Some cookies
Shaving cream
Shampoo
A shit load of money of money (shitload for Christms, that is)

More to come, hopefully.

Oddey 12-25-2009 06:59 AM

I feel spoiled when I say this but I got:
A video camera
Civilization 4
Boom Blox Bash Party
A completely lifeless parrot (Included in the GFLDOLMPB, check below)
The "Everything ever in one gloriously fabulous ludicrously definitive outrageously luxurious Monty Python T-shirt and Box Set"
Safebreaker
That stuff that you put over your bed, blanket and pillow
Aaaaaaaaaand... Caroline by Tim Burton.

Caroline by Tim Burton.

...
...
I don't think that says what you think it says, on two levels.

Mac Sirloin 12-25-2009 08:34 AM

District 9, UP, lots of clothes, A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore, Two Terminator: Salvation toys, one of which immediately lost an arm out of the box, leaving the other one a bunch of guns:Photobucket
Oh, and THIS,
Photobucket
That's the thing I wanted more than anything. You notice how the leg isn't attached? The joint for his hip was so stiff that the plastic just bent and tore off. God fucking damn.

I don't think that says what you think it says, on two levels.

And now you've made me morbidly curious...

You might as well tell me, because I can't seem to grasp what I think you're trying to tell me without telling me.

MA 12-25-2009 01:36 PM

i know what you mean, he did this to me about the 'lesbian cow' thing. i still don't quite get what he meant. :tard:

Jordan 12-25-2009 01:58 PM

I've had a pretty much amazing day today.

I got...

A 20 inch wide-screen monitor, which might I add is fucking gorgeous.
A few games, some for the 360, PC, PS1 and GameCube.
I got some sweets, like chocolate, popcorn and some jelly boobs.
Two stress boobs, which are hilarious to mess about with, especially when you chuck them on the floor.
Socks, boxers and Pyjamas.
And some DVDs.
OH YEAH. I also got the Stranger's Wrath soundtrack and the AO Strategy guide, purely for the fact that they are pieces of Oddworld merchandise.

So yeah, I've had a lot of fun. Only problem is deciding what to start doing tomorrow. Merry Christmas guys!

OddjobAbe 12-25-2009 01:59 PM

I had a wonderful day. My Mam made us some of her wonderful ciabatta bread with many mushrooms, onions and lots of cheese and tomato sauce.
I gave Emily some perfume and a Madness CD (which we both enjoy - "One Step Beyond" with two Prince Buster covers (the titular "One Step Beyond", and "Madness"), and she got me Zappa's "Freak Out", because my other copy I lent to someone and never got it back, and put a bit of money towards my new tenor sax. My brother, despite the fact that we don't usually buy each other anything, picked up a funny book ("100 Things to Do When You're Dead") for a couple of quid, and also another funny book ("Atheist's Bible"), so in return, I'm going to pay for an extra round at the pub tomorrow. We got my Mam a Wii, as she's been dropping hints that she wants one, and she bought us socks each, and gave champagne truffles for me and my brother to share. I received fifty pounds from a friend in Germany (I have yet to change it into pounds sterling), and so have order a little four-track pocket audio mixer from Amazon.
I'm usually very cynical and maungy about Christmas, but I'm fed up of being a miserable old bastard. As a result, I've really enjoyed myself.

Mac Sirloin 12-25-2009 02:02 PM

I fixed my Isaac Clarke thing. Now he doesn't suck.

Yay!

Anyway:
Up, District 9, Isaac Clark, the T-1 and T-700 Terminator: Salvation Toys, some Fireball whiskey, The Von Hoffman Bros. Damnest Book of Manliness, The Onion Covers 188-2008, It's a Dirty Job, A plaid shirt, some new jeans, some new black pants, some underwear, some Crocs (uhhh) some chocolate and Twenty Dollars form my Dad.

Oh, and I bought these two:
Photobucket

With a gift card I got from work. That Iron Monger toy is fucking boss. He's bulky and smashy and better than most of my Transformers.

And now you've made me morbidly curious...

You might as well tell me, because I can't seem to grasp what I think you're trying to tell me without telling me.

It's Coraline, directed by Henry Selick and based on a book by Neil Gaiman. Tim Burton didn't get his ugly mitts on it at all.

