ouch, well, so much for Nod...
thanks for the interview |
I still think that Munch's Exoddus is the second to most likely unreleased game to com out (the most likely one is Squeek's Oddysee).
Sorry, but back there Xavier mentioned that they are working on Oddysee movies... oddysee plural...oddysee more than one... oddysee abe & munch? Am i close to the truth? However if CS won't be out till 2010, i wont get excited yet... besides, i've learned not to because, knowing OWI, its bound 2 get cancelled or changed or something... i think they plan too far ahead
The eventual aim of OWI is to bring out all the Quintology in movie form; as originally intended.
The wait might not be as long as you'd think because after CS (hopefully) becomes a hit we'll be looking at Lorne having a lot more influence and moolah in the movies department. |
There will be more Oddworld games than movies in the next 5 years, and based on how long Citizen Siege is in development, I think that the wait for the Abe's Oddysee movie will be more than 2 years long, which is, in my opinion, a very long time.

I usually don't care about who makes the games, I just like the games.
:
I apologize, Lorne you are a genius!!! AAAWWWW..... Oh, I forgot a Gabbit on a burner... Thats disgusting... |
It would be cool to see games coming out regularly based on the TV show.

The Oddworld TV show will come out. There will probably be games based on this TV show coming out regularly.
Hev you any link to info about that TV show?? It is some kind of Reality Show??
Yes, I was thinking you mean "show", like TV show. This articel is about TV series. It would be great if they create Tv animated series based on Oddworld.
"There's not a whole lot I can reveal. We've got four projects that we are working on. I can't really get into them, except you know one of them is the film. I can say that another one is the television series, and we are using game technology on all of them." Last year, Lanning and partner Sherry McKenna signed a development deal for a computer animated motion picture based upon another creation--Citizen Siege. But Lanning hasn't forgotten about Abe, Munch, and the rest. "Oddworld is really, really close to our heart, which is why we chose never to sell it, and we have big plans for it. "It may take longer than the fans would like, but I think they'll be happy as long as it is great stuff. NJow this sounds really Interesting...... |
That's another one of the reasons I think Munch's Exoddus will come out eventually. He also mentioned "the rest", so I think that there will be more Stranger games.
Noo, not another Stranger games.... If they want to produce such games, they have to convert it also on PC...
Why not more Stranger games? Maybe Stranger can meet Abe and Munch, so it would be better.
:
It would be cool to read the Tips and Tricks preview of Stranger's Revenge or something.
Why would Stranger want revenge? He got what he wanted at the end of Stranger's Wrath, surely any title following this rather boring and formulaic approach would be entitled 'Sekto's Revenge'?
Maybe Stranger would be angry because so many Steef died. He can eventually kill Sekto.
:
How is that pointless?!
But why Stranger, I want to see the good old Oddworld....No western setting..
Why try to inhibit OWI's creativity by forcing them to make the same rehashed genre and settings over and over again?
Stranger's Wrath wasn't what everyone was after but it was a breath of fresh air that gave Lorne a chance to develop Mudos outside of the Quintology's focused POV. |
But this I dont understand...World in Munch's Oddysee was very high tech, like our world few years later, but in Stranger, the world was set in a world that looked like from some spaghetti western.
Ever been to Africa, boy? Same deal.
:
What's wrong with the western setting? The rest of the games only have an overall "anywhere" setting. You get deserts, industrial sectors, military installations, deciduous forests, wildlife preserves and native ruins all over the world.
Stranger's Wrath was only a western in environment for the first two towns. It was then only a western in other respects until the reveal.
If the game began with the reveal FMV, no one would think of it as a western at all. |
:
The lack of technology in the Clackerz towns and surrounding countryside was all part of the style, and said a lot about the Clackerz and the outlaws. It's one of the small things that makes the setting and atmosphere of the game brilliant and more feasible, if you get my meaning. Oh yeah, you gotta remember that Munch wasn't really thought out properly. EDIT: One more thing. Stranger is losely western at first but later on he goes through different environments as the game progresses. Like everyone else here said, calling it a "Western style" game doesn't do it justice. If you bothered to play it, you'd find out that it has just as much Oddworld atmosphere and depth as any other oddworld game, even on par with Abe's Oddysee in some parts. And it has a hell of a lot more depth than Munch, that's for damned sure. |
Every place on Oddworld is different in technology.
I dont want to repete myslef again, but I must compare this to Metal Gear. Abe is like Snake in MGS. It is a character , that you have a some kind of relationship. In MGS2 you were playing as Raiden....That doesn't fit to all of the gamers. They wanted their character (Snake - Abe) back...But don't get me wrong, I am not comparing Stranger to Raiden..;-)
Pointless analogy and highly flawed because while MGS2 was a direct sequel to MGS1 (based only on title), Stranger's Wrath was in no way a sequel to Munch's Oddysee.
How do you know that Stranger won't meet Abe and Munch?
Actually he might...
there I said it... |
It would be col if Stranger turns out to be Squeek.
I would like to take this opportunity to publicly disagree with MeechShrykull1029, and raise him one "it would be cool if Aslik's (suddenly homeless) tapeworm turns out to be Squeek."
