*UPDATE*

Thanks scipionyx, thank you so much ^^^

Well, tell me how do you see it, I have improved the muscles, I have improved the fingers and the head.

http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/2058/68900540sg2.jpg

So if that's a leg.. I have to make it in 3D Max, because I don't want to do things in Zbrush, and I don't know how to edit Polyspheres (the people that make models in Zbrush use Polyspheres and sculpt it, while I do them in 3D Max and I sculpt it in Zbrush).

*UPDATE*

I have sculpted it in HD Geometry, so I can draw skin effects with really good quality. I have colored it too.

GlacierDragon 09-28-2008 06:49 AM

Wow, colour! I like the texture. And about that bone thing, if you look at the rendered Paramite's right leg you can see it.

scipionyx 09-28-2008 09:10 AM

I like the details in the skin and how you have improved the fingers,
you've also chosen a good skin colour
n_n

mitsur 09-28-2008 09:22 AM

Looks awesome. I can't wait until you start texture and more advanced coloring.

skillyaslig 09-29-2008 01:00 AM

Thats great! Certainly looks like a paramite ^^

Xx_Abe_xX 09-29-2008 04:25 AM

Dude this looks incredible! I can't wait to see it when it's finished.

Tidus 09-30-2008 12:39 PM

See this (2,61 mb, .mov):

**UPDATE**

Well I decided to remove the HD Geometry layer, to make a real good one, with real textures.

This is a close zoom to the head and the fingers, the textures are own made (I can zoom it at the highest level and the detail doesn't loose any quality).

scipionyx 10-05-2008 01:21 AM

Some nice details I see here :D cool :fuzcool:

*waits curiously to take a glimpse at the final version*

skillyaslig 10-06-2008 04:48 PM

Ooo, thats epic! Love all the wee wrinkles in de skin ^^

OddYouko 10-07-2008 10:22 AM

Yay colors! :D
Like the details in it. Great job!
And the close ups are awesome!

Tidus 10-08-2008 05:40 AM

Thanks all!

Yes, I have problems with the alphas, it's a bit difficult to do it from a photo.. Specially when the light is brighter in some zones.

Sorry for no updates, I'm modelling a new T-Rex.

That's a bit I have make some days ago:

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/7...ocumentze3.jpg

But I promise you I'll finish this model.

Well, good bye!

munchdude1 10-09-2008 11:55 AM

Keep up the good work! :D

HEHEEE

That's actually almost what I've been waiting for... now just a little bit colour and IT WILL LIIIIIIVE!!!

because it looks so realistic now, it looks like beeing alive :D:D:D

OddYouko 10-23-2008 06:43 AM

Awesome job Tidus!
Yeah are you going to add any color to it?

GlacierDragon 10-24-2008 03:01 AM

Wow! Great work. This looks really good. I love the textures on the face-fingers.

Tidus 10-24-2008 05:46 AM

Thank you the three! You're always posting :)

I really apreciate it. Thanks.

I have finished my Rex, so I'll take this to add it a bit of more work on the skin detail, and yes, the color.

It's not good at all, but I have problems with the normal map. I have got better renders too :?

Havoc 10-24-2008 06:49 AM

Its... blue 0_o

GlacierDragon 10-25-2008 03:10 AM

Ok, for some reason looking at that picture makes me hungry. I'm strange.

Hadn't you seen blue Paramites? They're so good.. ;)

Yeah, I know I must put them yellow, but I was going too fast and I forget it

:tard:

I think that is the most strange reply to one of my 3D works. Awesome :D

Go to the kitchen and get some cookies.. :)

Cyph3r 10-29-2008 02:03 PM

I stand by my previous critisisms. This is why:

http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/7613/scrabblesi7.jpg

this was made by a guy over on the GameArtist forums.

GlacierDragon 10-30-2008 04:04 AM

Wow, that's really good. However, I'd say the torso was too small and it's only suppose to have two pairs of pectorial muscles. There are some other minor mistakes but I'm not going to bother saying them.

Tidus, what ever happened to your Scrab?

Will do!

scipionyx 10-30-2008 09:10 AM

 well this Scrab is indeed impressive... but I think Tidus work isn't finnished yet, probably it will become as detailed as this Scrab ...

I still like the paramite, which is blue now xD,
it's cool just keep it up ;)

crazysteef 10-30-2008 11:48 AM

It's very interesting to see the evolution of the work on the Paramite. It keeps getting better and better, just like a drawing with every layer. Kudos to you for going uber-detailed on you Paramite. It looks amazing.

