Electrical Generation? Wasn't that the generation that followed shortly after Edison's invention of the lightbulb?

I would hardly classify the modern generation by "electricity" as I would by the internet or the invention of the fucking iPod. I think the Nuclear generation is officially considered to be behind us now. Much to Apple's chagrin, they pretty much own this generation and the next few to come.

'Generation' in this case defined as the act of producing electricity. Do I have to change the thread name again to avoid confusing dumbarses? I guess so.

One of my teachers at school always told us that the modern age would be remembered in the history books as 'The Plastic Age' before anything else. How lame would it be to tell our grandchildren 'We lived in the Plastic Generation!'?

Well, seeing as your grandchildren will be asking "Grandpa Joe, what is this plastic thing I keep hearing about? Is that, like, related to that crude oil that ran out decades ago?", you may be right.

Wings of Fire 12-15-2009 04:45 PM

I saw the threads title as a pun.

Also I was innuendoing.

MarsMudoken 12-15-2009 04:51 PM

You're creeping me out.

MA 12-15-2009 04:54 PM

what did that contribute? tell me, please. by your standards everyone freaks you out. whoopifuckingdoo.

poor attempt at OT: and i have never like the idea of Nuclear power stations, i am not sure why. i would have a better point if i could be arsed right now.

MarsMudoken 12-15-2009 05:08 PM

...yep, people hate me again. Like the rest of the world, oddworld forums joins em'. I don't ever expect anyone to like me, people just hate me. That's why I lose friends, and my brother wants me dead. Figures. This isn't self-pity. This is fact. So don't freakin' give me an infraction Nate. That's all you know how to do, and I hate you for it. Die in a fire.

MA 12-15-2009 05:14 PM

wow, great way to get in his good books. he's been here since you were about 5, pretty sure he knows his stuff.

and there you are, playing the tiny violin again, preaching about how everyone hates you. read the rules, you must remember this isn't a chat room or a massive forum where you can get away with repetitive spam. you get reprimanded one way or another for breaking rules incessantly. there is a reason, and there is no hate. how many times must you be told.

You are too wallowing in self pity. The world does not hate you. people here don't hate you(it least it don't). Look man, if you want to be liked, try showing some maturity.

MarsMudoken 12-15-2009 05:23 PM

...he says too the 12 year old...

Wings of Fire 12-15-2009 05:28 PM

Don't use your age as an excuse, if you honestly believe you're too immature to handle this place then leave and come back after you've grown up a little. The forum doesn't hold grudges.

mr.odd 12-15-2009 05:28 PM

See, there you go again. It's not about age, it's about maturity. In other words, don't just post pointless spam and actually think about the topic of a thread and a well thought out post contributing to the conversation.

MarsMudoken 12-15-2009 05:29 PM

I'll stick to the RPG then.

Sayonara! (douches)

MA 12-15-2009 05:33 PM

no no no, its not up for discussion, Mars. you have been told clearly and comprehensibly in this thread and many others what you are doing wrong, including direct explanations from Nate, Splat, me and many others, and they're just the ones i've seen.

i'm not saying anything more on the matter. people have been pretty patient with you, but you wont take the hint, not even a direct hint, if its still even a hint by then. honestly, follow the rules, its for your own benefit.

and if you feel like responding to this with more spam: enjoy your infraction.

EDIT: he left for RPG. ironically that's where he gets the most grief for spam.

Nate 12-15-2009 05:38 PM

As others have said, no-one here hates you. You have received criticism, yes, but that is because your posting style is lacking in many areas. Criticism is not hate; you should take it as a suggestion for how to improve. If you want to be 'liked', then it is really quite simple to do.

Many of our existing member joined when they were 12. Youth is no excuse for misbehaviour.

AND that is the last that will be said on this issue. The following posts must be on the topic of generating electricity.

Sekto Springs 12-15-2009 07:40 PM

Nate, you really need to learn when I'm taking the piss. Lordy.

If only that were true. Still not an excuse for Mars's bs, though.

Nuclear power is a good idea, but risky in the long run. It's the tunnel at the end of the light.

If you would like to know more about nuclear energy, press the red button.

OANST 12-16-2009 12:30 PM

The negrep button? Okay.

shaman 12-16-2009 12:32 PM

Meh, i earned it.

Mac Sirloin 12-16-2009 12:42 PM

Sanguine electric dams stored on the human body that charge energy cells for everything.

