I would also like to add during tribal phase I actually ran into a wild group of glukkons made by a guy I buddied. I promptly killed them and cooked them up. The irony was ASTOUNDING.

Space stage really sucks!

My old room mate encountered my scrab scaled up to a size towering above the trees. Frightened the life out of us.

I've read around about this. From what i can tell it is in soem ways random as to when this happens, but the way you expand can also play a factor. Expand slowly, building good defences on all your colonies and fully colonising a solar system before moving on. Also, expanding away from the Gaalactic Core can also help. Taking missions may also provoke enemies too, depending on the mission.



But, nobody able to help me on why I can't seem to download creatures? In game search doesn't work, and saving PNGs from spore.com into the Creature folder in My Spore Creations doesn't work either (which the manual says you should do). No help at all?

BM, have you subscribed to any Sporecasts, added any buddies with OW content etc.? As I want to experience similar stuff but right now I'm only seeing endless Maxis stuff.

Most of the buildings I've used have been slight edits to the Maxis buildings, but I'll start building some good uns.

I've heard you can search for a mod around gamefaqs to put down the random attacks in space. Although I dunno if it actually works or not :/.

Also, I call bull on the galactic code. How was I supposed to know that testing out a weapon of mass destruction on a barren planet would make people hate me? D:

Spore, as far as I've seen, is very complicated to begin with. The player doesn't seem to get any kind of tutorial a lot of the time and is expected to read the manual or the Spore-guide to understand what the hell you have to do at certain times.

Even some of the missions are extremely vague. You are sent out to collect some stuff, at some planet which you have to SEARCH FOR FIRST and when you find it you suddenly get ambushed by enemy ships. I mean come on, that's just frustrating for any kind of player.

Also my home planet easily just sent me to one of the most fortified planets in the universe which they expected me to level with just my mini-laser since I couldn't afford anything else at that point, and who would expect the player to have money to have high tech weapons... those were TUTORIAL missions.

I think Space Stage was rushed out because there are a LOT of things broken there. I hope they patch stuff like this at some point because Space Stage is just not fun this way.

GAH! Ever since my creatures moved on from their first nest, I have been hopelessly outclassed. I'm not strong enough to befriend any creatures and I'm not strong enough to defend myself from the rampaging schmucks. Also, I end up starving because I'm carnivorous and I can't kill anything to eat it. I think I'm going to end up backtracking quite far to find some weak creatures to add to my pack to help me out. As long as they don't get killed on the way.

Have you tried socialising with your own species? They can join you in your pack and assist in combat.

Also, you can breed before you starve.

I don't have the game, I'm afraid. I lack the hardware, and the funds to acquire the hardware, so it's just the Creature Creator for me.

The Maxis stuff will peter out when you download more content.

Does it automatically download content, or do I need to tell it to do that?

Should do it by default unless you told it not to :).

I don't like civ stage becuase I sucked at it and just made friends with everyone, tried to make war and lost...so I got my bud to kill em!! Space stage is pretty good, I love killing helpless creatures in tribal then running away after realising they're stronger, cell was okay and Creature was awesome, killing every creature possible and adding the really strong ones to my pack! Haven't added any online content but I will soon when my internet on the PC with spore on it starts to work!!

Wow, BM. I just checked out your gallery and you have some awesome creatures. Makes me wish I'd designed for aesthetics rather than tactics.

I now have more or less the strongest creature possible. He also looks like arse. I think I'll redesign before evolving to Tribal. Does the creature strength affect gameplay in Tribal?

No. Creature stage is pretty much all stats, but once you get to tribal, just unleash the creativity and make something pretty.

I've added Ghost and BM as "buddies" so your creatures are everywhere, including an epic creature from BM that trolled me throughout the Creature stage.

So I had to start a new game because my first space stage thing was screwed up. I was broke and everyone was at war with me.

Apparently being violent in space stage is a one-way ticket to failure. In my new game I decided to ally more and now I'm doing much better. I like the whole spice trading thing, although not long ago I had some assholes force me to pay some money so I won't go to war with them. Considering how I have so many allies, I don't think I should be worried about going to war with them, still thinking about it.

Oh, and killing little tribes with lazors is fun as hell :P.

Guh. It doesn't seem to auto download, and as far as I'm aware I've not set it to not auto-donwload. Only 1600-odd creatures in the everything tab, the rest I have to manually download. Which would be no problem if I could search the Sporepedia, but al li can see is the 8 most recent creations, and every tiem I try to search it fails to connect.

You should set automatic delete on so you've always got a fresh supply.

But since I can't seem to download, wouldn't that just, erase all my downloads? Also, I don't believe you can auto-delete Maxis creatures. :/

Sorry, I got the impression that you weren't downloading anything because you'd met an apparent and not-inconsiderable quota of 1600.

First patch is out. Apparently it solves all the above problems.

The patch also causes new problems, from what I've heard, so I shall wait till the patch is patched.

I'm in Space and getting really quite shitty about how often I get attacked.

I wouldn't mind so much if it was half fun, but I can't get more than three or four minutes into the game before I have to jump back, fight some absurdly overpowered pirates and get killed about three times.

I can't even upgrade my ship because I don't ever get enough the time to play the game and get enough money before having to return home and defend.

Right now, I'm bribing my allies to kill off my enemies. I'm too weak to do it myself.

Well well well.. i think this is the better thread to make my first post here. So so so.. Hi everybody \o/

Hum, well, so, Spore.. it's a nice game, but.. the only real interest i found in is the Creature phase. Space phase is boring because we can't go out of our spaceship, tribal phase is boring because it's a kind of RTS gameplay, Civ Phase is REALLY boring because we can't have the control of our creatures.. just some vehicles, in RTS gameplay, again. Cellular phase is pretty nice though, but the real part of the game, in my opinion, is in the creature phase.

Well, i'm actually working on an Oddworld Project on Spore. I'll try to make EVERY oddworld things i can do. Creatures (most of them are in a "native form", because i made them to be played in Creature Phase. But you are free to use them in tribal, civ and space phase if you want to. Just edit them in the correct editor ^^) vehicles, buildings.. Chroniclers, Kintos, etc, are also included of course.

About the project, i've not played the xbox versions yet.. so, maybe that some creatures will be forgotten. When I would think that this will be finished, I would post here, and if some creature is missing, I'm counting on you (all the members of the forum) to give me the name of the missing creatures and, if it's possible, a picture ^^.

So I finally bought Spore yesterday.

I had little expectations, so they were initially exceeded very nicely. It's like Creatures on acid. I love the cell and the creature stage. However, when I got to the tribal stage, I just thought "huh. I don't really like this kind of game". Mabye I'm just yet to fully get it, but tribal stage FTL for the moment. Is the space stage anything like it?

edit: Crony, some of your creature are very good! Steef, feather fuzzle and meetle are the ones I remember well. nice work.

Well, actually Steef, Feather Fuzzle and Meetle are not made by me, but i've found them very nice done so i put them on my sporecast ^^ i'll do them too, but later ^^.

About the space stage.. it's not like Tribal stage. But civilisation stage is. Space stage is special, but due to the fact that we can't get out of our spaceship, it makes the game lose some interest. That's my opinion ^^

Space is way different.

Tribal stage is mercifully short. I'd recommend befriending the other tribes as it's bloody easy to do and just get through the stage as quickly as possible. Civ stage is so-so also but once you work out the routine to convert other cities, they fall pretty quickly.

As for Space; things have improved a lot since I wiped out the race that was warring on me. I have the superpower of converting an entire planet in a millisecond, which makes that easy. Now I just ignore pirates and dealing with the damnable Grok.
