I think the biggest thing about Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum I didn't like was the fact that I got through the base plot (beat the shit out of the poke'mon league) with a team of poke'mon that hadn't even reached level 50. Usually, I have to train my poke'mon to at least level 50 before they even stand a chance at the poke'mon league.

Wings of Fire 06-05-2009 08:33 AM

Actually Gold and Silver was the worst for that, but Kanto made up for it.

Also this was fixed in Platinum, in the final fight your rival is as strong as Red in G/S/C.

Jordan 06-05-2009 09:18 AM

The E4 in G/S/C was so pathetically easy. Lol @ Lance's Dragonite going from level 62 in R/B/Y to level 50. Kanto's gym leaders sucked too. There was one of them with Pokemon in their level 30s... Come on.

I hope this is all fix'd in HGSS.

This is kinda random, but has anyone else done that thing in fire red were after you beat the game you go off to some Island were... I forgot the name of her but anyway that water pokemon elite four person is like there being robbed or something..... and then something happens and then i forgot, but has anyone done that before?

Wings of Fire 06-05-2009 09:31 AM

As I've said, they've finally fixed the underpowered gym leader/rival problem in Platinum so I hope they transfer the best of the new into the old.

I would also like a fight with Red where he has all level 100s, the fact that he has a level 85 in G2 is rather circumvented by the fact it's a PIKACHU -_-.

Yeah, I think everyone who's beaten the Elite Four has done that...

I know right? Should've saved the 85 for something else. Why Pikachu anyway, and not Raichu? I could understand if it was Yellow you were fighting.

The only thing I really rember from ruby is when you have to look up brail to find those pokemon. There's 3 of them. A steel, A rock and an ice I think.

bobtheguy 06-05-2009 01:28 PM

oh yeah I remember that... I never got past that because I was too lazy to look up brail :D

Wings of Fire 06-05-2009 02:49 PM

You need a Relicanth and a Wailord and you need to use some HMs on rocks. Personally I liked my Wailord better than Regirock, -ice or -steel.

moxco 06-06-2009 02:48 AM

That's it, regirock. I kept getting him confused with ragnarok.

UnknownSlig 06-09-2009 02:34 PM

I'll end up getting both, childhood be damned!

If I had a level 100 Pika'chu I wouldn't feel gimped. Give that Poke a Light Ball and you're looking at a rather formidable sweeper.

Red/Blue/Yellow - The originals that set it all up. I have many child hood memories playing these games.

Gold/Silver/Crystal- The ability to breed was pretty awesome aswell as Poke'mon holding items.

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald- These brought Poke'mon back into my life. I have many fond memories playing this one. The new Poke'mon abilities brought much more customization into a Trainer's party line up. Not to mention berries. The Poke'mon Contests were actually pretty fun. This is the first one I actually attempted to complete the Poke'dex. Got 199, but couldn't find someone willing to trade me a Latios.

Diamond/Pearl/Platinum- These are my favorite easily. Now instead of a particular type always being a physical or special attack (like Normal always being physical and Water always being special) each individual attack has its own typing. This was a gift from Fate Above for me. I've always used all Water type Poke'mon since the very beginning and this allowed my teams to be much more varied in strengths. Sure Gyrados lost his powerful Hydro Beam, but it was more then worth the trade off. With new wifi battling I took Poke'mon to the competitive field and have to say I'm a pretty good battler. It is in this franchise that I've clocked in over 400 hours. A lot of that being Breeding, planting berries everywhere, EV training, plowing through the Elite 4 over and over again, and battling people online.

I'm wondering what Heart Gold and Soul Silver will add to what I'm already so much in love with. I really hope we don't lose berries to the apricorn things. I can't imagine life without my Lum and Leppa berries.

You use haxx items? Totally not playing with you.

tl;dr: The series got better as it progressed but unfortunately the pokemon designs generally got worse.

Venks 06-11-2009 03:34 PM

You must not play competitively Joey boy. Light Ball isn't considered a Haxx item. Most stat increases aren't. Luck items like King Rock and Quick Claw are haxx items.

PS: My all water team never loses.

Wings of Fire 06-11-2009 03:37 PM

Does it have Kyogre in it? My Kyogre never lost a duel, possibly due to the fact it had Ice Beam and Thunder.

Nah I don't play with Legends. My line up:
Ludicolo(My favorite Poke'mon)
Gyarados
Lanturn
Milotic
Kingdra
SlowKing/Crawdaunt/Kabutops/Omnastar

Never managed to fill that last slot effectively. But I normally win without it so no biggy. Depending on my enemy's party make-up I tend to sweep their whole team with Ludicolo.
