The only way this could work is if it had different characters.
Different voice actors playing the same role is really awkward at the best of times, at other times... it's really annoying. |
What about the tens of actors who have played Bugs Bunny, or Kermit the Frog?
If the voice actor is good enough, you won't notice the difference. |
Is there anyone who can't mimic those voices? No one can mimic the greatness of John Dimaggio, Katey Sagal, Billy West, and Tress MacNeille. Tress MacNeille is especially recognizable and the characters voiced by Billy West could only be those characters with his voice.
Ugh. Family Guy got to keep its voice actors (who by no means are of equal caliber, except Lois.). Why can't Futurama? |
jesus was i like Abelover444 when i first joined? If i was I'm so... SO sorry everyone.
|
No, not at all. You're still like him.
:tard: |
The new voice actors will be shit. The originals had... ACTING TALENT!!!
I'm not like him. was but not any more. |
Pretty dern close, I'll tell you what.

BOBBY YEW GOT PROPANE IN MY URETHRA
|
:
|
"Bobby you"
|
What are you trying to say? That he was doing an internet schtick by spelling it wrong? If so, I got that. If not....what are you trying to say?
|
I thought you were asking if "Yew" was Bobby's last name.
|
Yeah, I was being silly.
|
Jesus christ, this thread is like an abortion gone wrong and raised by a family of mentally deficient people.
In the deep south. |
Where's Jesus? I don't see him.

I agree though, Sir Gabriel. No one can immitate Billy West or John Dimaggio, and to Nate - who do you think it was they hired to immitate Bugs Bunny in the modern films? None other than Billy West himself. To hire an immitator of an immitator is just sad. This is like Ren and Stimpy: Adult Party all over again. |
dont talk about Ren & Stimpy: Adult Party. its shit and i want to pretend it was never made.
i die a little inside every time i say that. |

|
there was one lol in Adult Party, and that was Dr. Mr. Horse.

I miss Powdered Toast Man. |

Damn. I retract my previous statement and point an accusing finger at West himself, when interviewed on Get This (Triple M, 2007) and bitched about doing Bug's voice. If I may backpedal slightly, he may have been referring specifically to the stresses of doing a famous voice in a big-budget movie like Space Jam, rather than direct-to-video stuff.

Voice acting is a pressing job, but its also incredibly fun. If I was in their shoes, I'd be thrilled to take on the task of acting for a show so well-written and genuinely funny. It would certainly be a nice counterbalance to acting for all of that awful, flash-animated children's fare that make up most of their income. |
I really need to watch Ren and Stimpy... Can't believe I didn't see it.
For anyone who likes british comedy, I recommend Red Dwarf. I've got a box-set of the entire series 1-8 and I love it. |

And Western animation boobies. Don't forget those.

I like my boobies well done, the way ol' Mama Gainax used ter make 'em.

Ha! I figured that it was probably a bluff from Fox. They threatened the same thing to the cast of The Simpsons a few years back.
|
I didn't think Fox would really be that stupid. And Phil LaMarr's pretty well-known, damnit. Anyway, I'm glad. :)
|
Phil LaMarr, along with Lauren Tom, Frank Welker and David Herman have yet to be signed on. So far it’s only Katey Sagal, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeill, Billy West and John DiMaggio. The former lot only begin their negotiations now that the main five cast members are settled. But I’m hopeful.
|
Good old Phil LaMarr. I'm still holding out hope for the Samurai Jack movie.
|
So it isn't dead?
|
Frederator Films has announced that they are going to make it with Tartakovsky, but, well, you know..... The best laid plans and all that.
|
I wouldn't get your hopes up. Tartakovski is notorious for starting projects he doesn't finish. However, since SJ is his own baby I imagine he would be more dedicated to the final product. In short, a Samurai Jack movie is more likely to be completed than The Neverhood movie.