The next question is, when will it be made into a Paramite pie?:fuzvamp:

Tidus 11-01-2008 03:52 AM

Cyph3r, thanks for that image, really impressive. The thing I see wrong there is that the Scrab is too organic, reminds me some kind of flesh. And it has too sharpen details. If you can see the Scrab design, it doesn't have that veins. Those are going to explode lol

Anyway, it's a nicely done model. And the details look amazing, but it's at 1,3 million polys.

To be honest I'm not going to do something in my models in a few weeks.. Time for exams.

Where's my Scrab? Well, it is still there, in my Oddworld folder, waiting for new pectorial muscles I think.

But I'm not taking this serious as you can see, because they're just for fun. I have made some mechanical works and I finished them fastly.

And I want to play games, go out with my friends, you know, I can't be all the time in front of the computer making this, and I have school too.

This is why I'm not upgrading the Scrab or the Paramite:
http://features.cgsociety.org/newgal...2089_large.jpg

Thank you all :)

GlacierDragon 11-01-2008 04:36 AM

Wow. I love the texture. (lol, he has no teeth! He should get some false ones from the dentist.)

Tidus 11-01-2008 09:48 AM

LOL, thanks. But this is not the forum to talk about other models not refering to Oddworld.

Havoc 11-01-2008 03:13 PM

Cyph3r, that model looks very nice but don't you think it's kind of backward to use that as critism? You're basically saying that Tidus' work is no good because that model is better. You can't automatically expect everyone to be equally good at something and 3D modeling has a huge learning curve, I've had my hand at it and I decided it was not for me to learn because I didn't have the patience to learn the program.

I'm all for criticizing art reasonably but you shouldn't compare a learning artist with an experienced artist, that makes no sense at all.

Tidus 11-02-2008 04:00 AM

I'll upgrade my Scrab when I have time, and I'll make it like the Scrab showed in the game. The problem is that I have not references from the Scrab used in the game. I have two design shots and the sprites from the game, unfortunately the sprites have not good quality, and those shots have too much shadows.

I'm thinking in showing the two here, instead of showing one here, and the other one in the other thread.

crazysteef 11-02-2008 10:18 AM

What? You're lacking references?? Look up Scrabs in Google, or anywhere else you can, for Odd's sake! If you can't find good references anywhere else, than I strongly suggest purchasing the art of Oddworld. It's got, as I'm sure you can imagine, good reference material for Oddworld creatures, both 2D and 3D. Good Luck on your hunt for Scrabs.

Tidus 11-02-2008 02:06 PM

Lol, well, I was meaning this:
http://www.oddworld.au.com/universe/...es/scrab01.jpg

That's the kind of references I want, unfortunately I can find two or three like that only

Yeah, I have the book :)

Thanks! Well I have edited it a bit, and there is:

Havoc 11-02-2008 08:58 PM

Starting to look good there mate! However I'd try to make it look less clay like. Right now it kind of has this undefined look about itself, soft edges and bold tips which should be pointy, like the toes or the beak. Keep up the good work!

Tidus 11-03-2008 05:32 AM

Thanks! Glad you like it!

Yeah! I must work on that, but in Zbrush you mustn't go to the small details first. You must do the earlier shape, then do the high details, then the small details.. First of all I make the muscle shapes and minor details, and then I'll go to subdivision 7 and sharpen the edges ^^

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/9...ocumentnb3.jpg

scipionyx 11-03-2008 09:08 AM

well this is really nice :)

the muscles are getting some more details now yay! xD

Tidus 11-03-2008 10:52 AM

Thanks scipionyx! Well, now I see it again, the bottom pectoral muscle looks like an exoeskeleton, more than a muscle, but I don't know how to do it, in any image it's different!

It's too difficult to do circular shapes with the mouse.. that's why the muscular shape is not rounded well.

Just a question... Where's my Scrab thread? O_o

I also hate drawing with the mouse it really sucks!

and about your scrab thread,

click on user cp

and then click on subscribed threads, there you can find your thread...

Tidus 11-04-2008 04:56 AM

Yeah, I know.. But I was meaning where, in this subforum, it is.. I can't find it here :D

Wings of Fire 11-04-2008 05:19 AM

http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=17358

The reason you can't see it is because it hasn't been commented on for a month, meaning it has dropped out of the immediate thread list.

If you go down to the bottom of the subforum menu, you should see an option asking you how far back you want results to appear on the main list from, open the drop down boxy thing and select anything more than a month, this should make it appear somewhere further down :) hope that helped.

Also I like seeing the progress you're making ^^.

totor 11-04-2008 08:35 AM

Hey Tidus, all your work is very good, it looks very realistic!!
