Pride is considered to be the worst sin, as its commonly believed that all other sins stem from pride (you must think yourself better than someone else to be envious, you must think yourself great enough to commit greed, and so on).

If we're being really technical Sloth, in the context of the Deadly Sins, is not laziness. Specifically, its "spiritual apathy" or defying god's will. You could extend this by saying that god wishes us to do something with our lives and thus was commit sloth by wasting away. But its original meaning was intended for people who shirk their religiously dictated responsibilities.
