I always thought that even though Exoddus was a bonus game, it was still 'canon' so to speak...like some kind of odd expansion pack thing for Oddsyee.
|
That is correct. What is your point?
|
Wow this got off topic then on topic then off topic ... sorry, Mars here.
Now to answer everything like a pompus A-hole: 1. I can understand people not counting SW (Stranger's Wrath to you n00bs out there) as an Oddworld game. My own father said it wasn't Oddworld because it was too different. Or something...point is this is west Mudos so it does count. And no one said anything about the quintology so all you people saying this should be called Oddworld 5 are right. You guys FTW. 2. Hand of Odd showed in a trailer a slig moving up ladders and starting a siren. They also showed the infamous slig toss. Point is is that if you can just click to do something you can just zoom in the camera and it'll feel like MO! Or maybe they'll do it Lego Rock Raiders style where you can switch to a unit's first-person view!? Just thinking... 3. Explain to me why were talking of fable and oblivion? Wait I just spoke about Rock Raiders...um...aawwwwkkkwaaarrrrddd. 4. OddJobAbe we meet again...well I'm twelve so I WILL live to see the next Oddness!!! And so will you guys! Didn't Lorne say something about TV shows and movies around 2015? All we have to do is do what we've been doing for years: know that movies are fake and can't happen. 2012, bring it on. |

The next game, in theory, should be Munch's Exoddus for two reasons.
1. OWI promised in the instruction manual of AE that every game in the Quintology would be accompanied by one OR MORE bonus games. MO does not yet have a bonus game, so ME should be coming soon. 2. Mullock has been found. I know this seems a bit random but that pretty much sets the tone for the next part of the adventure. Mullock is sure to want to getrevenge on Abe ASAP, so it is most likely that it will happen in the next game. That's just the felling that I, along with 3 other Oddworld enthusiasts whom I know, have about this situation. |
The next game should be something that will be successful and will draw in a new audience to Oddworld. That probably won't be a sequel or anything to do with the quintology.
Given what Lorne has said about the future of gaming being community-based and involving interaction between people and societies, I have my doubts that the quintology will ever be completed in game form. I see the films as being much more likely. |
i dont know because really i enjoyed the whole 2d effect it brought and i would actualy like to see another 2D version it was just so appealing but with everything updating like graphics and everything i think people that played the originals would like it. I didnt think that the 3D in munches was a very good idea i think it just makes the point of abe being on a ledge pointless...
|
Ah, but how cool will the Shrykull be in 3D, ey?
Also, while I'm on the topic of the Shrykull, why were Abe's hand scars the ones for Paramonia and Scrabania in AO and Mudomo and Mudanchee in AE, but then both changed to the Mudanchee scars in MO? Does anyone know cause I'm just a bit curious. |
You mean he has the same scar on both hands in MO? Honestly I never checked.
|
Acording to my friend nothing can be 2D (but i wont get into it) Shrykull is 3D but i know what you mean like imagine it with fully upgraded graphics it would be awsome
|
Probably something like that:

The Impression I got from Hand of Odd was that, being run on A.L.I.V.E² and the Munch engine, it would be played in a similar fashion to the RTS elements from Giants: Citizen Kabuto and Brutal Legend, in that you play as the "general" on the ground.

I want to take this opportunity to tell you how much I love CRAZY Oddworld. It's fucking hilarious.
As to Oddworld 4, it's already made... or there's another game to come before it. If you mean ALL Oddworld games, it's SW. If you mean Quintology games, MO is the second, and SO will be the third, and NO the fourth (assuming they are Squeek's and Nod's Oddysees). However... I doubt they will ever be made. Didn't Lorne say in that interview where he mentioned the Oddbox that what they were working on was online and social-based? So if they make another game, it could be that. ~the dancing Scrab in the first one was da best, mate. Enchilado |

I really wonder what's coming up next. |
:
|
We at Fanwkerz where gonna have a go at hand of off RTS but our heads sploded so for the time beings its sitting out.
|
What made them asplode, design/graphics/coding?
|
DOH! My bad! The artwork on the GBA box is flipped, so it looks like he has two Mudanchee Scars... oops!
|
oh, a Prince Of Odd! i'd love to see a prince of persia game with oddworld characters:p
|
woahs quite late, but
:
i think what you're trying to say is that you liked fable more than you liked oblivion, lol |

A book release would be nice, but I don't there's really enough story from the games themselves to make good books out of them. Maybe as a graphic novel. I would love an OW graphic novel. Even if books were made, they would probably only be popular within the fanbase, much like Starwars and Star Trek novels. |
Just referring back to the conversation about the Shrykull in 3D, possibly even in Munch's Exoddus, there is concept art from Munch's Oddysee on TOGG that looks like the Shrykull.
Here it is... |
The Electric dose but i don't see the Shrykull at all.
|
ANY Oddworld game being released would be a small miracle by itself...if said game was any GOOD, i would consider that a bonus...
|

Steering off-topic a bit, but Munch's Oddysee was quite a let down. Great characters, environments etc but it felt like a average platformer with gamespeak at times. Maybe I was led on by a lot of the awesome concept art and beta videos. It could have been so much more. It just felt a bit rushed. I just hope that the next Oddworld is something more than (insert game genre here) with Oddworld characters. |

The Electric dose but I don't see the Shrykull 1. Maybe they considered changing the soul rings into auras around Abe for the 3D games and that's why you can't see anything in the sphere. 2. What's "Electric Dose"? |
He means "The electricity [in that image] does [look like that given off by Shrykull]".

When Munch's Exoddus comes around, Sam (the Mudokon Queen) is sure to play a pivotal role in its storyline. At least, that's my suspicion, as in the Perfect Quarma ending of AE the Weirdos say "and don't worry about finding you're long lost Mudokon mother, you'll have to meet up with Munch before you can do anything about that" (or words to that same degree).
|
That was the assumption back when Sam ended up not being in MO and ME was, as far as we knew, the next game to emerge from OWI. Then SW came along, and LL ruled out a return to the Quintology before a marked improvement in gaming technology. I think the first we'll see Sam is an MO feature film.
|
Or in a senility-induced hallucination on our deathbed.
|
Or and I hope tihsis wrong but Oddworld isn't going to make another game...sorry to be blunt but we thought citizen siege and an oddworld moviea nd wage wars and fangus klot where coming out and they didn't.
We can only live in hope I guess. |
Let's not be too pessimistic, now...
To quote Alf, "Odd works in mysterious ways!" |
I'd be happy to see any Oddworld-based game... To be honest. Shooter? RPG? Whatever, it would just be fun to play in that environment again.
|
I would like Hand of odd or any RPG, I think it would both be sweet. I just want a oddworld game dangit!
|
We all want a new OW game. It's not gonna happen any time soon though
|
I miss the days when people didn't moan about there not being a new Oddworld game.
|
I also miss the nineties.
