I read somewhere ages ago that 'Squeek' was a codename of Meech's Oddysee, but the concepts of a meech dont look all that intelligent enough to have an epic journey escaping advanced technologies.

Nate 01-26-2009 03:28 PM

There will never be a game called Meech's Oddysee, simply because Meech is a species name, not a character name

stonetooth 01-28-2009 09:02 AM

I really wish hand of odd was a actual game. I would spend about an entire week playing it non stop, even if i did die... >_<

How do we even know what Meeches were truely? Yes we saw a picture and yes Rupture Farms slaughtered them to make Meech munchies very much related to Scrabs and Scrab Cakes and Paramites and Paramite Pies. With that in mind we assoceate that Meeches were wildlife like Paramites and Scrabs However we do not know any more details about Meeches except for some theroies.

So why not Meeches be a long lost race believed to be extinct and so odd that they look like animals but are actually some sort of race like Mudokins, Gluks etc.? I always thought Meeches were very small beings which makes them a cool race if they are symobiotic.

Paramiteabe...

:fuzblink:

Bullet Magnet 02-04-2009 02:26 PM

All the information we do have indicates a species that lived very much like the lions of the African Savannah, and about as intelligent.

paramiteabe 02-05-2009 11:57 AM

Where did that come from? I never heard of that.

Xavier 02-06-2009 02:06 AM

I think it's something Matt Lee (info@oddworld.com) told to a member of this forum.

Andrelvis 02-06-2009 02:15 AM

I would love to see the source code for Abe's Oddysee/Exoddus released. I bet people would make pretty damn cool things with it, like something akin to SligStorm perhaps.

We have a picture of a Meech. Also, there is some information about Meecharnia; everything seems to lead to them being creatures akin to Paramites and Scrabs.

there is?

Crashpunk 02-07-2009 09:51 AM

I would of thought Sligstorm would be a good game
i thought Squeek would be like a Meep :P
Nod sounds like a name for a Mug, it might be possible that he was Abe's best friend or somthing. Maby after the new movie/game oddworld might make these long lost games

Bullet Magnet 02-07-2009 03:06 PM

Nod. Is. Fake. Please cease and desist.

Nate 02-07-2009 03:12 PM

That isn't forum-canon until you've convinced Max of that fact.

Bullet Magnet 02-07-2009 03:31 PM

Sure, I'll get right on it. Right after I solve faster-than-light travel and come up with an equation to predict prime numbers!

Wil 02-07-2009 04:33 PM

Oh, I’m convinced. However, in naïver times my words were taken far too seriously and were passed on far beyond the confinement of the Oddworld Forums. Nod is one character whose name will not be dispelled for a long time. In 2053 when OWI releases the fourth Quintology title, thousands of fans will be on the streets protesting that they didn’t use the name Nod.

Like, two weeks ago when you mentioned to me how much it pissed you off that you couldn't find the interview where Lorne said that Nod was the character's name?

Wil 02-07-2009 05:25 PM

I never said it was an interview with Lorne, and the name did come from an interview that I would love to still have.

AlexFili 02-08-2009 04:30 AM

I've always wanted SligStorm to be finished. I really like the sligs, and think they are probably one of the best characters in the oddworld universe!

Can't wait for the other oddworld games in the future.

Hazel-Rah 02-09-2009 12:16 PM

I could imagine Squeek being similar to a rabbit, some normally harmless creature like Abe or Munch.

I'd like to Squeek's Odyssey more than any of the other cancelled projects because it's supposed to be the third game in the series, right?

Bullet Magnet 02-09-2009 03:18 PM

The third and first.

Slog Bait 02-15-2009 05:31 PM

I didn't think Squeek's Oddysee was cancelled, I just thought it was post-poned to a much later date so they could finish their current projects. o_o;

I always saw Squeek as something reptilious and snake-like, but able to glide short distances or something. I continued thinking that after I saw Munch's ability to swim. Or perhaps Squeek being a master at breaking and entering, since in pretty much all the games so far you've had to make a journey thoughout a massive land in order to find a way into a facility. All that, but completely defenseless.