You're getting confused because the marketing for the film trumpetted the connection between Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas - which was also directed by Selick. Everyone thinks Burton directed Nightmare, but he only produced and came up with the original story.

enchilado 12-25-2009 04:37 PM

Yes. I just got the book of Nightmare, as a I said. Tim Burton doesn't have ugly mitts because he's fucking awesome.

:

The Immortals, the last book of The Edge Chronicles

Fuck. I hadn't even heard of this. And stupid fucking Wikipedia: I Googled "The Immortals edge chronicles" and in the snippet beneath the link it said "In the Immortals it is revealed that -" well, I won't say it here, but yeah. Fuck Wikipedia.

And a verry mery Christmas to those of you who are still enjoying yesterday.

Leto 12-25-2009 06:41 PM

Wrong, Tim Burton is a heinous smear of feces. Seeing the trailer for Burton+Depp+Elfman's Alice in Wonderland made me proper irl facepalm. God damn.

Holy shit, this Christmas was...Bountiful.

From my Mom, for Dorian and myself:

-A Garmin GPS shit for the car. Woo.
-A wireless printer/scanner/copier/fax. Woo again.
-A bunch of onesies for the fetus.

From Gram-Gram, for us:
-A new down comforter with an insane thread count.
-A new duvet/sham set, also with insane thread count.
-More onesies for the fetus.

For me from Mom:
-Left 4 Dead 2
-R.Crumb's 'Fritz the Cat' Vans slip-ons. Big woo on those.

For Dorian from Mom:
-Black leather cashmere lined gloves.
-Black leather boots
-A really nice parka/jacket thing.

Dorian also got me a 12 month membership tp xbox live. Her parents got us a really nice spice rack and got Dorian a shit ton of maternity clothes. I got Dorian the new Sidekick LX, as she had been rocking the sidekick danger, which is an old dated piece of shit.

I think that's all.

*ahem*

To all the people raising swords and pistols at the mere mention of Tim Burton's name...

A message from Chris:

Hes not that bad. So he's not a groundbreaking genius who makes unforgettably deep characters. Hs stuff is gorgeous, and at the very least it's damn fine fairy-tale style material. He may not generate oscar-winning, mindfucking depth in his films, but they're pretty, fun, and iconic in their own way. Who here can say, all emo hot-topic jizz aside, that they completely hate Edward Scissorhands? Does it deserve an Oscar? Who gives a fuck. It's a beautiful little fairytale with great visuals and awesome music.

I don't mean that in a Michael Bay kind of way. I'm not saying that if it's pretty and colorful it's worth seeing - example: Batman and Robin. That all 'round sucked huge walrus penor. I'm just saying that there's nothing wrong with relying on a visual element as long as it doesn't overtake the story. Edward Scissorhands could have been written as a children's book. All of Burton's movies could, and that's just fine with me. Not all directors can be Stanley Kubrick or the Cohen Brothers. And if that's the only kind of shit you like, then you are a closedminded idiot and need to stop being an elitist cockfuck.

Burton's movies are movies everyone can understand, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for reading. Have a nice day.

Leto 12-25-2009 07:03 PM

i skim read it, and i still hate tim burton (and especially johnny depp. i mean, shit, just from the trailer of the new alice all i saw was him playing jack sparrow in a 'mad hatter' outfit)

no can has approval

enchilado 12-25-2009 07:25 PM

I must admit the trailer for the Alice didn't look great. I think leaving out Johnny Depp would have been a very good idea. But he's great, and does wonderful pictures...

http://rgr-static1.tangentlabs.co.uk...-christmas.jpg

Moving on... what did you get for Christmas?

Hazel-Rah 12-25-2009 08:35 PM

From my parents I got...

Street Fighter 4
The Shadow Out Of Time radio drama
Necronomicon CD by Nox Arcana
District 9 on Blu-Ray
A blue robe
Black leather gloves
Christmas socks
Some candy

My brother got me this really nice painting of two dutch rabbits in a stable that came with this really heavy frame.

I get a lot of stuff on Christmas because I have such a big family, which means i have to buy a lot of gifts though lol, i still haven't even seen all my siblings for Christmas.

enchilado 12-25-2009 08:40 PM

I've NEVER seen all my siblings for Christmas! Indeed, I've never seen all my siblings at once before.