Eh? Eh?

shaman 12-16-2009 12:49 PM

Eh?

Also, i heard that a while back there were plans to biuld a dam across the Severn Estuary. They say it would genereate 7% of the uk's energy. Unfortunate that it is in a pretty fucking rich habitat. I have mixed feelings on this.

Havoc 12-16-2009 12:55 PM

I believe there is also a project to use the tides of the sea to generate electricity. Apparently you can generate energy by mixing salt and sweet water somehow and they are implementing this technology in New York. I'll leave it to someone else to dig up the wiki article on this, as I'm not in the mood to look for it right now.

~Oprilthevykker~ 12-16-2009 02:25 PM

I'd rub my nude butt on the carpet until I generated enough electro matter
to power the planet!.. Though I'd have wicked bad rug burn.

Nate 12-16-2009 02:26 PM

I'm afraid the emissions from your butt might harm the planet even more than fossil fuels.

~Oprilthevykker~ 12-16-2009 02:31 PM

LMFAO!

Tushay.

You fail at french.

Havoc 12-16-2009 03:26 PM

'Fail' is an understatement.

enchilado 12-16-2009 06:04 PM

He can't fail at French, he doesn't even qualify for the test.

Third generation?

Third generation!

You should be glad AiN; you know they're going to be better than the first or second generation designs.

Hydro is a good option if the dams already exist; building new dams is incredibly costly and terrible for the environment.

In Italy we've got many dams and so many hydroelectric power plants (and many windpower plants) but we haven't got a self-sufficiency, so we must buy electric energy from Freance for example, wich's got some nuclear power plants. I must say we need new plants, but I am afraid of them... I am afraid of radioactive waste!

MeechMunchie 12-17-2009 08:59 AM

I really think tidal power could be the way forwards. This video I found useful.

Havoc 12-17-2009 09:14 AM

Damn, that's some creative shit. I would have never thought of something like that XD.

Bullet Magnet 12-17-2009 12:08 PM

You know, radiation isn't manufactured by nuclear power plants. Radioactive material is mined out of the ground, which is also a good place to put it back when we're done. Radiation is much more scary for the general public than coal dust, sulphur dioxide and carbon dioxide because it seems so alien to us, people don't understand it, this strange invisible power that harms us in mysterious ways. But we are all oddly silent about the thousands of deaths and respiratory illnesses caused by, as I said, coal dust, and all the other wastes and pollutants of traditional power generation. Nuclear plants only go up like one near Chernobyl when a great many things go wrong at once, including the fail-safes for each of those, each event of which is itself highly unlikely of occurring. And when they do, they don't alter the environment the way other means of power generation do when they are routinely operating. The town of Pripyat, within the Zone of Alienation and constructed to house the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant's workers, has become an incredible wildlife hot zone since its evacuation, in which even rare and endangered species are common. The mere presence of humanity, it seems, is much less environmentally damaging than dangerous levels of radiation.

I think you meant to say 'more'.

Yes. I actually read the whole thing!

Bullet Magnet 12-17-2009 12:29 PM

Oh friggidy frig frig frig. Yes, thankee Matt.

Mac Sirloin 12-17-2009 01:00 PM

RADIATION IS LIKE INVISIBLE FIRE THAT GIVES YOU CANCER

NO NUCLEAR

EVIL

Havoc 12-18-2009 04:34 AM

I still want to go to that town near Chernobyl sometime. You can take a tour there and see the abandoned town and stuff. Heavy shit.

abe619 12-22-2009 06:42 AM

electricity is one of the gates to evolution without pollution......if used correctly

abe is now! 12-22-2009 07:03 AM

This is trino's Nuclear Power Plant area, one of the four italian plants.
http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/2139/p8030017.th.jpg

What makes me get angry is that the plant is encircled by fields and vegetation!

Havoc 12-22-2009 07:43 AM

As opposed to building in the middle of a 10 square mile residential block?

As opposed to building in the middle of a 10 square mile residential block?

There are a lot of small towns that encircle that plant, they are scattered in that land. So, it's the same thing.

Bullet Magnet 12-22-2009 12:38 PM

What would you rather it be surrounded by? Groundless space? Toxic wasteland? Virgin forest? Just what sort of environments are available anywhere that might be a suitable alternative? And why are you not up in arms against the far more damaging coal-burning plants that exist in all of the places you'd hate nuclear plant to be?