Also, in future games, Munch needs to be able to swim underwater as well as on the surface.

Crashpunk 02-17-2009 11:03 AM

i hope they make them... :(

GlukkonGluk 02-18-2009 11:49 AM

I always pictured Sqeek as one of the Ratz you see briefly in MO

Xavier 02-19-2009 12:04 AM

Ratz are merely the eyes and ears of the Almighty Raisin, hardly hero material I'm afraid.

Abe is merely some lowlife slave that originally LIKED his job at RF, or atleast didn't seem to mind it, killing off species that were originally sacred to a belief that he himself was new to at the time. I don't think that makes him good hero material either .... ahem, point is, even a lowly Rat can be a hero.

But I would still go against the idea of it.

Bullet Magnet 02-19-2009 09:19 AM

Having a rat as a hero is similar to having a security orb as the hero.

Slog Bait 02-19-2009 02:34 PM

A security orb as a hero would be pretty awesome.
And by awesome I mean fucking retarded.

Oddworld: Security Orb's Oddysee

shaman 02-19-2009 02:42 PM

crossing oddworld with a game like halo or some drmatic story of betrayal would yeild facinating results..
stop me if i'm getting to OTT.

mr.abe 02-19-2009 03:38 PM

I would like to play munch`s exodus.

moxco 02-19-2009 10:09 PM

Nice Xavier, I've never seen that before. If I could of chosen one of the canceled games to be released I would probably go with Fangus.

I'd like to play anything coming from OWI now actually.

sam250 02-20-2009 04:00 AM

I think a security orb would be a great main character; choosing when to sound the alarm, zapping where necessary, the difficult moral choice of listening to your evil Glukkon masters or turning a blind eye to the chanting Mudoken in the corner. Camera mechanics a la Beyond Good and Evil... really, I can see it happening.

Chronicler 02-20-2009 04:50 AM

When you think of Wall-E, a security orb CAN make a great hero. Just as much as a rat (Watch N.I.M.H) can.

But they most likely won't star in their own games.

Bullet Magnet 02-20-2009 10:31 AM

I already designed a security orb hero, but it was actually the custom-built avatar of a mysterious cyberpunk character hidden in the bowels of some industrialist city.

But such an idea would not be suitable for the Almighty Raisin. He sees and hears things via the rats, but influences events by advising those who seek his wisdom. As far as game experiences go, Oddworld: Raisin's Narcolepsy world be rather passive.

Wil 02-20-2009 11:40 AM

Not least because he’s because he’s an industrial sympathizer OH WHOOPS SPOILED IT FOR YOU.

Bullet Magnet 02-20-2009 11:52 AM

He's a living thing sympathiser. It's hard to find genuine enemies of the Raisin.

I always suspected that...

Especially when a typo in the Universe section of ow.com produced the phrase "Raisin's Liar".

Not in the least bit. The Vykkers, as distressed as they are with the fleetingness of life, would love to cut up a 14 000 year old being to
see what kept it going.

Yeah. We could gather up some people and make a fan-made oddworld game for an easily moddable game like Neverwinter Nights, wouldn't be the same thing as a new game but still would be nice.

GlukkonGluk 02-21-2009 05:33 AM

Hang on, the Raisin has all these Mudokons floating around him. Doesn't that imply he's kinda on their side? He is also one of the tree huggers. Doesn't that explicitly tell us he's on their side? Oh, and if these Ratz are the eyes and ears of the Almighty Raisin...i have to ask...why do we see them peering into Vyker's Labs' dustbins?????

Wil 02-21-2009 08:59 AM

Everyone thinks Raisin is on the Mudokons’ side. It’s a future plot twist that he’s not, which I shouldn’t have revealed but drunkenly did.

You see a Rat peering into a Vykkers Labs bin because rats tend to look in bins for food. I don’t think every Rat is hosting the Raisin’s astral projection at the same time, and even if they were that wouldn’t stop them having to go about their normal ratly duties to survive.