Nate 12-25-2009 10:34 PM

Complicated family tree, eh? How many of your siblings are halves and steps?

enchilado 12-25-2009 10:50 PM

No steps, but some halfs.

Let me see... ah, yes, five of them.

Sekto Springs 12-25-2009 10:51 PM

A didgeridoo and a panflute to start. I can get the latter to make noise, the former not so much.
A 41-key midi controller keyboard (which has a lengthy and needlessly complicated driver-installation process).
Some travel speakers for my P.O.S. laptop.
An AE wallprint, the unofficial "Swimming Abe" one. I'm impressed by the quality of the print, but I wish they had mounted it on foam card or something. I'm going to be getting that done at a print shop on my own dime within the next few days.
Lots of nice clothes, all of which fit surprisingly well considering my parents are in love with the idea that I'm a size smaller than I actually am and tend to buy clothes that are far too tight.
A couple of movies I asked for.

A copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum for PS3. So far the game is fun but the controls bug the crap out of me, and I find myself returning to the configuration menu often to tweak the inverts and sensitivities over and over. Also not too impressed with the score, but that could simply be becase I'm so used to Batman having such good music (not counting Zimmer's piss-poor scoring for BB/TDK of course).

A copy of The Suffering (have only played rented), complete with a new cover my friend drew specifically to make me laugh. It features Torque drawn in crayon by what you would think was a three year old. The title was written in cutesy kids letters with some of them being backwards. The back half of the cover featured one of the monsters apparently frolicking in a field of flowers and poorly-drawn rainbows. My friend Greg did all this for me, and I must say I lol'd pretty damn hard when I tore into the wrapping paper and saw that perfectly round, crayon rendition of Torque staring back at me. I'll be sure to scan it if anyone's interested, I bet MA will be.

enchilado 12-25-2009 10:58 PM

I'm interested.

And if the Swimming Abe posted is good I may get it; provided I can find room on the walls :P

Sekto Springs 12-25-2009 11:06 PM

The quality is damned good. They manage to squeeze around pixel distortion via gentle use of a softening filter. If you hold your nose to it, naturally you're going to see the flaws, but it looks damned fine from even a foot away. It's printed on some seriously flimsy gloss paper though, so I would get it poster sprayed and stuck to something stiffer before you mount it.

I did not post on Christmas, what with family and all, but I got:

- A new camera
- This Mitchell and Book
- A couple of Steam games
- A t-shirt with Che Guevara on it
- A cardigan (!)
- Scattergories
- QI annual

and various others - if you only ask for a few things you're bound to get a lot of random stuff.

Phylum 12-26-2009 10:12 PM

I got Metal Gear solid 4. Really, really fun. I've never played many stealth games (this, AO and AE) and love the way it flows.

I gave my mum a china dog with very detailed genitals. Its arse-hole wasn't that shabby, either.

T-nex 12-27-2009 07:19 AM

Hi people.. Finally decided to post here a bit.

I got lotsa girly stuff from various of Chris's family members, and I got some money from my dad.
I also got some fun clothes and the super awesome DOOM (nerdy) Boardgame which I've been wanting for a while. Yey.

Nate 12-27-2009 03:33 PM

Wait... Doom, as in the computer game, has been turned in to a board game?

Wings of Fire 12-27-2009 04:40 PM

I got £60 and sweeties from my nana, so I now have £100 to do whatever I want with =D I never knew the value of money I don't need till I needed approx 95% of the money I was given.

To take from the book of Josh...

I want it now, also.

I forgot to mention my $70 in gift cards, and 3 movie tickets. I'm going to see Avatar soon!

It has been a board game for a while now.. Dunno how long though.

I had this friend who has a lot of nerdy boardgames like that. They are quite fun. Arkham Horror is another board game I'd like at some point. Apparently it's themed around HP Lovecraft's stories. Yey for nerdy stuff.

~Oprilthevykker~ 12-30-2009 08:31 PM

Let's see.. I got myself an old Xbox system with
Munch's oddysee, stranger's wrath and Xtreme beach vollyball.

A hard candy case that's in the shape of a super star off the mario
games, and the new super mario brother's on wii. I'm hoping when
I get payed at the first of the month I can get abes oddysee and abes exoddus.
