Brave and the Bold is pretty badass. I was surprised because I wasn't taken with the animation/art style at all in the promos. Caught a few episodes one day and loved it (especially considering how crap "The Batman" was). Still have trouble hearing Diedrich Bader as Batman, though, partially because I'm used to Kevin Conroy and partially because I keep hearing him as The Drew Carey Show's Oswald pretending to be Batman.

how many batmans are there? also I agree with Oddsville, Seinfield is a good show :D

There's only one Batman, but DC's Universe is full of 50 billion alternate universes and there's usually a different Batman for each one.

If you meant Batman shows, there have been at least 9 including multi-superhero shows. 10 if you count "Birds of Prey" (but don't).

They did DC Apes? Just for that episode, or is there a comic book series a la Marvel Apes?

I don't know if it was a series or just a singular comic, but DC had "DC Goes APE!". At least, I saw some scans of it on superdickery.com

Crashpunk 05-30-2009 01:02 AM

Big brother...*Shivers* worst. show. ever.

OddjobAbe 05-30-2009 01:07 AM

It's the kind of stuff that makes you want to castrate yourself.

Fuzzle King 05-30-2009 01:22 AM

Whoever thought of big brother in the first place should be tied up and shot. Its painful to watch. Even worse another series starts next thursday.
I hate reality shows like that, and also all the shit like x-factor. The only good part of that show is watching all the retards get turned down at the auditioning stages.

Britains got talent aint too bad i guess.

I was with you till your praised Britain's got Talent.

OddjobAbe 05-30-2009 04:09 AM

Exactly. It's just a shit freak show.

Fuzzle King 05-30-2009 07:55 AM

Im not praising it, i think its a little less painful to watch than the others. Its not one of my programmes of choice though. I've only seen little parts of it due to other members of my family liking it. Theres too many shitty talent seeking shows.Put something good on for a change.

bobtheguy 05-30-2009 08:00 AM

I'd also have to say I also like Family Guy, and Southpark... sometimes. By the way I hate the Simpsons, it's crappy and horrible at making people laugh.

Mars.

No, seriously, that's what I've been led to believe by the comic/Batman communities I've followed. It could well be wrong, though.

OddjobAbe 05-30-2009 09:19 AM

His Battle of Stalingrad chat-up line was hilarious, wasn't it? Loved the one where Jeremy became a sperm donor and kept going on about "not being the type like these other men" to the woman a reception.

Post-Crisis there is only one Batman.

And he isn't even Goddamn.

Havoc 05-30-2009 05:21 PM

Anyone here watch How I Met Your Mother? If you don't, you should, for it is hilarious.

Fuck anything Frank Miller did about Batman that isn't The Dark Knight Returns or Year One. The guy took a shit-turn after 300. Possibly before.

Wings of Fire 05-31-2009 06:54 PM

To be honest I actually tire of Year One, I'd even go so far as to say that the new Dark Knight films are better.

Fuck anything after The Dark Knight Returns.

Bullet Magnet 05-31-2009 11:02 PM

Your code is indecipherable to me.

Just finished G Gundam and I thought it was absolutely brilliant, apart from the stark nationalism, by far one of the best shonen I've seen.

Now I need suggestions for a new anime to fill my drive for stories, negrep to all replies containing some variation of 'Anime sucks' and posrep to any clever symbolic intriguing animes given.

One Piece or Bobobo-bobo-bobobobo

Wings of Fire 06-05-2009 04:25 PM

One Piece is now on the list, I did however just find out about an anime called Serial Experiments Lain. Which seems to be exactly what I'm looking for.

ArtemisPanthar 06-05-2009 04:40 PM

Annie May sux

Heh, I was going to recommend Serial Experiments: Lain, actually! Its really very good. I don't watch too much anime these days, however FLCL will always be awesome.

(if you're looking for something not anime but still Japanese, try to find the Japanese drama Trick. Its awesome)

Strike Witch 06-05-2009 05:01 PM

Gundam 00 if you like serious, Lucky Star if you like comedy and irreverence, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Zeta Gundam, Code Geass, World Destruction, Strike Witches, Blue Drop, Ghost In The Shell, Sky Girls, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds, Night Wizard, Sengoku Basara, Zettai Karen Children, Full Metal Panic!, Slayers, Basquatch!....

Slog Bait 06-05-2009 05:20 PM

I liked watching Kablam! at 4 in the morning when I was in preschool, as well as Ah! Real Monsters and Rocko's Modern Life, which usually followed it up. :)

The only anime's I actually thought were pretty good were Deathnote and FLCL; though Full Metal Alchemist was decent it just doesn't top.

I don't watch anime because it's Japanese, I watch anime because I prefer stylistic art to live action, but western producers have a habit of treating all animation watchers like pre school children and so I am forced to whet my appetite by watching the Eastern varient, which prefers long story arcs, better music and starker characterization.

Anime is merely a medium through which I quench my desire for high quality stories, the quality is solely down to the production studio and writers involved, not just because it's anime.

I will now link back to this post everytime someone tells me that anime sucks.

used:) 06-05-2009 05:24 PM

I saw part of Ghost in the Shell. It was boring as hell as a movie, it's boring as hell as a series.

TOKYO GODUFASERS. I hear the rest of Satoshi Kon's work is quite brilliant as well. Paranoia Agent is one of my all-time favorite animes. I think you'd enjoy it, Joe.

I apologize, I didn't mean to imply that at all. I agree with you 100% and I constantly hope Western animation will take a page from Eastern animation, storywise and such and not just assume that copying anime "style" is enough.

I spoke incorrectly. Rather, what I should've said "something not anime but anime-like", as that's really what I meant. The show always stuck me as one that could very easily be a good anime.

In anycase, I apologize for the comment.

Wings of Fire 06-05-2009 05:46 PM

No worries :p I've been waiting for an excuse to get that out of my system for weeks.

Strike Witch 06-05-2009 06:29 PM

OddjobAbe 06-06-2009 12:58 AM

Before I went away, I tried to watch Martin and Candy in "Planes, Trains and Automobiles". I instead ended up watching the ever so shit "Britain's Got Talent" when Emily switched over. I could have and should have killed her. Very seldom is something decent on, and when there actually is, I still end up watching shit. At least tomorrow I get to show my nephew Sooty and Sweep again. It may be a kids' show, but at least it wasn't a shit kids' show. Or a naff "talent" (freak) show.
