It make more sense than a moon coming out of nowhere.
You are forgetting one thing josh... this is oddworld.:)
the moon didn't 'come out of nowhere'. it was always there. the print was not.
In that case, does the Mudokon moon indicate Abe is the chosen one, or that Mudokons are the chosen race? If each hero gets his own moon, then it stands to reason that the moon is for that individual and not the whole mess of 'em. This makes sense in Munch's case, since he's the last fucking Gabbit alive.
Personally, I'd prefer a big moon that just said "Abe rulz" on it's face. Would make more sense at any rate. |

It could just be like Lord of the Rings, where the only way to succeed against evil (Mordor) is to unite all the races together and form peace... so each race is important (Elves/Dwarves, Men/Elves, etc).
An easy one is that Elum is backwards for Mule =D
I can't work out whether the use of "Easter egg" in this thread is more or less bastardized than vBulletin's use of "infraction".
Hey, here's an Easter egg: Abe is a Mudokon! Mudokons are slaves! |
I had always assumed an Easter Egg was an in-joke hidden in the game, which will make someone smile. The Paramite Pie's reference in Strangers Wrath, even the "Vykkers Labs: Coming Soon" in Abe's Exoddus. That could only have been put there for us fans to notice upon replaying Abe's Exoddus after Munch's release.
One of the key things here is hidden, and another key thing is in-joke (or, more accurately, something the relevance of which is known only to the creator and a small number of other people). The Paramite Pie reference could arguably meet the first requirement, since there's presumably only one place in the game it's said, and the chances of hearing it... by chance... are slim. However, it's not an in-joke, it's a continuity reference than anyone familiar with Oddworld would get. Same applies to the hint flies and SoulStorm Brew bottles in MO, except they're not even hidden.
Now I took the topic of this thread to be inclusive of these continuity references. It is not inclusive of "Elum is Mule backwards," which is all I was really reacting to. The face in AE is a brilliant Easter egg. No one here has been able to determine its real significance to the artist of that background, and it's so well hidden that it was only discovered a decade after the game's release. |
:
Also if Abe is the chosen one, why did his moon appear so many years ahead of schedule? If it weren't for that damn moon, Glukkons and Mudokons would probably still have a good rapport. |
Not to mention that they would have to look past the industrial smog, which was probably there all the time.
"The face in AE is a brilliant Easter egg. No one here has been able to determine its real significance to the artist of that background, and it's so well hidden that it was only discovered a decade after the game's release." - What face would that be? |

That is creepy.
Points
:
2. You spelt report wrong.:D 3. The moon does not have a brain so it wouldn't know anything about a schedule. |
2. No, you spelled 'rapport' wrong.
:
Anyway I don't think MO had many easter eggs anyway! And plus the gamespeak feature doesn't work on my xbox 360 so I can't be asked to look for any. |
Rapport is a word, it means a shared view or 'being on the same wavelength'. Stop trying to correct people, too. It's really annoying. I have to put up with people misspelling words too, but I don't see the point of trying to correct them when it doesn't really contribute anything important.
I love the boarded up door foor RuptureFarms in AE. It made me chuckle. The moon may not 'know' about a schedule, but we're talking about the mystical alignments of fate here. EDIT: Oh, Nate posted while I was typing. |

Well it wasn't a funny joke.
:
For the last time, YES!
I might play SW to find some more easter eggs if there are any more.
PS Why are they called easter eggs? |
Because they are hidden prizes.

That face on the barrel...
Kool-Aid guy? |
I think some of us need a little more perspective...smokers walking on their hands control Oddworld, creepy psychic men are their slaves, the seas are infested with talking frogs and the sky is filled with flying pharmacies, and you're getting worked up because the moon has a funny shape on it??? Lol your minds work in odd ways...:P
This is odd.
Of course...silly me :P
A subtle reference...
Stranger's Wrath had minecarts. Abe's Exoddus has minecars. I think one inspired the other :D |
Stranger's Wrath had bats. Abe's Oddysee had bats. I think one inspired the other.
Cairns Tropical Zoo has bats. Australian undertones, anyone?
Bats live near me. Wait, what's this tiny camera doing in the corner here?
I don't know but it's been my best friend since I hit puberty.
