddamnit Josh's is the best post in this thread.

I'm sorry. I left my ecto containment unit in my other pair of scrubs every time shit went down at work. Otherwise I'd totally bring a ghost to an internet forum.

No, I get what you mean. Shows like ghost hunters and the like irritate me. Half the posts in this thread irritate me, mine included. It makes me sound like that shrill little raisin from poltregeist. But seriously, shit happened. Maybe it was a ghost, probaby it wasn't. I don't know. Who cares. asshole.

OANST 07-16-2010 08:58 AM

We both believe in vaginas, though. Right?

Wil 07-16-2010 09:09 AM

I find ghosts, hauntings, aliens, monsters and other paranormal or Fortean issues fascinating. I don't believe in souls or alien conspiracies, but the combination of science, philosophy, psychology and sociology (without implying they aren't sciences) and just good stories and scares is very compelling. The allure of the paranormal has encouraged countless scientists, explorers and storytellers to broaden human knowledge and experience.

Ghosts don't have to literally exist for ghosts to be a worthwhile interest or experience.

Dammit, I feel the need to object to that even though I essentially agree.

PuddiinLOL :] 07-16-2010 09:34 AM

Meh .. aliens is a maybeee.

Bullet Magnet 07-16-2010 10:53 AM

It depends on the location they are claimed to be. And whether they would look out of place in Starfleet.

OANST 07-16-2010 10:57 AM

I believe in Team Edward.

STM 07-16-2010 11:01 AM

i BELIEVE IN GHOSTS AND ANGELS AND DEMONS AND GUARDIANS BUT THEN i'M CHRISTIAN BUT REALLY WEIRD SO YEAH didnt realise that was in caps...oops.

T-nex 07-16-2010 11:26 AM

I find Ghosts interesting. But I don't believe or disbelieve in them. I wont untill I see concrete evidence that they cannot exist at all, or untill I've seen one with my own eyes in a very sober state.

I really hate hoe some people brush off the slightest mysteries as supernatural. But some things leave a question though.

I saw a rat monster in my closet when I was little btw =D .... But I was a kid, and I was either dreaming it or imagining it, or maybe it's just a fake memory that found it's way into my brain. It's been following me ever since then though and I cant forget it. Maybe I need counseling.

Oh also, I would really totally love going on a ghost hunt into some terribly haunted place.
Ghost hunts are fun.

I guess I'm a skeptic with hopes of there being more than just this... I'm so unfulfilled =(

Bullet Magnet 07-16-2010 12:14 PM

I really don't understand people's desire for more than "just" this. As if this weren't enough. Seriously, if you're bored or disappointed by the universe, you're doing it wrong.
